telerouge 三連休 ️ So many people! 3d
  •   happymommyyoko Crazy. This used to be normal for me.. 2d
  •   telerouge @happymommyyoko Funny, this used to be abnormal for me! We've traded places! 2d
  •   dreamresidue This is nothing compared to NYC 2d
  •   telerouge @dreamresidue Tokyo is the most densely populated city in the world. I think NYC is up there, though. Number 7? I'm going to look that up bc I forget 🌍 2d
  •   jjasonc I live in NYC and was just in Tokyo last month. Tokyo is waaay more packed with people. lol 2d
  •   bethroes Tokes is definitely more crowded in general. I was initially shocked by how uncrowded NYC felt after Tokyo. Then I learned the horrors of Union Station at rush hour, cramped, loud, stinky, dark, dirty, disgusting, human beings collecting like garbage in a sewer grate, and now I think back on Shibuya Crossing and remember how clean the air was, god damn New York 2d

telerouge 父は子供の時コンゴに住んでた My grandparents moved into a retirement home and my father is cleaning their old house and summer cabin. We found so many old photos! This one is my dad when he was a kid growing up in Africa. 3w
  •   rachabees Your dad is consistently the most awesome! 3w
  •   alexmurdo_dickson Who's the wee boy then? @telerouge only joking 3w
  •   sarahnomadsland Great nostalgic pic. Just considering it my everlasting civic duty to mention Africa ain't a country. 3w
  •   telerouge @sarahnomadsland read the Japanese, lady. 3w
  •   sarahnomadsland I did, fortunately I can read Japanese. 3w
  •   telerouge @sarahnomadsland He was also born in Europe. Do you have a problem with that, or am I required to specify the country? It's sometimes easier on social media to say Africa rather than to say "the country that was formerly known as the Belgian Congo while my dad lived there, and then Zaire and then Democratic Republic of Congo, now known as the DRC." Besides, I've had this exact same back-and-forth with you over Facebook at least twice. You're condescending, and it's irritating. 3w
  •   sarahnomadsland I'm not from Europe so wouldn't have any viewpoint on that. You'd have to ask someone who came from that region of the world. I think it's unbelievably full of white superiority to be able to say 'it's easier for me personally to reduce the entire continent of African countries to one vague area'. It is also just as condescending to ignore (not only mine but) an entire continent of people whose views on their homelands are undermined by people who ignore their very clear views on the subject. Anyway, it's best not to try educate someone who finds changing her problematic actions 'irritating'. I'm done here. 3w
  •   telerouge @sarahnomadsland "Try to educate someone?" Believe me, you don't have to try to educate me. We've had the same discussions over and over again. You telling me that you studied about genocide at school. Me telling you I attended the Rwanda genocide trials in Arusha, TZ. My dad grew up in Central Africa. Two of my family members have married people from SA. I studied Kiswahili for over a year after coming back from TZ and Kenya. Please, keep telling me that Africa is not a country but a continent. I can't seem to understand it. I blocked you from Facebook months ago and haven't touched your blog in ages, but you keep trying to find me and leave stupid comments. @judyrudy is your friend, but I've never met you. I wish you would leave me alone. 3w

telerouge I'm almost finished reading the colourless tsukuru Haruki Murakami novel. Nice timing that it came out just before I took a week-long holiday in the countryside. 1mon
  •   zoedawnjane I'm reading Kafka on the shore and loving it! so. sad. 1mon
  •   telerouge I like him, too. Even his average books are always entertaining, and I like all the food and music. This one is short and repetitive: heavy on boring angst and light on character / plot development. 1mon
  •   telerouge @zoedawnjane @kabikibi I forgot to tag you two! 1mon
  •   zoedawnjane which one is your favourite? 1mon
  •   telerouge @zoedawnjane I like wind up bird chronicle the best! You? 1mon
  •   zoedawnjane Kafka on the shore is my first murakami book! I was actually thinking wind up bird chronicle or Norwegian wood (tho I did see the movie already. Have you seen it?) 1mon
  •   telerouge @zoedawnjane I liked the movie, but mostly because I loved the aesthetics. That 1960s vibe is what I love, and I liked the clothing and set decorations. I wish they had chosen a different actress for Naoko, but @i_am_kiko did a great job playing Midori. 4w

telerouge お墓参りNow, we're in the middle of a week-long holiday here in Japan. It's a Buddhist holiday called Obon, where deceased relatives come back to earth for a short time. People clean the graves and place flowers and candy on them. The house smells like incense and everyone just relaxes around the house for the week. Sometimes there are community events, special dances, fireworks and night-festivals 1mon

telerouge Happy birthday to Marcia McBroom! I loved her as beautiful drummer Pet in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, but she's not only an actress. She's an activist and an educator with the most wonderful extended family. I hope she's having a lovely day. @lauramcbroom 1mon
