thehouseofpip Slug got a fright the other night (me) and squished up. Apparently slugs use their mantles like snails use their shells. Most mantles even have a tiny bit of shell still in them, as slugs like to keep it real and remember their roots. Slugs evolved from snails, not vice-versa, although evolutionary biologists are still a bit stumped as to why it's better to be shell-less. That's because us humans are caught in a capitalist trap. 1d

thehouseofpip Alright, so I'm googling Slug facts on a Saturday night but LOOK: 27,000 TEETH. 3d
  •   jennilil Even better than that fabulous Frilled Shark with its 300 teeth on 25 rows and flexible jaws to swallow prey whole like a snake. Sluggie Wright just needs to keep growing to make the news @thehouseofpip 🐉 2d
  •   artistasfamily Wow!!! 2d
  •   lellyyoung 27,000 teeth! I'm looking at slug a little differently now 2d
  •   bakedeggs @thehouseofpip how big are the teeth? 2d
  •   thehouseofpip Massive @bakedeggs - like kitchen knives (but really, really, really small ones) 2d

thehouseofpip Slug. Please note finger print-like patterns on glisteny body. I wonder if every glisteny finger-printed slug body is different, or whether all this unique snowflake individualism is reserved only for humans who think they're better even though they're screwing everything up and haven't been around nearly as long as slugs and will probably be deemed a far less successful species compared to slugs when all is done and dusted. 7d

thehouseofpip Slug emerging for the evening from his/her hole in the self-watering lettuce pot. Slug used to live in a small terrarium but outgrew it because it's LIVING THE BEST LIFE OF ANY SLUG, EVER 7d

thehouseofpip Observing his/her kingdom. Also, please note breathing hole (pneumostone) is open. Apparently they open/close their holes approx 0.5 times per minute when fully hydrated (less if dehydrated). Slug is looking quite glisteny at the moment so let's assume fully hydrated and business as usual. 2w

X-Pro II Pip Wright
thehouseofpip Two great things tonight: 1) SBTRKT; 2) @forummelbourne noticed @techurbanist was on crutches when we entered the venue and immediately led us to a special roped off section with seats so he could sit down! I've always debated which is my favourite Melbourne venue but tonight The Forum won the title. Total legends. Thanks #forummelbourne, it made such a difference to the night 3w

thehouseofpip My feelings towards Glenrowan / Ned Kelly 3w

thehouseofpip Glenrowan was very tacky and left us highly confused about Ned Kelly. Thankfully, Wikipedia helped out afterwards. Gotta say, this whole Ned Kelly thing is a bit dumb. He wasn't a hero - just a thug from a thuggish family who liked to crack tanties, get drunk and kill people. 3w
