smidgeshea Busted out a new pair of classics out of my closet for some bench. Reebok classics=Bench PR's!! These are the most comfortable shoes for me to bench in by far. 1d

smidgeshea Sumo pullin feelin kinda good. The shorter range of motion of sumo is nice. Not that I have much of a ROM being a midget. 3d
  •   smidgeshea @meagannnr0se haha how tall are you?? It is a struggle sometimes lol. But sometimes u can use it to your advantage haha 2d
  •   meagannnr0se 5" flat, on a good day. My little arms are great for bench though. 2d
  •   lotus.training.official @smidgeshea smooth form man! 18h
  •   sheffieldsprayshop Your like me you don't breathe enough. That's awesome your 5" I swear it's an advantage lol 17h
  •   smidgeshea @sheffieldsprayshop haha I'm 5'3". Those 3 inches are crucial lol. It may sound weird but I actually try to not breath a lot during a set(unless high reps or anything over 3). I feel like I stay much tighter during the lift because when u breath you loosen up a bit. 17h
  •   sheffieldsprayshop Lol my bad, I thought you said 5 flat. Maybe that's why it works so well for me haha. I always get the you need to breath more from people. I guess what works, works right? As far as height and transfer that to length of arms and legs, your a good size. I'm 6'1 not massive tall, but it's hard to get past sticking points sometimes 17h
  •   smidgeshea @sheffieldsprayshop ppl tell me the same shit lol. Hit your weaknesses hard to bust through those sticking points. I used to get stuck 2 inches off my chest now I blast right through it. It takes time but is well worth the effort 17h
  •   sheffieldsprayshop Exactly, it's just when it's serious weight. I was 158 benching 435, bench is the toughest by far and that's where it seems shorter has advantage. A lot of my taller friends don't put up what I do, but then again I've seen just about anything lol. Did the army powerlifting team and competed nationally 16h

smidgeshea 310x5 on skwaatz. Been working on my form a lot and it's finally starting to feel good. Can't wait to start squattin some heavier weights!! 5d
  •   smidgeshea @ryanplourdepl i would love to soon. It would have to be on a Friday for sure 4d
  •   jaypr305 Yooo since we are in the same weight class, how did u size ur SBD sleeves and how do they feel I regards to difficulty putting them on and how it feels when you squat? I measured to medium as a tight fit but most people were saying to size it down one smaller. Bout to order them lol just trying to get a couple last opinions lol I 3d
  •   smidgeshea I got a small which is a tight fit for me. I have smaller legs lol. They are a pain in the ass to get on sometimes depending on humidity. I couldn't imagine trying to get a size down on haha. I would prob just go w a medium. I really like them and they are comfy. I would def recommend them 3d
  •   jaypr305 Wordddd my knee joint was 13.7 in but my calf was 14.5 ish I do wanna get some sort of rebound if any though lol 3d
  •   smidgeshea @jaypr305 some ppl say they get some rebound some say no. I say no. I've done a heavy single w em on then took em off and did it again and it honestly felt the same. 3d
  •   laura__mai Looks great! 15h
  •   smidgeshea @laura__mai thank ya much 15h

smidgeshea Started pulling only sumo tonight for the first time. Trying to get my form down but I'm rushing the set up I think. Usually I'm more of a grip n rip person so this is different for me. Any criticism from sumo pullers is GREATLY appreciated. 1w
  •   smidgeshea I'm def lacking in the hammy and glute region so Imma have to work on that. Even on my top set off the floor was fast so I'm really happy about that. @powerliftinglife thanks buddy! 1w
  •   jaypr305 Fuarkkkk u pull 365 so fast I crie 1w
  •   powerliftinglife Put like 85% of your conventional max on there and see how it feels. With your leverages you'll be better off pulling sumo. But I'll watn you your hips will take a besting 1w
  •   smidgeshea I pulled at around 85% today and felt nice. Easier than conventional. My hips are def feeling it but for some reason my knees get sore from sumo. I'm thinking it's mobility @powerliftinglife 1w
  •   smidgeshea @jaypr305 no lie you have motivated me to really start working on my bench. 1w
  •   powerliftinglife I had the same trouble at first. The speed of the pull definitely aggravates tendon and joint damage. But it gets better with time. It also has a huge carryover to your squat which is a really nice bonus. 1w
  •   hunter_beall I started out strictly sumo and I definitely use the grip and rip technique. The best thing I've learned from it is try and push your butt back like they say and get as low as you would for a below parallel squat to start and make sure to keep your hammies, glutes, and core tight 1w
  •   wallyycc @smidgeshea welcome to the summo squad 1w

