I have found myself somewhat separated from my family since my 80 year old mothers return from taking a nasty spill and breaking her back. She shouldn't be left alone for any great length of time so I've been spending the night at her home for the past several weeks. Being in a place surrounded by relics of yesteryear, sitting a mere few feet away from my fathers ashes each night can begin to feel like one is being visited each night by the ghost of Christmas past. Sometimes it's almost like camping out in a mausoleum. Caught between two worlds, my home where my wife and children are fully in the present, and the guest bed where I lay my head on the pillow of my past.

My daughter, Molly, use to be very reluctant to pose for me. However, over the past year she has really come into her own. Her confidence level has soared and she's becoming a beautiful young woman. As her father that can be both wonderful and worrisome. Not quite ready for my sweet and (formerly) quiet little girl to start causing young male heads to turn in her direction. She's already experienced her first boyfriend (with extreme limitations set by yours truly) which resulted in her first heartbreak. That was the most heart-wrenching thing to witness. Something she needed to go through, but I would have moved heaven and earth to protect her if I could. She has the most joyous smile and tender heart. I couldn't be more proud of my Molly-dolly! Fly high my beautiful young aviator!

Beard Science.
Here's #5 and the final post from my #Lurker challenge so thoughtfully issued to me by the lovely @kalais2 . This is me with my former pet beard, taken about 6 months ago. Even though it's been hiding away in my camera roll it was posted over on @bnw_city when we were doing our moderator spotlights.
The whole psychology behind why we do or don't post selfies makes for an interesting insight into how we see ourselves (or don't want others to see ourselves) I typically shy away from them unless I'm doing something stupid and want to make someone laugh. I'm always nervous when someone tags me in a photo on Facebook.
What's your take on self portraits?.

#4 of 5 for my #Lurker challenge from @kalais2 . One of those shots I kept editing then re-editing and never quite "felt it". Kevin @lucyrunswild posted a photo he took at this same location, I showed him this one and he was like "So why haven't you posted this one?" And I was like "I dunno!" And he was all "like you totally should brah", and I was like "Shyeah as if" then we hopped on our boards and surfed into the sunset.
Aaaaaaaaaand SCENE!!.

Maddie.
Here's #3 of 5 for my #Lurker challenge from @kalais2 . This has been sitting in my camera roll due to the fact I felt I did a bit of a rush job and didn't get a shot that I felt she deserved. I do like the contrasting patterns of the background and her sweater. What this fails to capture is Maddies fierce sense of fashion and attitude. This is a young lady who knows what she wants, and you best not get in her way!

Number 2 of 5 for my #Lurker challenge issued to me by @kalais2 .
This was a shot I took at my great niece's birthday. Not sure why I never posted this here. Maybe I thought it too "cutesy" for my dark mysterious mystique! (Insert laugh here).

The mind is willing but the body is weak! My brain is swirling with ideas but I'm so stinking busy I don't have any free time to unleash the camera. I think my good friend Pam @Kalas2 sensed this and has challenged me to a 5 shot challenge of photos that are lurking in my camera roll that have been waiting in purgatory. So here's my first #Lurker . I'm fond of this shot from a recent instameet of @_Anchored who's arm got stuck in his camera strap as I was trying to take his picture. Joshua is one of those friendly unassuming people who's gifted with striking Jon Hamm-ish good looks that camera's just love. You should also check out his fantastic gallery! Also check out the #thatnashmeet tag and you might spot some dude with a gray beard lurking about.
