surfermama79 The world is always out there - telling you to do more, buy more, stay busy, and rush, rush, rush to get it all in so you don't miss a single thing. But, since I've become a Mom, I've been learning that I don't want to spend my life living that way. For me, it is in the intentional, natural life - the lack of busyness and in the small, simple moments - where joy and contentment are found.

surfermama79 It would be easy to look at certain circumstances in my life over the past year and get frustrated and depressed. And many people I know have even deeper and more difficult problems to overcome. There are certainly times to express negative emotions and let yourself wallow in pain or doubt. But, it is also easy to get trapped in cycles of feeling down or constantly wanting to know what will happen or how things will end up or if, for once in life, things could just go smoothly for a brief time! But, that is not how life works. As soon as one hurdle is finished, another takes its place. There is a constant ebb and flow of plenty, then want, joy followed by sorrow, struggle followed by triumph. Life's circumstances will never be perfect, so we have to consciously choose to bloom where planted, to consistently choose joy day in and day out, to recognize all that we do have that is so very, very good. Today, we can choose to not be weighed down by our circumstances and instead celebrate all that is good and amazing in our lives.
"Sometimes I need
only to stand
wherever I am
to be blessed." - Mary Oliver

surfermama79 One of my favorite things about being a parent is watching my kids' special sibling bonds with each other. As a homeschool family, my kids obviously spend all day/every day together, which means that one of our main focuses gets to be relationships. And isn't that what life is all about? you are my blue Italian lake, you are my piece of foreign sky.

surfermama79 My kids are really loving their new Maps book. The illustrations are so fun. The boys' favorite countries: India, China, Japan, and Egypt. Thanks for the recommendation @alison_winter ! 🌍 5d

surfermama79 Chilly rain does not deter these three. All I hear is shrieking laughter and squeals of joy as they run through the rain together. These small moments are what childhood is made of. 6d

surfermama79 First day of fall and it has actually felt like fall here in Coastal VA. My kids were loving it, and we spent almost the whole day outdoors enjoying the cloudy skies and cool temps with a little time snuggled indoors snuggling with blankets and books. 7d

surfermama79 A sweet morning tea party. I absolutely love the beginning of the day with my trio. Yes, mornings can still be quite hectic here with just me and three littles. I try to play good music and diffuse some oils while I'm cooking breakfast and getting ready for our day. And we are all morning people and up early; most days we watch the sunrise together in the yard. But, the fact that we aren't scrambling to get dressed, pack lunches, load backpacks, and rush out the door with me stressed to the max - absolutely priceless. 🌞 1w

surfermama79 The ocean is just good for the soul. No matter how hard it is to get three littles dressed, packed, and loaded to head to the beach and then lugging all the stuff and the baby down here like a pack mule - it is always, always worth it. My happy place. 1w
