samabdy FEMINISM/POSTMODERNISM ... "Cyborg "sex" restores some of the lovely replicative baroque of ferns and invertebrates (such nice organic prophylactics against heterosexism)..." Donna Haraway writes A Manifesto for Cyborgs: Science, Technology, and Socialist Feminism in the 1980s 2mon

samabdy Cover art of 80s POSTMODERN texts I found these 2 in a second hand bookstore--- the feminism/postmodernism contains within it's pages 'The Cyborg Manifesto' by Donna Haraway Which is in my opinion essential feminist reading and v difficult to find in hard copy #samstudieshard #bookwhisperer 2mon

samabdy This was the end of an email my lecturer from a philosophy unit I studied sent me in response to my question "where are all the female theorists?" Our email exchanges continued throughout the semester as I continued to press the point. He drowned me in theory. I asked him why female thinkers had to be studied separately in a course specifically on feminism, which keeps them on the margins (not such a bad place to be) and means they remain less accessible. Robert went on to conclude that I did not deserve the HD I received for the unit as clearly I misunderstood his neo-Nietzschean Dionysus Zen hybrid theory (he has written a book on this)
I said "There are no facts, only interpretations."

samabdy "I'd like to be a policewoman, because of the uniform. I'd like to drill through our skulls and sew our brains together. While I still can, I stroll through the meadow, damp from the melted snow. I squeeze my way through the smoking, chattering, frenzied crowd; outside, behind the discotheque, I lean against the wall. I could be anywhere, anybody. I am a physicist. I would like to have no fear." -- Pipilotti Rist, atmosphere and instinct (1998) 2mon
