saspetherick serious Friday vibes going on over here...🏻😴 4d
  •   themelmartin I am so envious. My house is a tip after the decorators been and the husband is assembling a to stand thingy (I was all for getting rid of it but no apparently we need a TV) and I just want to get everything back in order. I think I may just have to take myself off and meditate. #longestcommentever 4d
  •   saspetherick Oh that's the worst! Still, post-decoration putting everything back is the best 3d
  •   milenawiddowson Love the snoozing fur in the sunlight 🌞 3d
  •   saspetherick @milenawiddowson she's an inspiration :) 3d

saspetherick hey lovely people! here's a fun thing to do on a Friday - discover your strengths! the thoughtful folks at @storeforthemind asked me to take a test as part of their fabulous #drawonyourstrengths project - you can discover your strengths and get the pencils as a sweet reminder. 4d

saspetherick 11 years ago we stayed awake all night on the beach at Gallipoli to commemorate ANZAC day. It still breaks my heart that Turkey named this beach after an invading force and then memorialised the battle with this poem to the kiwi and aussie mothers of the soldiers, carved in rock on the headland: "Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives…
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours…
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace, after having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."
Ataturk, 1934

saspetherick fabulous community wander through our neighbourhood with the local wildlife trust this morning. we discovered this giant copper beech, learnt that Bronze Age roundhouses were unearthed in the top field, and Henry VIII took Catherine of Aragon on a date to our local #thisisengland #berkshire 1w

  •   saspetherick @_stephanella me too! It was kind of startling to see it amongst all the greenery! 6d

saspetherick this first aid box from the 1940s hung on a wall in a veterans hospital in Wales. now it sits next to my orange velvet wingback chair (another eBay find) where I meditate each day. I love how these old things are now part of my history. do you have a favourite old thing that's new to you? #mymindfulyear #oldthings #thisisengland 2w
  •   saspetherick @roxannesukhan ohh that IS a treasure! 2w
  •   jillian.ayer @saspetherick I have a framed photo of the day my grandmother immigrated from England to America. She was about 12 urs old in the photo and has an enormous white bow standing on top of her head. My grand aunt (with an equally enormous white bow) and grand uncle (in a suit coat and knickers) are standing with her, faces forward in that unsmiling way pictures where once taken. It's a true treasure for me to own a picture that changed the course of history for my family tree. ️️️ 2w
  •   saspetherick @jillian.ayer wow! I love old family photos. I have one of my grandparents on one of their first dates at the top of Durham cathedral (a reporter was there and took it). You've inspired me to get it framed xxx 2w
  •   jillian.ayer @saspetherick beautiful! 2w
