shanedorian 90% of Americans support mandatory GMO labeling. We all want to know what's in the food we buy, you can put pressure on our government to do the right thing by signing the petition to support GMO labeling- link to the petition is in my bio! vote only for representatives that support the same initiatives as you do. I signed it just now while eating my favorite non GMO snack #noGMO signforgood.com/stopthedarkact/ also at naturalnews.com you can find out exactly which of our representatives voted to ban GMO labeling and NOT vote for them in the near future @perfectbar 1w

shanedorian Many people on the big island have no idea that geothermal "exploration" is underway here in Kona right now. They are trying to find "potential" for expanding geothermal on the Kona side. I've been trying to learn all I can by going to public meetings and researching as much as I can. The geothermal plant on the southeast side (Puna) has had many serious problems, including many "uncontrolled releases" where they could not shut it down while tons of toxic gasses and chemicals including hydrogen sulfide and heavy metals were released into the air. I spoke to people who have been very sick for most of their lives from living near the plant. No one knows whether the water wells are contaminated or how sick people are getting. IF YOU LIVE IN WEST HAWAII and are concerned about the future of our water, air, food, sea life, our children and pretty much everything else that this will affect, please come to the public county council meeting tomorrow. West Hawaii Civic Center at 9am!!! For the record, I'm not anti-geothermal I am just concerned and people deserve all the facts and to be aware of exactly what is happening in our community. For more info on the local geothermal issues please check out punapono.com 2w
  •   baerdenniston @r0s1e Try being less ignorant 'bro' - just to clarify (as it seems difficult for you to follow) I'm not trying to catch bees, I'm stating the facts. The advice is much appreciated though. 2w
  •   baerdenniston @swisssteak 'Had you been alive' ummm well, they're still burning and extracting today. So I'd venture to say that yes, you are alive. But as long as it's not your backyard who gives a shit right? Those folks don't have children, families livestock and crops. Keep importing your oil. A+ for ignorance! 2w

  •   creamabuscaro @shanedorian as uncomfortable as it is to face you could call this karmic. We, as a nation and people, do much, much worse to people and places abroad for cheap oil to fuel our cars and 4x4's with, to make our wetsuits and surfboards, to heat and cool our homes... Have you ever visited the oil rich regions of Africa and the M.E.? What we're doing to those people for cheap, messy energy is as evil as evil gets. As much of a dick as the guy you blocked may be he has some valid points, especially about the "backyard syndrome"You could say that the Devil is coming home to roost. And he has one hell of an appetite. 7d
  •   shanedorian I agree about his valid points @creamabuscaro and with yours. we are dependent on cheap oil and do messed up things to get it. Those are the facts. There are no great solutions to the energy crisis and that is exactly why it is a crisis. I'm fine with anyone making valid points and even fine with invalid points. I'm not fine with people being rude on my page and get a little bit of stoked from blocking people that are. 5d
  •   creamabuscaro @shanedorian for sure he was being a dick and deserved a block. The energy future is a scary one and we all need to be talking about it for sure. It was integral to my studies at UCSB so I don't take it lightly. People in Hawaii should really look into things like Windspire tech. Check it out. 3d

shanedorian In the U.S., the vast majority of the funding for wildlife conservation comes directly from hunters. The money goes to purchase more land for wildlife, to enhance animal habitat and manage healthy wildlife populations. Many people assume that hunters are a wild animals worst enemy, but that is far from the truth. I see nothing wrong with hunting your own food, and the system works well. 2w
