sarcasticquilter It's hard to see but I am pleased. I am using a new baptist fan tool & it's working like a charm. My smooth line blips are a result of fuzzies on my rails rather than messing up with the ruler. go figure. #sarcastiquilting @karie_twokwikquilters 2d
  •   orchidowlquilts It looks great! What kind of ruler are you using? 2d
  •   sarcasticquilter @orchidowlquilts it's the Top Anchor Quilting Baptist fan tool. It's so easy for me to work with I may end up getting a couple of their other tools also. I tried the HQ half circle/fan rulers but my quilting style just didn't jive with them 2d
  •   orchidowlquilts @sarcasticquilter I'll have to look into that. I suck with rulers and they make me say very bad words. 2d
  •   karie_twokwikquilters It is fabulous!!!!! 2d
  •   sarcasticquilter lol @orchidowlquilts they have about 5 but if you look them up on you rub you can see how they work. They work on pivot points! :) 2d
  •   quiltingprincess I love this! I'm definitely going to look into this ruler! 2d

sarcasticquilter Thanks, timehop for showing me how things have changed. 2 years ago hubs surprised me & bought me this so we could have a "matched set" with consecutive serial numbers when he saw them at the gun show. Last weekend he bought a new Glock 43. Just one, for him... With his preferred sights so I can't even sneak it to my safe. Oh wait! I got a new longarm at the end of June. Nevermind Timehop, I am better off than 2 years ago. You tried to make hubs out to have forgotten to think of me & you almost had me but I remembered the truth! Take that. 3d
  •   mommasponge Timehop is a sneaky bastard! 3d
  •   amyjoquilts Ooooh. I have my sights set on a Glock 42. You have yourself a pretty gun there. 3d
  •   plumpatchwork A matched set with consecutive serial numbers! That's adorable and I love it! 3d
  •   gmom13 Matching serial numbers, that is love!! Have to tell my hubby!!! 3d

  •   duhquilts I'm glad I reread it cuz ....no, I'm not going to say....geesh duh. 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter Perhaps your mind will forget when you see it complete. And now I can't unsee... @duhquilts you can't lead me and not expect me to leap, too! 5d
  •   duhquilts Now I'm wondering if we both leapt into the same mess lol 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter I'm fairly certain or my mind is far dirtier 5d
  •   duhquilts I'm sure I'm older than you therefore my mind has been in the gutter longer. 5d

sarcasticquilter For you @szyhomemaker this is all it is. These folks are at a lot of the quilt shows here in the East. (www.teacherstamp.com) 1- put some shaving cream (they recommend Barbasol but I used dollar store brand & works fine) & drops of the dye together. A little shaving cream goes a long way. 2 - mix well if you want a solid color. You can do a marbalized effect if you are dying an entire piece of cloth instead of stenciling. 3- stencil. Use spray baste on the back of the stencil to keep it from moving. 4- wait for it to dry then heat press (no need to pretext fabric due to their dye). You can use a pressing sheet to protect your iron if concerned. #BroadwayMiniQuiltSwap fabric stencils being chosen 5d
  •   karie_twokwikquilters Can't wait to see it finished!!! 5d
  •   pearlycow Wow this idea has come along at the right time for me for another project - question please Miss, does it have to be any particular type of dye, or can I use concentrated tea, do you think? 5d
  •   zidisha Wow! Shaving cream, who'd have guessed?! Thanks for sharing; I can't wait to try this! 5d
  •   pearlycow ps first time commenter, long time follower and blog reader. Love your stuff! 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter @pearlycow @zidisha I have no idea if other dyes will work. I only know that this type works with the shaving cream as a transfer medium so that the fabric doesn't need to be pretreated & heat will set it once dry. I only use it for not generally washed projects but presumably it won't wash out. No idea, though. 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter And thanks @pearlycow I've been thinking a lot how neglectful I've been with the blog but with a few life changes having taken place. I'm hopeful to get back to it soon 5d
  •   pearlycow Thanks for that @sarcasticquilter only one way to find out I guess! 5d
  •   pearlycow .. And last question from the curious one, what type of dye did you use? 5d

