sarcasticquilter Super chocolaty cookies that are only 75 calories each! Seriously. I tend to think there's no reason to try to make cookies or cakes healthy but this one recipe just had me curious for a while so today, I made it and am pretty surprised. I say this in all the seriousness of being a bit of a snob when it comes to substitutions in my desserts. These were good. Still shocked. So what is it? Avocado Chocolate Cookies!! Yes. You read that correctly. Just. Um. Wow. In a good way. Here's the recipe I used. http://thesmoothielover.com/healthy-avocado-chocolate-cookies/ (top right pic. Curtesy of the website and recipe maker @josefinetm - thanks for the good recipe!) #sweatnsew 3d
  •   jeifner Scared to make these but it sounds interesting 3d
  •   renbean Ummm no 3d
  •   sarcasticquilter @jeifner & @renbean I KNOW! Exactly my feeling but curiosity won out. Kid 1 said it is too chocolaty (he's not a big chocolate fan) & had no idea it was made w/avocado. I'm going to have hubs try it when he eats to see if it tastes off to him. We will not rely on my tastebuds alone. 3d
  •   aboutkirstin I've made them and they are amazing! 3d
  •   josefinetm Wohooo! So glad you like them 3d
  •   renbean Let me know 3d
  •   sarcasticquilter @renbean he said he'd never have known they were made with avocado. This first batch I made with avocado & honey. The next batch I'll try with the floor & back just a little longer b/c I like a little more crunch to the cookies. These were a chewy brownie texture 2d
  •   renbean You make them next time I see you. Jury's still out 1d

sarcasticquilter Somebody missed me while I was gone with the college kid move in. Hubs said he & my other pup sat by the windows all day waiting for me. In other news, I'm finally catching up on all my DVR'd #sytycd shows & think watching all these 10th anniversary routines are leaving me feeling pretty raw after the college kid move. Jury is still out if I'll go from teary-eyed to full on cry, though @karie_twokwikquilters @amylouwhosews . Hmm, maybe I should drink more wine & send I love you texts. 5d

sarcasticquilter Well @patcrawford314 is all moved in at GMU. I couldn't resist teasing him b/c the best hugs I ever get are the ones where I say hug me back like you mean it or I'll big you forever. he's done well & I'm proud of you, Pat. Have fun, study hard and stay safe. #heresahashtagforricky 5d
  •   dukesayssewwhat We need a splash of color! Maybe a quilt?! Hope Pat has a great year! 5d
  •   gmom13 I say the same thing about hugs to my 14 year old!! Good luck to Pat! 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter @dukesayssewwhat he asked that I wait on doing one b/c his current plan is to be here only a year then try to transfer to another school but he also thinks he might stay so... a quilt is on hold 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter @theshortmunchkin yes I will. Lol 5d
  •   mumziepooh Wow-I moved my daughter in Tuesday and its and explosion of color and paintings and quilts! My girl NESTS! 5d
  •   sarcasticquilter @mumziepooh they don't want to put anything up until they can bunk the beds. Killed me but he wanted it that way. Lol 5d
  •   mumziepooh Oh my son loved his Spartan looking room. It's so different with girls! 5d
  •   sindyzelezen Aw - hugs from sons are the best! I dropped mine off at a BBQ at his friend's the other night and jokingly said "I won't make you hug me cause all your friends are watching" and he replied by giving me a huge hug and saying "love you mummy" 5d

sarcasticquilter So this pretty much sums up how I feel as I'm getting ready to help @patcrawford314 pack up the truck & move into the GMU dorms. I have high hopes @dukesayssewwhat that he might make his bed here like Mitch. We will see! #heresahashtagforricky 6d

sarcasticquilter Helping a friend out by doing a little straight line quilting for her son's quilt. First, though, going to remove the 3 or 4 rows she started so I can put it up on the frame without the spray basting interfering. I fear it will lead to wrinkles quilted in due to having been rolled up. No matter working with quilts puts me in my happy place. #sarcasticquilting 2w

sarcasticquilter Even the minions think these #zoodles with sauce look good! And the were. Sauce consists of carrots, onion, garlic, a little celery, mushrooms, chopped cherry tomatoes, salt & pepper & half a jar of garlic & herb sauce. Mostly #cleaneating #sweatnsew 2w

sarcasticquilter Imagine a big cup of coffee & this is my first couple of hours today. A strawberry #shakeology With frozen cherries (so good!), 1 more row before this quilt is off the frame & a customer quilt goes on, & a large black coffee hubs came home with when finishing shift. This is a good way to start today, despite issues with our financing for the house build. Seriously, what kind of appraiser doesn't even go to the property & look at it for an appraisal but uses county tax assessment & then calls it fair market value?! -nope, nope... Sipping this ️ & finding my zen place again. I will call we and ask those questions later today 2w
  •   amyvaughn74 Appraisers seem to do a lot of odd things. I think they do it to see how stressed they can get people 2w
  •   gogokim You are building!!!! YAY!!! 2w
  •   gogokim I need to call you and PayPal you some quilt 2w

