thebruerytr Tonnellerie Rue is now available on draught and in bottles in the Tasting Room. With this beer, we have taken our classic Saison Rue recipe, rich with rye malt, and allowed it to ferment spontaneously within extra large oak barrels that previously contained similarly wild beers. After enough time and plenty of wishful thinking, this brand new, earthy, complex, farmhouse ale developed into what was bottled up to enjoy. We find the rustic charm of fermenting a beer in this traditional method is mimicked in the flavor. It will be available when we open. 3d

thebruerytr Today we tapped four casks of young sour blonde ale, each featuring a single hop. One showcases German Huell Melon hops while the other three feature a New Zealand hop - Kohatu, Waimea and Rakau. Here are tasting notes from the hop grower and our experimental brewer, Andrew Bell.

Huell Mellon
Hop Grower: Distinct fruit characteristics including honeydew melon and strawberry flavors.
Andrew Bell: Aroma: Herbal, spicy, berries, and noble-like, but with more tropical notes of melon and ruby red grapefruit. Flavor: Fruity, noble backbone, mild tropical and funky notes. Grapefruit!

Kohatu
Hop Grower: Mild to moderate, showing bright lime and pineapple with traces of pine. Can exhibit a “dank” undertone desirable for some American craft styles.
Andrew Bell: Aroma: Fruity, resin, lavender, intense "green" notes. Flavor: honeydew melon, berries, mildly tropical, mineral, herbal/grassy finish.

Waimea
Hop Grower: Intense tangelo and citrus fruit with subtle pine characteristics. Assertive citrus fruit aromas with subtle pine notes.
Andrew Bell: Aroma: Dank, green papaya, mango and mild citrus. Some lemon and blackberry notes. Flavor: underripe mango/papaya, fruity, blackberry with citric undertones.

Rakau
Hop Grower: Fresh orchard fruits, specifically apricot with some resinous pine needle characteristics are noted. Lovely and pungent whiffs of ripe fruit (particularly peach) backed with bright notes of grapefruit juice, and a suggestion of tropical flowers and balsam, which can be brought closer to the front with dry hopping.
Andrew Bell: Aroma: Pine, lemon, grassy, evergreens, pinecone, lime pith, dank. Flavor: earthy/resin with lemon/citrus oils.

Stop in for a flight today - they won’t last long!

thebruerytr Tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m., we're continuing our tradition of releasing a special mocktail on the last Thursday of the month. For the month of August, it's a Manhattan-inspired mocktail that we're calling Mashattan. It incorporates Mash, our bourbon barrel-aged barleywine with bitters and a vermouth-inspired simple syrup. Each glass will be garnished with a Luxardo maraschino cherry. This delicious concoction will be sold along with a specialty branded glass. Get 'em while they last - those glasses usually run out quickly! 6d

thebruerytr Now available for our card-carrying Society members to sample: Levud's. Its story begins in 2008, when we congratulated Mark Graham and Loren Miraglia for winning our Batch No. 1 Homebrew competition by brewing their beer as our very first batch. Recently, we decommissioned our original brewhouse and brought a new, state-of-the-art brewhouse to life. Recreating our first recipe seemed the best way to begin this new chapter in our brewing history. Levud's is a Belgian-style golden ale that's crisp, effervescent, complex and filled with memories and significance in our brewery's history. 1w

thebruerytr This Thursday at 5:30 p.m., we'll welcome one of our newest Bruers, Joel, behind the bar to release Safeword, which is a cask he concocted of Autumn Maple with coconut, ghost peppers, @coldbotcoffee and cocoa. Joel runs a number of our social media accounts here at The Bruery. It would feel way too lonely for him to do a selfie on his own cask night, so don't be surprised if you are asked to pose for a photo with this delicious brew. 3w
