sjanaelise Osaka is such a quirky place! I love it! I'd describe it as "The Vegas of Japan".. By day the streets are packed (shopping is hard enough without being consumed by the crowds haha!) so I found a quiet(er) escape from the hectic herds, basking in the sunshine by this canal today, and watched the world fly past.. Coffee (tea or matcha green tea lattes in my case!) takes forever to actually get a hold of.. Mostly because there is a line up for everything here! Even the bathroom! But also because the Japanese culture is so organised, calm and polite that everything is done with careful precision, wrapped up neatly with beautiful (yet unnecessary) packaging and then gifted to you with a smile.. Waiting for your food/drink is certainly the definition of patience in practice!
The night life here is even more hectic in the city! I feel like There are enough neon lights here in this singular city to light up the entire country! Girls ride around on bikes in stilettos! Crossing the road is an actual challenge and restaurants either close ridiculously early or seem to stay open forever! It's also nearly impossible to find public bins here in Japan.. They are excellent recyclers so apparently it is common to take all rubbish home with you to dispose of it correctly. (In Australia the lack of rubbish bins would only increase the amount of rubbish/pollution unfortunately! And here, its rare to find any sort of rogue trash!) The bin struggle is real!! @contiki #japanunrivalled

sjanaelise Early mornings, rising before the sun, morning movement, endorphin releasing exercise, stretch it out with yoga, a healthy breakfast to nourish your body and mind, get stuff done, know your priorities, go for a swim, submerge yourself in saltwater, get some daily vitamin D, seek beauty, go to new places, be adventurous, be spontaneous, treat yourself to nutrient rich foods, eat colourfully, smile more, make others smile, hug your loved ones, tell them you treasure them, unwind, meditate, do the things you enjoy with people who make you happy, read more, connect by disconnecting every now and then, enjoy a cuppa tea (or 3!) get enough sleep and forgive yourself. doing good feels good - there is no reason to deny yourself that pleasure 3d

sjanaelise Heres to change - To motivation transforming into an unrivalled determination, and the urgency for goodness and wellness concquering all forms of negativity.
Heres to hope.
Heres to new beginnings.
Heres to walking away from excuses.
Heres to welcoming a challenge with an open mind.
Heres to ridding ourselves of self doubt.
Heres to striving to better ourselves, regardless of anyone elses opinion.
Heres to strong people, with even stronger minds.
Heres to eagerness for greatness.
Heres to unexpected inspiration.
Heres to thanking the people who support us, for encouraging and reassuring us at the moments we need it.
And heres to thanking the people who don't support us, for pushing us just that little bit harder.
This is my pledge, my promise for change. Not for the approval, praise or respect of anyone other than myself.. Here's to heart & health; wellness of both body and mind. Is it time you made a personal pledge too..? Maybe its something you can do with a friend? A sibling? A cousin or even your parents!
Here's to finally MAKING the changes you want in your life.
Cheers! #writtenbysjana

sjanaelise Today we visited Todaiji Temple and Nara deer park This is the main hall, the Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall) and it is the world's largest wooden building (despite only being two thirds of the original temple hall's size). The hall is home to Japans largest bronze statues of Buddha - sitting at a whopping 15metres in height! (They say his ears are 2 metres tall!!) The other popular attraction is a pillar with a hole in its base that is the same size as the Buddhas nostril. It is said that those who can squeeze through this opening will be granted enlightenment in their next life.. @contiki #japanunrivalled 4d

sjanaelise this is exactly like the running of the bulls.
Except it's a deer.
And only one.
And in Japan.
And instead of running through the streets of Spain, he's running through my legs.. So really it's absolutely nothing like the running of the bulls.
