tabanomar I wrote this song many years ago, and unfortunately the stories in the verses are true stories of family, relatives, neighbours and so on, and if I were to include every loss I witnessed or heard about, this song would go on forever
Young soldiers died,
and mothers cried..
I prayed for their soul silently,
While more soldiers fought violently.
Red covered the blue in the sea,
While the Kurds were begging to be set free..
For they have never truly felt freedom
And when I close my eyes I can still hear them
Their screams echo in my head,
Over and over again,
and I can’t help but feel their pain
so as this tear roles from my eye- {chorus}
I pray for freedom, I pray for peace.
Because I can still hear them, begging to be free.
The struggle, the pain, the memories that will forever remain.
I pray for freedom, I pray for peace.
If you close your eyes, you can hear them, struggling to be free. Verse 2:

He held his momma so tight.
The look in her eyes, oh the concern
Caused his heart to shatter and burn.
Not knowing if he would return.
If this was the last goodbye,
for good or for bad he would not cry.
He held her tighter and stood with pride,
For his land he would stand and fight-
Then something went ow so wrong,
as two months later he was gone,
eyes wide looking up at the sky-

and as this tear roles from my eye-
I pray for freedom, I pray for peace.
Because I can still hear them, begging to be free.

Ow young father struggling for his life,
He was shot and now he’ll never again see his bride,
He’ll never know that the newborn had his eyes,
Now he’s letting go too weak to fight,
Ow he’s letting go, too weak to carry on,
So I pray for freedom, I pray for peace.
Because I can still hear them, begging to be free.
The struggle, the pain, the memories that will forever remain.
I pray for freedom, I pray for peace.
Because even you can hear them, begging for free
