sheblondeswede For dessert, the classic Iles Flottant. Translation: Floating Islands. Description: A light fluffy meringue floating, check that, swimming in a sea of Crème Anglaise, which is basically melted vanilla ice cream. I once mistakenly ordered this at a restaurant on another trip to Paris at the turn of the century and was confused and slightly disgusted by what I ate. But this one was magic. The meringue was light and airy, like eating dense, moist bubbles. And the crème anglaise was perfect: creamy, with great vanilla flavor, and not too sweet. sheblondeswede This is the real deal: Filet au Poivre. The steak was slightly cooked more well done than I asked for, but it was still tender and juicy. And the cream sauce. Lord, the cream sauce. I told you they put it on everything. It was perfect for dipping the frites in. sheblondeswede One last set of #foodporn from #paris. On the second last day, I went old school and went to this bistro I've been wanting to try for the entire trip. I'm fairly sure my waiter hated me (I guess that made the experience more authentic?), but the food was damn good. This is fried eggs with fresh morel mushrooms. Holy hell this was tasty! The mushrooms were fresh and intensely mushroomy flavored. And I want to put the cream sauce on everything, which they did, actually. I sopped all the juicy goodness up with the excellent bread. #europeantour #paris #foodporn #forkingood 5d
