sonia_murphy Fairholme, 41 Market Street, Guildford, 1910.

Beautiful Guildford, where the ghosts of convicts and pioneers walk the halls and kitchens close at 2pm.

I was driving around Guildford yesterday taking photos and stumbled across this magnificent gem. Fairholme was built with local materials for Cattle King Charles Smith in the Federation style with Art Nouveau details. In latter years it has been used by the Disabilities Service Commission.

Like our magnificent Regency house in Fremantle, it is a Grade 1a Heritage Protected property, it is on the State Important Buildings Register and National Trust classified, of course, like all grand homes of the time, it has a Ballroom.

It looks largely abandoned these days, yet chairs still sit on the veranda and benches on the lawn giving it a beautiful eery feeling.
The grounds are massive. It's sitting on at least 10,000sqm, if not 15,000.
Oh how I'd love to restore her.

sonia_murphy Picked up the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 on the weekend, primarily to get as many shots of our Regency house before it goes on the market in September. Pics of the grand old dame to come over the next couple of months. 2mon