sarcasticquilter Well, last year I posted this & said it was a mistake for @karie_twokwikquilters to share her phone number with me knowing I was going to be working on one of her patterns. That is a long time pattern writer she should've known better. A year later she still tolerates me waking her up early for any reason because she hasn't changed her phone number! I just have to say that in my defense, it's hard to wait until later when you want to talk quilt shit with a friend. 2w
  •   auntiepami Best phone calls ever. 2w
  •   karie_twokwikquilters I've learned to turn the phone on airplane mode at night though!!! 2w
  •   amanicustoms This is so funny to me! You wouldn't believe how many people text me over in the night apologizing for texting so late but I don't hear/see it until I wake since my phone automatically goes into Do Not Disturb mode from 11pm - 7am. There's certain people (like 2) that call comes through at anytime (in case of emergency) - all others know that if its that important to call my husband! 2w
  •   sarcasticquilter Hehehe @amanicustoms great use of do not disturb! I actually only bug Karie after I see her post on IG or somewhere else first now unless it's a real friend issue. Lol. @karie_twokwikquilters wise woman! 2w

sarcasticquilter Alright folks, spread the word that partner assignments started going out yesterday & the rest should be sent today. Some of us mods just need coffee before we attempt to make more sense of mail merge instructions. Okay, 1 of us mods. Okay, it's me! There, I admit it. Since I lack a personal assistant to do all my admin. Work or fetch me more coffee, I ask for a little patience. But be excited, too, because this round is going to be fun!!! #schnitzelandboominiquiltswap #quiltersofawesome #makeaquiltmakeafriend. Dang! I do need ️ if I missed that big typo in the picture. -sigh- I'd delete & redo but this just supports my case. 2w
  •   sewbeecino I totally scrolled back up to find it. I'm at the opposite end of the day. The power has run out and it's 😴 time. Have fun. 2w
  •   pinkyingblog Wahoo! Hoping this means I'm in your group! 2w
  •   j.meadows You are a quilter of awesome! You can deftly conquer mail merge!! After you have your coffee, of course 2w
  •   rxquilter Yay! 2w
  •   auntiepami Happy happy! 2w
  •   quiltbystarlight Enjoy that coffee - I feel your pain hopefully I wake up in the morning to find out who my partner is!!! 2w
  •   urbanstylejantine Go get that coffee! We will forgive the typo if you get us some too... 2w

sarcasticquilter Okay #gammill longarmers, I've been quilting with a ruler & on "regulate" mode. 11spi. Starting in a new direction is either non-existent (b/c I am not moving enough to start the regulation) or if I just go, I end up with a jumped stitch. Any advice to prevent the jumped stitch? Thank you in advance. 2w
  •   sewingsharon I use regulated mode but if I need to make a sharp corner, I'll back stitch 1-2 stitches, move forward to my stopped position and then change direction. Might seen awkward at first but quickly becomes 2nd nature when you see the a nice square corner. 2w
  •   sarcasticquilter @sewingsharon I don't think that would work here. I'm stopping at the corner to situate the ruler then starting in a new direction and it's the "start" that is bringing the skipped stitch. Because I'm single stitching up to that point, the needle is also in the up position when I start so maybe that's why. Or maybe it's just more practice 2w
  •   sewingsharon Have you checked for any lint build up behind the bobbin spring plate ? If you pull that out, just be sure the little tab gets tucked in properly or you'll be cussing. 😮. Also my bobbin race sometimes gets thread lint stuck in it. Do you ever oil the race? Might also try a new needle. Or if you have, check its alignment. If it's not quite seated with the eye squarely forward it could do this too. Is this a thread you've used before? My machine is picky about thread weight. 2w
  •   sarcasticquilter @sewingsharon thanks I'll check on build up in bobbin tomorrow. As for the rest, it's a brand new machine so timing/oil, etc are all good. I'm asking my questions because I previously had a different brand. ;-) 2w
  •   sewingsharon Bought mine new also about 5 years ago. Lots of trial and error for me. I've always oiled my machine before every quilt (unless I'm doing a small project/baby quilt). I also oil my bobbin area about every 4th bobbin change. I found a website with lots of good gammill info. Can't remember the name off hand. Will send you a link later. 2w
  •   lizzy_jo_quilts You are not alone, unfortunately this is kind of a Gammill thing. There was a discussion about just this problem a couple month back on a longarm forum I belong to. Let me also add that I don't think I have ever spoken to another Gammill user that doesn't have this problem from time to time. I find it happens more often when I use a heavier thicker thread like 100% cotton or cotton poly blends. I have used @sewingsharon suggestion and it does work well but creates a thick/heavy thread spot in quilting line compared to the rest of the stitching line. 2w
  •   sarcasticquilter Thanks @lizzy_jo_quilts it stinks to know that and also helps to know I'm not the only one. 2w

sarcasticquilter For my wallet b/c I'm headed to @kellyannsquilting for minion fabric. That I have no plans to use but just "need" to buy before I lose my chance. The real questions are, 1) FQs or half yards so I can use some as #sweatnsew prizes, & 2) get a panel or not? Hmm we will see. Maybe l will get extra but send it along in the #minionminiquiltswap who knows? @karie_twokwikquilters need any? 2w
  •   mailfromcheekymonkey Hilarious!!! 2w
  •   karie_twokwikquilters Send me a photo when you get there because I grabbed a couple from the LQS here but I done think she had everything 2w
  •   duhquilts Buy it all I did 2w
  •   luvbaletty I'm sure I'd love some aha, on another note, got a letter from Jensen, he said ask Mrs. Becky and Dad to write I'd love to hear from them.... Shame on you Dad,you know what it's like to want those cards . 2w

sarcasticquilter And just because her photo is better than mine, I'm reposting @ahliajade #broadwayminiquiltswap for me. Isn't her quilting awesome? This morning I'm looking for a proper spot on my wall to hang this beauty. ️ well, and blogging about the swap, of course. 2w
