sweetgrassp Happy cinco de mayo from Norway, where Coronas require a mortgage and the liquor store is open every third Thursday, if you can find it. For you, fine folks, we drink up this view and toast to you. : @evans_leah @patagonia_snow 3w
  •   sweetgrassp @larslarsbrenna we spent a week in lofoten and now we're in Lyngen filming for a Patagonia ski short that should be out in the fall. Unbelievable peaks here. 3w
  •   larslarsbrenna @sweetgrassp Yes!!! Can't wait to see your perspective of this place. I'm wishing for a follow up to Valhalla with a North Norwegian theme, you had the canned fish and the Norse thing going there so I feel this is the right place for the sequel?! Am I right?!? 3w
  •   davidedemasi I feel good about this one. 5d

sweetgrassp Life in a small red farm house by the ocean, waking every morning to the sounds of seagulls, then climbing up through glaciers to ski through the 10pm sun. Midnight dinner, and by the time you've sauna'd and climbed into bed the sun's already come back up again. @jasmincaton and @evans_leah here in the lower right corner looking real small in the big Norwegian country. @patagonia_snow 4w

sweetgrassp Back on the grid after 2 weeks skiing amongst the giants at fairy meadow hut. 40 of our best friends, business partners, sponsors, photographers, writers, creatives, Colorado College alumni, and then some unplugging from the internet, the phone, and the computer to reconnect on the skin track and across the dinner table. Quite possibly the best crew ever assembled under that roof. See you in 2017. Next stop Norway...@patagonia_snow @clifbarcompany : @bcolective 1mon

sweetgrassp We're beyond honored to have Afterglow featured in this months issue of National Geographic. When the project first came about, photographer @oskar_enander called us in the middle of many nights, in cold sweat, concerned that he'd never be able to get the exposure needed to "freeze the action." Months later, on set, his body language screamed defeat. When asked, he'd shrug, wince, look depressed. Maybe that's what Swedish people do in winter? Meanwhile, the yellow book is a testament to his perfectionism, high standard, and unbelievable talent. And the fact that he should be buying lunch. @natgeo @philipstvs @atomicski @eric_hjorleifson @chrisbenchetler @daronrahlves @pepfujas 4mon

sweetgrassp @mitchellgscott yesterday dropping into a line we've eyed up for years, the NW couloir on Grey's Peak. The bootpack was steep, deep, and exposed, with large sluffs raining down from overhead, waterfalls of snow spilling off the rock walls. A bald eagle greeted us on top, circling not far above our heads. The face shots on the down blinded, confused, and elated. We rode the wave of euphoria all the way to the bar. @patagonia_snow @clifbarcompany @dynafit 4mon
  •   sweetgrassp @logweeze you got to hang out in shred paradise for 5 days while it snowed a good chunk?! respect your commitment to wanting to walk up the forest service road, it's radical, but think you've got the wrong impression of our ethic. You paint a picture of disrespect when none was intended. We had no idea what you guys wanted to ride, didn't even see you until you were hanging out underneath our sluff. So, yeah, we weren't snaking your line-- pretty sure we punched the skintrack in that you followed, helping you #earnyourturns. And then we bootpacked up the couloir after skinning up the apron. But we'd be pissed too if we put in all the effort and didn't get the line we came for, so we get it. Lines like that are precious, and I imagine it was that much better when you were finally on top, looking down the barrel. Stoked you got it in the end, and also stoked there's a whole lot more winter to go back and get it again. 4mon

sweetgrassp After almost a month of chasing sunrises, we got wise and trained our eyes on the west aspect, where drawn out cappuccino-Benedict breakfasts and 10am starts are not only possible, but encouraged. While mornings are more stable, clear, and cold, though, the afternoon here is more of a gamble. Clouds come off the pacific with a magnetic attraction to Mt Yotei, and perfect blue sky often turns to milk, clouds, and storm within minutes. Days on this volcano are an exercise in zen, and anytime you find yourself projecting perfect turns from the summit on the way up, you're reminded of the perfection of that very moment, and the fleeting nature of the weather, and of life. Right now might be all you ever get. After 14 days spent on the flanks of Yotei, hypnotized by its 360 degree conical perfection, the sun stayed for our parting day, and we said goodbye with even more questions, and in even more awe than ever before. @patagonia_snow @clifbarcompany : @karlosdelrio @markzitelli 4mon

sweetgrassp When we were living near Niseko, filming Signatures, @tarotamai would always talk about Mt Yotei as "the power spot." In ways mystical and more practical, that volcano had drawn people here. To live, to ski, to look. We'd watch locals start their days, opening their windows to look in the direction of Yotei. The mountains expression became their expression, their power and intention became the mountains power and intention, and then right back again in a sublime transfer of energy from the locals to the mountain and back again. Quantum physics if you subscribe. And standing on the crater rim this afternoon, then skiing down into the very mouth of the magma, at the epicenter of the energy, in awe and worship of the mountain and the people who call this place home. @patagonia_snow @karlosdelrio @markzitelli @laura.yale 4mon

sweetgrassp A solo meditation on masochism early this morning on Mt Yotei. 4am start after 4am start and eventually your mind leaves the body altogether. Like a religious ritual of self flagellation, you find salvation on the other end of the pain, through the repetition of one foot in front of the other day after day. At some point on the climb, you awake from a delirious hallucination to realize you're still on skis and you're still on a mountain. 6000 ft of sunrise powder later and you've reached nirvana. @patagonia_snow 4mon