sarcasticquilter #broadwayminiquiltswap sometime's I wait until the last minute & then start working on the ideas percolating in my head. I created a loose guide foundation pattern to sew partner, based in the playbill, but then I realize I had some ombré fabric & I can appliqué & if I can appliqué the king & lady, then what to do for the beautiful scroll work? Wait! I've stencil dyed fabric before. Maybe... So now I'm testing. Will dying work on already died batiks I wonder? If not, how about the ombré? Those aren't really the important questions, though. What's truly important is, have I freaked you out yet partner? 😈 6d

sarcasticquilter I am planning a date with this lady tonight. Prescriptions are kicking in and I feel out of sorts w/the meds but I am eager for some sewing time. I also want a beer but that would be a bit stupid tonight. -sigh- 6d
  •   tleecollins I'm with you!!! The liquid necessity will only help you relax! 6d
  •   linder628 You take care of the sewing, I'll take care of the beer 6d

sarcasticquilter You may not be able to tell but this is an "ahh" face. I broke out in hives after some bug bite last week. I thought it was poison ivy the way it had spread parentheses never having hives parentheses but yesterday with all the constant inching that was still happening I remembered I initially thought I had been bitten by something & took some Benadryl. It's been making me tired but the hives have reduced quite a bit. I am trying ice packs to keep the areas cool in between doses so I don't scratch & make them worse. Mornings & evenings are the worse! Behind knees, inside elbows, wrists, neck & chin. And really, gives for the first time at 41? Boo!! @luvbaletty any other ideas? 7d
  •   sewshimmery I have idiopathic hives too. My endocrinologist says Zrytec and Zantac. Also Benadryl to take the edge off. I itch so bad I've drawn blood. Hope yours goes away soon 7d
  •   morrlezlie Try putting ice in a dish, then pour witch hazel over it. It gets super cold and you use the wet witch hazel rag as a compress. We've been doing this for years on my girls who are both allergic to mosquito bites 7d
  •   renbean Mom doesn't check IG that much. She more on FB. Best to call 7d
  •   renbean It's the meanness coming out!!! 7d
  •   stacistories That really sucks!! I have an ointment that my ND proscribed last time I had allergy hives, and it worked wonders for the itch. I'll send you a photo and the name. 6d
  •   karie_twokwikquilters ️ uggggg 6d
  •   sewin4him I had hives for an entire month once...broke out after trying to mow my yard. The doctor finally put me on a combination of Zyrtec and Zantac and they were gone after two doses. 6d
  •   cindy540 Zyrtec is worth it's weight in gold! IMHO 5d

sarcasticquilter Have you ever just let your nose tell you when something is cooked? I do all the time & today I was reminded that organic, grass fed beef, when cooking smells more like what people associate with hunted game than the typical beef purchased in the store. You know what else? It also smells fantastic. Add garlic, onion, cabbage & tomatoes, post a picture & you might just be able to make all your friends jealous, too. #cleaneating 1w
  •   supersara20 My mom does this and calls it unstuffed cabbage rolls! 1w
  •   allisonfletcher78 My dad is grilling chicken - yum 1w
  •   theoriginaltrash I also measure many things by eye too. Drives Girlchild's bestie nuts. 1w

sarcasticquilter What @karie_twokwikquilters asks for, Karie gets. If smell is any indication, this is going to taste amazing! Sun-dried tomato chicken pasta credit to http://pinterest.com/pin/118289927690054707/. Turns out, it was great! If you like sundries tomatoes, this is a good one. I used ones that were in oil w/Italian seasoning. 2w

As hosts of the #minionminiquiltswap Karie and I felt it was our civic duty to check out the new minion movie..... We enjoyed it!
2w
  •   randcbxl I have a question, if I may. Do the minions speak English? I saw it in French and they seemingly speaking a mix of French and Spanish. Confusingly.... 2w
  •   renbean Ur at the theater!!! 2w
  •   stacistories @randcbxl Saw an article last year explaining that the words of their 'language' are pulled from all over the world, but the most recognizable are the french and spanish-- plus a bunch of sounds and gestures. Just not english... 2w
  •   sarcasticquilter @renbean home long before you called 2w
  •   randcbxl @stacistories Ah! Thank you 2w
