sheppieshots On the northern borders of the county of Wiltshire stands the town of Malmesbury - being the oldest borough in England it dates back to the middle of the 6th century; when the invading Saxons from Germany wrestled this last part of the country from the Britons.
The Monastery shown above was built in 676AD.
The Abbey was the site of an early attempt at human flight when, during the early 11th century, the monk Eilmer of Malmesbury (named the "Mad Monk of Malmesbury) attached wings to his body and flew from a tower. Eilmer flew over 100 metres before landing, breaking both legs. He later remarked that the only reason he did not fly further was the lack of a tail on his glider. It housed the second largest library in Europe during the 11th and 12th century.

Shot was taken on a very dark snowy morning last winter in the grounds of Coworth Park near Ascot, England.

Throughout the 1800’s the estate has passed through the hands of a number of owners. King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra stayed there in 1879 and 1883 to enjoy the racing at nearby Ascot.
Hope your all having a great weekend!

sheppieshots We all have the ability to express and also to be blind to it.. To feel and to withdraw, to hold dear or to push away. To be of substance, or to be without expression.
-----
In the manner of being human we can hurt, harm and be malicious. To be envious and without care. But what truly makes us human is our ability to love, to cherish, to praise, to be selfless and limitless.
This is fundamentally what makes us our most empowered selves and what makes us rise up above all humanity - to be soulful in our search for the greater good. To shine a buring light of hope in all our greatest endeavours. We are all equal in this - we seek our answers in the journey of life, just as nature seeks its journey in our lives. The immortality of earth is our to grasp, to hold and cherish; to safe keep and champion. We are the guardians of the our world and it's prophet of future generations.

Been ill with flu/chest infection this week my dear IG friends, so pulling this summery floral shot from my unedited archives. I love the colour yellow as it reminds me of sunshine, a rare thing this last year in the UK! Peace, love and unity. We can achieve it, we only have to be our true sunny selves! Enjoy!

sheppieshots I know this goes without saying, but Stonehenge really was the most incredible accomplishment. It took five hundred men just to pull each sarsen, plus a hundred more to dash around positioning the rollers. Just think about it for a minute. Can you imagine trying to talk six hundred people into helping you drag a fifty-ton stone eighteen miles across the countryside and muscle it into an upright position, and then saying, 'Right, lads! Another twenty like that, plus some lintels and maybe a couple of dozen nice bluestones from Wales, and we can party!' Whoever was the person behind Stonehenge was one dickens of a motivator, I'll tell you that. - Bill Bryson 2y
