slashash My morning coffee usually turns into rearranging decor. I love the idea of leaning pictures and mirrors against the wall instead of hanging it. We'll see how long this will last. #ashleyshome #interiordecor #decor 2d

slashash Love how these high gloss cabinets can still feel warm and inviting by adding warmer woods and more natural elements. PS> Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. They mean the world to me! 6d

slashash Quiet time while the kids play army men. It's #NoTVThursday in our home today. I'm expecting a great day! The challenge that my 6 year old has given me the past few weeks has almost pushed me to my limit to sign him up for school instead of homeschooling. I find it more than ironic that it started only after I made my first homeschooling video a few weeks ago. My kids are not typical kids. I say that in all seriousness. These are definitely the most strong willed kids I've ever met and I owe it all to my husband(thanks, honey) I'm learning that it's not about breaking their will, it's about training it. God made them specifically to be leaders and if I try to undermine that by stooping to the immature level of trying to scare them by yelling at them or arguing with them because "that's the only way they hear me", that will get us NOWHERE and quite possibly make us go backwards. I've taken his bedroom door off and I've deleted every stupid mine craft and angry birds games off my phone and iPad. I'm done with allowing Robey to play on the phone in restaurants or when I just want to have an adult conversation with someone and make it convenient for me. I'm really relying on God to show me how to love Robey through his main love language. I love to decorate and I love fashion, but I really try to portray a typical life by not posting just daisies and roses over here. Okay, venting over. :) on a side note, I switched up my entire living room and am so far really happy with the results. I need to style this beast of an entertainment center and get new hardware for it. Its basically amazing. Entertainment centers are SO 90's. #the90sareback 😎 1w
  •   jenriley99 Oh girl, I'm right there in the trenches with you!! I so feel your pain. It is such a struggle. My 8-yr-old boy (and only child) gives me a run for my money! Having to learn some hard lessons and it's not fun, but I'm trusting that God is refining me through this parenting (and homeschooling) thing. I have been following you for a while, but I just felt inspired to comment and tell you I love your little family! You are not alone, and you are precious in His sight! 1w
  •   jacylenore I love your honest portrayal of your life!! My Instagram looks like honey and roses but our entire house is torn up and renovated, we barely have furniture, and I have an ugly kitchen I don't have kids yet but I always pay attention to godly women I look up to (like you) and how they are balancing family and then kids. I'm no expert, but it seems to me like you're doing the right thing instead of the "quick fix" or "easy way out." Just remember you have God standing with you, and your kids will grow up to be wonderful adults and leaders! (PS - I've told you this before, but I was homeschooled k-12. I think it was a really cool thing and my mom did an excellent job. My sister was the perfect candidate for it bc she was strong willed but self motivated and just excelled in it. Looking back I think I would have done better in school with more external motivation around me and a more structured environment to help me focus. My advice would be to just observe how your kids learn and where their motivation comes as you evaluate homeschooling vs. school along the way! :) ). 1w
  •   shalicenoel Thanks for sharing. So true 'it's not about breaking their will, but training it' so true. You're doing a great job 1w
  •   _cathlin_ I adore you!! I love how awesomely you open up! I have a really strong willed boy! NO JOKE! Good luck! 1w
  •   katecooperhathaway Have you heard of the book "loving our kids on purpose" by Danny Silk? By far the best "parenting" book ever. It's all about relying on God. I can't recommend it enough 1w
  •   cristinacar75 I agree that parents (including myself) use the videos games etc to our convenience. It's giving the wrong message to our kids. Thanks for the boost , I'm going to (yet again) remove the iPads etc as much as I can! @slashash 1w
  •   abbyminteriors Oh, God Bless you! Bravo for your honesty here. Been there. This is inspiring. You can do this! 6d
  •   lizleechavez Thanks for always being honest. :) I just love you!! And I noticed the entertainment right away! More pics soon? Curious to see how you're pulling it all together in the space. 6d
