sjpoppy Anyone know #whatplant this is? Almost looks like immature #rambutan . But we were not sure, and it doesn't look quite the same. It was a low growing bushy plant about a foot and a half tall. The " #fruit " was about the size of a golf ball, spiny but not extremely sharp. Pati and I found it growing in an abandoned-looking planter box in a parking lot, not far from #zocalo in #sanleandro . #whatplantisthis #gardening #gardens #bayarea 4w

sjpoppy Taken by Brendan. Opportunistic babies raiding the fridge!! This is from earlier tonight while we were making dinner. We looked away for like 3 seconds. And then turn back around, and..... yup. Seriously. Ha ha. Anyway, I thought y'all might appreciate the silliness. 4w

sjpoppy Original source photo (Added text is my edit): http://etnies.com/blog/2006/10/10/jim-mcneil-face-plants-ouch/

HuffPost article (source): http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5768510

Most of you probably already know about this. Just in case you didn't, do some research. This is not the only thing about the Ferguson police department's official story, and their actions post-shooting, that stinks. There is a TON of misinformation out there and a media frenzy with a dozen different stories. So many things don't add up. In spite of everything that has happened, there still seems to be no end in sight.

Google his name. Tragically, Jim McNeil died in 2011.

No matter what you feel about what has happened and what you believe about #mikebrown, we should all be able to agree on some things. Namely, that posting FAKE, stolen pictures, in an obvious attempt to muddy the waters, confuse everyone and further taint any possible chance we might ever have of finding out what really happened, is truly reprehensible.
Furthermore, when this photo first began circulating after it was "released," why did the police department in Ferguson not IMMEDIATELY speak up to inform the public that it was inaccurate? Why did they instead knowingly allow it to be circulated among law enforcement agencies and the public?

Makes one wonder. And it sure doesn't help their image.
The people of #Ferguson , and all of the rest of us all over the country, as well, deserve to know the #truth. It is time for the Ferguson PD to #stopcirclingthewagons and #justtellthetruth already. #justice starts with a straight story.
We are all brothers and sisters on this planet. Life is fleeting. Be kind to one another and always endeavor to do the right thing. Be considerate, be passionate, be conscious. Race is #skindeep - we all bleed the same, we all love, cry, and laugh. Don't let racism separate and polarize us further. My heart goes out to the people of Ferguson, and to all the families everywhere who have lost loved ones. #weareallinthistogether #moveforward

  •   spyceitup @teelex_ wow ! 1mon
  •   spyceitup What's crazy is... You can clearly tell this isn't Wilson just by the hairline and color !!!! 1mon
  •   sjpoppy @spyceitup I know, right? There is a small, but not even really passing resemblance (mostly the nose and jawline, in my opinion), but otherwise it's really obvious that this pic is not Wilson. The chin is very different along with hairline, hair color and general silhouette. 1mon
  •   sjpoppy I think there were 2 things which made me the most angry about this.

    1) that this was an obvious, BLATANT attempt by the media and law enforcement to damage the public's (as well as other law enforcement agencies in other areas!) opinion and impression of who Mike Brown was to try to instill a false idea of what kind of "thug" he supposedly was..... as if, even if it WERE true that he had injured the officer, it somehow (in a completely crazy world!) even remotely justified what Wilson did to him. My reaction from day one was basically, for God's sake people there is no justification, ever, to gun an unarmed citizen down in cold blood, including shooting them in the back! Ever! And yet that seems to be exactly what happened. Even if we were to set racism aside for a moment (and yes, that is basically impossible because it is so obvious that a very, very big element to what happened to Mike, as well as the police response afterwards, is racism with a capital R), what about simple, general citizen's rights? The whole incident should never have happened. It makes me sick.
    2) The other thing that made me angry:
This was also incredibly disrespectful to Jim McNeil, his family, and his memory. It is so terrible that his picture was stolen and heartlessly used to perpetuate a lie like this. I have no words for it. I can't even imagine how his friends and family must be feeling right now. My heart goes out to them, too.

I could keep going on and on. I obviously don't know Mike Brown or his family, and I can't and won't pretend to know what they or the community in Ferguson is going through. What I can do is offer my condolences, my heartfelt thoughts and my prayers. I live in Oakland, CA, and saw the kind oh s#!t that went on during Occupy as well as what happens here on a daily basis. I am so sick of so much police corruption, here and everywhere. I'm sick of so many people being hurt and demonized because of race and racism. It has to stop. And if we don't all speak up and DO something, it will never end. 1mon

sjpoppy Pretty little volunteer plant that Pati transplanted awhile ago. Anyone know #whatplant this is?? It had smooth, fleshy succulent-like leaves and smooth stems. It is kind of show growing. It is healthy and hearty, though, and is starting to vine. #whatplantisthis #homesteading #gardening #gardens #gardensbythebay #backyard #urbanfarming 2mon

  •   ladylaileanah Beautiful picture and beautiful healthy way to feed your precious baby who is NOT too old. Ignorance abounds it seems @sjpoppy 3mon
  •   ktwags_2boyz Congrats on nursing your LO, this long it's so awesome to see moms nursing toddlers. Only in America do people have negative responses to something so beautiful and rewarding. Keep up the great work. #breastisbest 3mon
  •   my_three_sons Beautiful... 3mon
  •   sjpoppy Thanks everyone- @ktwags_2boyz @ladylaileanah @breepriest @patilois @hellapagan and everyone else who liked the photo. I felt the need to revisit this. These were the first pictures I've ever shared of one of my children #breastfeeding. At first I really did think that maybe I knew this guy and didn't recognize him or something; and thought that he meant something innocent, such as that Cailean is getting so big, etc. Now I do see the obvious more troll-like nature of his post. 3mon
  •   sjpoppy @sixfoot7man , I hope you can decide to examine your motivations for posting that comment, and can hopefully move beyond such an #antiquated and #sexist view. First, what is "too old" to #nurse? In pretty much every country except for the #USA, the average age when children wean is somewhere around 2, give or take. In some countries it is much later. Second, the baby in these pictures was #7monthsold at the time. Surprised? He has a lot if hair, right?? Third- only in the USA (someone correct me if I'm wrong!) are #breasts so completely and utterly over-sexualized that breastfeeding #moms are (were? This is SLOWLY changing) expected to totally remove them themselves from society. It is ridiculous. Thankfully, it is changing, but as a society we have a long way to go.

Breastfeeding is #beautiful. It is best for babies and should always be the first choice if possible. Sometimes it's not possible, and that is ok- my first child had to be in the NICU for 3 days, and I was lucky that I was able to get my milk started on the hospital pump. I would have been sad if I hadn't been able to nurse him, but not ashamed. Women need to be #celebrated and #supported for breastfeeding, so that more DO feel that they CAN do so successfully and happily.

Stepping down off my #sopabox now. 3mon
