shutterbug0504 You never know what you'll come across when you're walking the beach at sunrise.#shark I think it's going to be a pool day today! #sharkweek 3w
  •   allieqb My husband and kids came upon it around 9am and talked to the beach patrol. It was apparently attacked by another shark. The beach patrol buried it in the sand. Sad loss regardless, but think it wasn't fishing related. 2w
  •   jbeyer48 I was there when the beach patrol was burying the shark. According to him, the shark was attacked by another shark. Probably hooked, broke the line, and then attacked after. Likely died of exhaustion and washed ashore. 2w
  •   shutterbug0504 @allieqb @jbeyer48 My husband and I came across this shark at sunrise. There was a hook with a steel leader in its mouth. He took it out and threw it in the trash so no one would get hurt on it. By the time we walked back around 8:00 the tide was taking it back out to sea. Where were you staying? 2w
  •   jbeyer48 At the Marriott by Palmetto Dunes. Someone must have pulled it up by the grass line by the time I saw it. According to the beach patrol, the gills were bitten by another shark, but it hadn't bled out on the beach. It's the reason I think that the shark probably died of exhaustion. 2w
  •   shutterbug0504 @jbeyer48 I'm just thankful there weren't any more sharks where we were swimming! Thanks for sharing the rest of the story. I was wondering what happened to it. 2w
  •   jbeyer48 It has been a weird shark week. My kids and I saved a beached blackfin shark baby (same kind as the one that washed to shore) the next day that washed to shore. #hiltonhead is a heavily populated shark area from what I can tell. 2w
  •   shutterbug0504 @jbeyer48 Wow, that's crazy. I was worried about the jellyfish. If one of these sharks came around me while I was swimming I think I would have totally freaked out, lol!! 2w
