theannamontana A 25km bike ride, 7km run and 14km hike later, I find myself sipping on a chestnut latte in this quaint medieval town. Now.. all the way back to where I came from. My legs are on fire already! 5d

theannamontana First event run of the year: the annual Avon women's run (5km or 10km respectively). Since my best friend - who literally despises running - asked me to join her (which has me in total disbelief until I actually meet her at the venue later), I signed up for the mere thought of supporting her and running alongside. Just why does the event shirt have to be of that kind of pink that leaves you blind and speechless? 1w
  •   carouselcues Because apparently women only wear pink? That teal color would have been nicer. Good luck to you and your friend with the marathon 🙂 1w
  •   theannamontana @carouselcues Apparently they do This year's half marathon event shirt was of a bright teal colour, it looked stunning. 6d

theannamontana For the first time in my life I'm dealing with anxiety. I usually freak and stress out about a lot of things due to my hectic nature and it doesn't take long for me to calm down, but I've never actually experienced anxiety and it's gradually taking over. I could go into detail as to how it's work-related, but I shouldn't even spare one more thought on it because it's draining and I need to get back on track asap. I'm not a negative person per se although I may seem like it, in fact I'm just an optimistic realist - or a realistic optimist. That's why it hit me hard why I would have to deal with something so annoying because it gives me nothing but negative thoughts and vibes and I feel restless yet too lazy to gather the least amount of motivation to do something about it 💭 2w
  •   miss_wave I didn't fully realize my anxiety until earlier this year and it has been -rough-. I've been super MIA between work, friend's wedding, and moving, but if you need to talk it out (helps me) I'm here for you love!️ (Oh, also it seems silly, but sometimes when it gets really bad I write down what I'm freaking out about. Helps so much!) 2w

theannamontana サクラ…
世の中を木の下にする櫻かな、年々に花の見やうのかはりけり。

Fingers crossed work won't interfere with my plans, so I can spend next year's sakura season in Japan, although I'm indecisive about whether to go for spring season or autumn colours; both are fine weather-wise. While I'm beyond upset about not being able to go this year (it'll be the first year since 2013 that I won't spend time in Japan), I won't miss its summer climate at all, I can recall that terrible humidity on the spot.

theannamontana Woke up craving vanilla matcha crêpes with homemade anko (Japanese sweet red bean paste) filling and threw a couple ingredients together. These are gluten-free and boost your metabolism thanks to the green tea powder. Plus, they're a great guilt-free treat that make you reminisce of faraway Japan, whether you've been there before or not.

You don't have to follow my instructions per se, sub for whatever you prefer, such as tapioca/buckwheat/coconut/all-purpose/whatever flour instead of white rice flour or almond/oat/hazelnut/soy milk instead of lactose-free milk (just consider these might not be gluten-free anymore). Took me two tries till I was satisfied with the outcome, so be willing to experiment with measurements and ingredients.

For the crêpes:
2 cups white rice flour
2 cups lactose-free milk
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
2 eggs (not sure whether you can sub for flax eggs)
4-5 tsp matcha powder
2-3 tbsp maple syrup or any sweetener of your choice
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
2-3 tsp of your favourite unflavoured protein powder (optional)
Coconut oil or any oil of your choice for frying

If you prefer pancakes to crêpes, add 1 tsp baking soda + 1 tsp baking powder to the batter. Mix all ingredients together and fry in a pan just like any other pancake/crêpe.

For the anko filling:
1 can adzuki beans (about 400g)
A pinch of salt
Sweetener of your choice

Add the adzuki beans, salt and sweetener of your choice to a high-speed food processor. Alternatively, you can use a fork to mesh the beans, which works just as well. When it comes to sweetening the measurements are entirely up to you. Since I own an average-speed food processor, I added 2 tsp agave syrup (sub: maple syrup, stevia, etc.) to make the blending a little easier on the machine, as well as 100g erythritol (subs: white/brown granulated sugar, xylitol, applesauce, etc.)

theannamontana Back in Germany and just posting this now since the airport didn't have wi-fi. What I missed most whilst in Turkey: GOOD coffee (I can't handle authentic Turkish coffee; other than that they're into Nescafé instant coffee - I'd rather drink motor oil; so Sbuxx had to do this morning... it was glorious) and bananas. For some reason the hotel buffet didn't feature bananas Pigged out a lot this past week and need to resume my healthy lifestyle 🏻 3mon

theannamontana Explored Side today, which is a lot nicer than Manavgat. Thank god for this country's love for cheap freshly squeezed orange and pomegranate juice, all kinds of baklava (which is the reason why I work out three times a day while I'm here) and köfte when I crave it. It's not like all those things weren't readily available in Berlin, though. 3mon

theannamontana Spontaneously booked a getaway to Turkey at the end of February this week 'cause I'm in desperate need of beach workouts and hotel buffets.. although it'll be quite a challenge to keep up my healthy eating habits over there. Oh well🏻 And just leaving this country for a while altogether.

theannamontana Dinner bowl the other night with soba, shredded zucchini & carrots, hard-boiled eggs, tuna and nori bits. I just got home from an 8pm thru 6am shift and have the hardest time keeping my eyes open any longer. So, good night y'all (7am). 4mon

theannamontana Persimmon bread (inspired by @heatherchristo's recipe) with pumpkin spice xylitol glazing. Fruit puree may become my new obsession, I'm definitely gonna alter this recipe to make it low-carb, protein-packed and sentence other kinds of fruit to bread death as well. 4mon

theannamontana I usually go for a run every night because I'm living the definition of 'sloth' after waking up. You can only fail at motivating me for morning runs. This morning, however, I was all pumped and ready to go until I looked outside and watched a million snowflakes hit the ground. There's no way I'm going up against white fluffy rain, hoping for the best that by tonight most of it will be already gone so I can hit the track.
