richfoto I was a wicket keeper for Newport Free Grammar School. Got knocked out once by a massive bouncer, that the batsman clipped. Explains a great deal I think... *dazed & confused* 5h

richfoto Anyone for cricket? I know this is Surrey's ground, but my Grandad actually used to take me to Lords to watch Middlesex play & sneak me the odd under age pint of Guinness, right under the noses of the MCC. Good times! 5h

richfoto My Grandma & Grandad bought this Victorian guest house 'Gairloch' in Clacton during their retirement, as they'd both got a bit bored doing nothing. I used to help serve guests their breakfasts in the summer holidays with my cousins. When the arse dropped out of the English seaside holidays market in the 1980's, they quickly turned the hotel into an old peoples home. An all year trade instead of seasonal. The irony being that on many occasions, they were actually a lot older that the residents! I'm quite sure this is why they had such a long life, by keeping their mind & body active. Grandma ultimately became a resident after my Grandad died. A full life. #Muriel100 #OAP #clacton #architecture 2d

richfoto Had to collect my Grandma's belongings from the OAP home & organise her funeral yesterday. She always loved a biscuit or 27 whilst watching the snooker. #Muriel100 2d

richfoto This used to be Harlow Odeon. It was huge & had one screen. Old school. I remember seeing Rocky IV here one Saturday in 1985 with @jimbus It was like being at an actual boxing match as the adolescent audience went MENTAL when Rocky took out Ivan Drago. I then seem to remember us being chased to the station by a herd of Harlow nutters who wanted to give us a hiding. Great days...*sighs* 5d
  •   jimbus Noooo. Is it shut? That was a good cinema. I remember us being chased but unsure if it was after that film. I so recall everyone standing up and cheering at the end. It was always windy queuing for that cinema. 5d
  •   charli_wilson This makes me so sad! I saw Titanic there 7 times!! (Not sure if I should admit that.....) That is such a horrible part of town now. 4d
  •   richfoto @charli_wilson Hang on...that was you on the back row all 7 times then...? 4d
  •   richfoto @jimbus Ah yes you're right. I think we skirted doing McDonalds. After another evening one, I remember legging it to station past Gilbey's Gin with you. Fat Dan couldn't keep up on one occasion & I thought he was going to get a proper smack. 4d
  •   jimbus Where was gilbeys gin? 4d
  •   richfoto @jimbus On the roundabout before the Sportscentre. 4d
  •   jimbus Yes I remember now. Digging into the recesses of my memory now! 4d

richfoto #tbt I learnt my trade at The Square, photographing bands each weekend for the Harlow Star/Herts & Essex Observer, fuelled completely by Snakebite & Black with Kodak Tri-X chasers. One highlight was getting lost in in a blizzard of dry ice during a gig, ending up on stage with Carter USM, as the photographers pit had become a savage whirlpool mosh pit of indie boots & sweat. They thought it was a laugh & let me stay on stage with them. Not ideal really. #indie #music #HarlowSquare #essex #igersessex #igerscycling #cycling 1w
