taraviolet Check out Refinery 29's piece on women with body hair. I am pic 9-I talk about being teased but staying confident about my thick eyebrows. There is a short video at the end-look out for the lovely @emilyrosetheo in the mix!

taraviolet #tbt Self portrait taken the night of the solstice in 2011 in the British countryside (herefordshire) in a wooded plot of land
I was seventeen and had just graduated high school. I traveled around Europe by myself for a month and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.

taraviolet ️ Today I'm heading back to the glacial cold of New York (cape wearing weather like here) and am sad to leave LA & its warmth behind.
This photo by Bridget Collins was taken for Urban Outfitters' blog post (they interviewed me amongst other NYC creatives about our hopes & desires for the new year). The article is on their homepage!

taraviolet #tbt Self portrait from my series Descent into Madness, a series I made back when I applied to Cooper Union where, represented in 7 images, I playing a character, gradually fragmented and lost my grip on reality.
It was very inspired by Roman Polanski's Repulsion.

taraviolet a still from "Mommy" by @xavierdolan starring Antoine Oliver Pilon, Anne Dorval and Suzanne Clement
What a powerful film-it is painful, terrifying and touching all at once. The performances are wonderful. Visually it is one of the most challenging films I have seen but I mean this in a positive sense. Also, the soundtrack works so well with the film.

You should all see it when it comes out. It is deserving of all the praise it has been given.

  •   amelielouiseg A wonderful Film! You're right!!! 3w
  •   boodeenya Nan Goldin. She is incomparable inimitable. She is genius. I've GOT to see this movie. I doubt it's playing in Chicago. 3w
  •   taraviolet @boodeenya oh yes for sure! I had a feeling though of her images' violent beauty, her sensitivity and of course her use of color watching the film. You should see it-it may tear your heart out of your chest but it is worth the pain. It isn't in theaters in the us yet! This was a special screening at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art present by Film Independent. 3w
  •   kameraseun What a superb image ! 2w

  •   taraviolet @boodeenya it is the most gut wrenching/complicated mother son relationship I have seen in a movie 3w
  •   taraviolet @heatheravecp you will love it 3w
  •   taraviolet @julumaga which scene was that one? I cannot place who einaudi is and there was a lot of music 3w
  •   julumaga Sure, Ludovico Einaudi's music is the instrumental and really dramatic piece near the end, not easy to forget tbh! 3w
  •   taraviolet Oh yes I recall!! Xavier Dolan talked about that scene in the q and a! That piece of music was a huge inspiration and catalyst for the film @julumaga 3w
