repstenyhoyer Tonight, I was honored to welcome our President, and our partner, to the Democratic Issues Conference here in Philadelphia. It is our responsibility and our mission, as the President said during his State of the Union address, to create the future that America deserves by working together to ensure that the gains we’ve made will make the middle class and all who aspire to the middle class more prosperous, more confident, and more secure. We, and the President, believe that this future is one we can and must achieve for the American people. 3h

repstenyhoyer Congratulations to WTOP’s Capitol Hill Correspondent Dave McConnell on celebrating his 50th Anniversary at the station. Dave’s fair and honest reporting has helped to set a standard of how to cover Capitol Hill for five decades, where he is the only full-time Congressional correspondent for a local radio station in the country. #ThrowbackThursday 1w

repstenyhoyer With more than 2.9 million jobs created last year, 2014 was America’s best year of job growth since 1999. Unemployment is also down to 5.6%, which shows the economy is making significant progress recovering from the Great Recession. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the 114th Congress to build on this success and ensure that more people can make it in America. 3w

repstenyhoyer Today, the 114th Congress of the United States convened, providing the House with a new opportunity to address the challenges we face together. The Senators and Representatives who gather in the Capitol today have a responsibility over the next two years to work together in a bipartisan way to get things done for the American people. House Democrats will continue to fight for policies that make the American Dream stronger and more attainable by all. 3w

repstenyhoyer Today I joined veterans, military service members, and Members of Congress to advocate for executive action on immigration reform while continuing to call on the House to pass comprehensive legislation. Fixing our nation’s broken immigration system is both a moral and an economic issue for our country, and it’s past time for my Republican colleagues in the House to allow a vote. 3mon

repstenyhoyer I join in celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth, which began yesterday. Since our nation’s earliest days, Latinos have played an important role in building strong democratic institutions, making our economy the strongest in the world, and fighting under our flag in defense of freedom. Hispanic-Americans have played – and continue to play – a leading role in writing the story of America. http://1.usa.gov/1Dckk4J 5mon

repstenyhoyer Today we remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on 9/11. Throughout the country, survivors, loved ones, first responders, and those wishing to honor the victims and heroes will gather today in an affirmation that those lost will never be forgotten – and that we will always stand together as one nation to defend our homeland from those who would do us harm. We also thank and honor those who courageously ran toward danger on that day to save others’ lives as well as the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and first responders who have served on the front lines against terror since 2001, both overseas and here at home. Over the years to come, we will surely continue to meet any threat and surmount any challenge, and I have no doubt that Americans will continue to draw strength from the heroism we witnessed on September 11, 2001, and forever remember that day not only for its pain but for its example of America’s enduring spirit. http://1.usa.gov/1BuX0xs 5mon

repstenyhoyer I was pleased to be at the White House today as President Obama signed into law the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. This legislation is an example of what Democrats and Republicans can achieve in Congress when we work together to invest in training and securing a twenty-first century workforce – one of the key goals of the Make It In America plan. 6mon