smidgeshea Go follow my boi the Asian sensation @ayoliang kids only 16 and skwatz and pullz well over 5 bills. 2w
  •   smidgeshea @limauro36 he competed at that apa meet you did 2w
  •   limauro36 That's why he looked familiar didn't know he was 16 haha 2w
  •   ajchoiniere @smidgeshea you think you're cool saying bills instead of hundred lol 2w
  •   smidgeshea @ajchoiniere I prefer tool over cool lol 2w
  •   jack.k_ware Those look like really small 45s.... 2w
  •   smidgeshea @jack.k_ware yes they are. It's weird deadlifting with them 1w
  •   jack.k_ware @smidgeshea okay haha it looked like he we trying to pass off 35! 1w
  •   smidgeshea @jack.k_ware never!!!! Lol. I wouldn't if posted it if he was. The plates at that gym are smaller but weigh 45 each. You're basically pulling from a deficit all the time. But then when u go to use actual size plates you're tearing the weight off the floor like nothing 1w

smidgeshea Second set of 230x5. Pretty sure this is a PR for me seeing how my bench sucks. 3Hundo is the goal!! 2w
  •   loyal2afew 230 for 5? What the HELL? I find that to be extremely impressive. I suck at bench, it's so tough for me to get extreme activation of my lats. 2w
  •   loyal2afew Particularly at your weight class, that impressive. 2w
  •   smidgeshea @loyal2afew thanks bro!! I had the same problem. Just kept working at it and finally got it right. Keep grindin!! 2w
  •   loyal2afew Word! Thanks for the motivation! I'll definitely get it right someday. 2w
  •   smidgeshea @loyal2afew you competing again soon? 2w
  •   loyal2afew I'm not sure when. The last 3 weeks have been bad due to injury. I greatly injured my tailbone area from deadlifts which is just odd to me. I've been lifting for about 5 years, and 2 years were for powerlifting. I've never had an injury like this. I'm still lifting but I'm definitely not competition ready. The injury is definitely getting better. I believe I finally know how to fully recover it. You? 2w
  •   smidgeshea @loyal2afew damn bro I'm sorry to hear. Def don't try and rush the recovery process and just let it heal. Don't want to fuck yourself up. Hope it gets better soon. I'm gonna do the rps meet in Boston in October. Gonna do either bench or DL only. 2w
  •   loyal2afew Thanks for the encouragement man. I definitely won't rush it. Those are interesting choices. I never did a single or double lift competition. I hope you kill it though. 2w

  •   yoganicola You're so awesome! I want to try power lifting! Coach me! 4w
  •   smidgeshea @yoganicola haha well thank you!!! It's so much fun!!!! I could help you 4w
  •   yoganicola @smidgeshea DL 225, squat 185, bench 125. My body weight is 135.. I need to get those numbers way up right? 4w
  •   smidgeshea @yoganicola your bench is really good!! Squat and DL could be higher but everyone has to start somewhere. But assuming you have never trained for maximal weights that's pretty fucking good!!! 4w
  •   asian_strength Impressive dude @smidgeshea 4w
  •   atrantraining This is crazy! Nice work man! 4w
  •   tomuhs P4p strong AF 3w
  •   smidgeshea @tomuhs I'm trying man!! Thank you 3w

smidgeshea Can't wait to squat in my new @pioneerfit2014 lever belt tonight. Thank you @jai_marie5 you're the best 😀 1mon
  •   dvo_brah Is that an Inzer!?! I ordered mine and it's taking ages to get here 1mon
  •   pioneerfit2014 @darrel_vo our belts ship within a week no matter the color. Check out our site: www.generalleathercraft.com 1mon
  •   pioneerfit2014 Thank you @smidgeshea for the shout out! 1mon
  •   myfriendsoveryou Maybe you can help me. What's the difference between a squat belt, bench belt, and deadlift belt? 1mon
  •   smidgeshea @myfriendsoveryou as far as I know the belts that u use for squat and DL are the same. I don't use a belt for benching by have heard of some ppl using them to keep their bench shirts tight. 1mon
  •   pioneerfit2014 Mark Rippetoe came up with the idea of our dead lift belt. He said at the set up, a 4" belt for some people will slide up the back or prohibit proper posture. He thought that the 3" belt would offer adequate support without hindering posture throughout the pull. So a dead lift belt in my eyes is 3" all the way around, power belt is 4" all the way around, and training belt is 4" in back and 2.5" in the front @myfriendsoveryou 1mon
  •   loyal2afew Wow. That belt looks sooooo good!!! 1mon
  •   smidgeshea @loyal2afew thanks bud I love it!!! 1mon

smidgeshea My third deadlift attempt on Saturday was a disaster. Missing lifts you've made before is a huge motivator to get stronger. Form broke down before I even pulled. I'll get it next time. 2mon

smidgeshea Powerlifters are fat!!! Don't lift heavy weights. If you wanna get shredded do light weight high reps. Hours of cardio is a must!!! The More crunches you do the more your abs will pop. Squatting is bad for your knees and don't eat pop tarts!!! My #toolbag photo for this year. 2mon
