sweetpickle The Rangers' Club is a building in Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park that was donated by the independently wealthy first director of the National Park Service, Stephen Tyng Mather. He intended it to be used by the newly hired park rangers who were taking over from the departing army troops. He specifically intended it to blend into the natural environment. Its use of rustic stylings was part of a trend to the use of rustic design and natural materials in Park Service buildings until the 1940s. (From Wikipedia) 2w
  •   sweetpickle @instawhowhatwhere it is/was! I want to live here hahah 2w
  •   sweetpickle @dbnett thanks so much David, you certainly have a way with words. The original photo was fine, but I'm glad I could tweak and edit it to get the look and feel I wanted. I thought this building was so cool (and especially the fact it's simply called "Ranger's Club"), and basically I just wanted to drop everything and join the "club" and move in heheh 2w
  •   sweetpickle @redfish01 thanks so much Mike, hope you're doing well man 🏼 2w
  •   sweetpickle @survival_kitty haha well I'll have to send you an invitation to Yosemite using this picture with your name on it 2w

  •   sweetpickle @spacheco2003 and what's BMS 3w
  •   dbnett Cool! It could almost be an underwater scene. It's reminiscent of one of those crazy seahorses that look like plants. 3w
  •   nguyen_err Give me your number! You've got mine right? Do you still live in La Mesa? 3w
  •   sweetpickle @dbnett haha thanks, and yeah that's a great call. Funny, they have those exact sea horses at Birch Aquarium that I saw awhile back too 3w
  •   dbnett The Birch sea horses are the ones I was thinking about 3w
  •   nailah_pacheco Broke my scale 2w
  •   sweetpickle @dbnett yep, exactly. I still have a bunch of photos I took of those things when I went awhile back. One of these days I'm sure one will pop up here 2w
  •   sweetpickle @nailah_pacheco tbh thanks 2w

  •   dbnett A wonderfully engaging image. The one-two punch of the shot and the enhancement work great together. 🏻🏻 2mon
  •   caroinsd Your ehhhh is most people's awesome 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @dbnett hey thanks David, I appreciate it. I liked the building but I didn't really know what do with a picture of it haha 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @caroinsd you may very well be right about that 2mon
  •   dbnett You made a great artistic choice. It looks like something dug out of the 1929 archives. @sweetpickle 2mon

  •   cottage_crone Love that familiar drive ... 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @cottage_crone ahh you know it? Was my first time, but yes, an absolutely beautiful drive and area 2mon
  •   cottage_crone Wind surfing is great there, Zack ... 2mon
  •   cottage_crone Gorgeous shot 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @cottage_crone thanks! And yeah, my host was telling me that it's one of the top spots in the world for windsurfers, even year round. I couldn't believe the ferocity of the wind here at the lookout point, though...I don't think I've experienced wind that strong anywhere else in my life. My ears and head were still ringing, and a little sore, a couple hours later 2mon
  •   jalissa_queen This view is spectacular. Soak it all in. 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @jalissa_queen really incredible view no doubt, but I kid you not the wind was so strong and cold there that we couldn't stand it for very long 2mon

  •   sweetpickle @kelleyseastar hahah that is impressive for a five year old! And I've never seen Twilight, nor have I ever really considered it, but that's a nice piece of trivia anyways (since I'm sure I'm in the minority there ) 2mon
  •   lisa_leslie I think I was there but it could be a dream 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @lisa_leslie hahah! 2mon
  •   chistylezs My hometown... 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @chistylezs for real? 2mon
  •   chistylezs Yeah when our family first came from Saigon, we moved to Portland, then I grew up in Beaverton. Love the North West!!! 2mon
  •   chistylezs In the winter those falls freeze up sometime... 2mon
  •   sweetpickle @chistylezs ahh, very cool, don't think I knew that. Terry Ruh, his brother, and their parents all live in and around the Beaverton area now. My youngest brother and his wife bought a nice little house in Vancouver, WA a couple years ago. I really like visiting, but man it's cold. Sooooo many awesome restaurants and bars EVERYWHERE, it's crazy. And yeah, I've seen the pics of the waterfall when it's frozen...really cool looking 2mon
