rawveganista #SpicySaturday was a smashing success, thanks to great (over)#abundance of #farmdirect/#NonGMO/#pesticidefree goodness received from @ricksproduce & #BeasleysFarm this past week. This dose of #rawveganfoodporn is a #latergram of yesterday's truly epic #Mexicanstyle multi-layered #rawvegan bowl, smothered in 2 versions of my #homemade #rawhotsauce (one #rawsriracha style, and another PAINFUL tropical blend made from #organic passion fruit & ghost peppers) & coconut "sour cream". Other layers consisted of the following: #Raw & #vegan "refried beans" (aka 'Rawfried Beans' for which the full #rawveganrecipe may be found on the blog at #RawVeganista.com), freshly prepared #guacamole (made from avocados, peppers, & lemons from @ricksproduce commingled with my own #homegrown #veganic herbs), fresh #local grown green elements from Beasley's Farm in #CentralFlorida, and a hidden layer of my very own #livingfood saurkraut, which I managed to avoid having to share with anyone else despite having had guests staying with me for many days this month. ;-) Happy Sunday, everyone! ♡Ⓥ★ 2mon

For those who enjoyed my #rawveganrecipe '#sweetza' (& related post on how to properly prepare/consume #rawoats) on the blog at RawVeganista.com, perhaps you may be interested to know that the cookie crust portion also works quite well when divided up into these little #glutenfree #rawvegan cinnamon/oatmeal/black mission fig bites! Simply follow the recipe as stated on the blog, add chopped/dried black mission figs, roll into bite size spheres, dehydrate for around 1/2 the time stated in recipe (same temperature + you may simply wish to check their progress intermittently as they dry), serve, & enjoy!
This week I have been preparing a very special birthday feast for a prominent scientist, scholar, & humanitarian who has just reached his 80th birthday! My aim is to please his palate whilst helping to heal his heart, so that he may live on to continue his valuable research for many years to come. Tomorrow I hope to share a few images from the #seasonal feast I have been preparing, in honour of #SweetSunday & respect for all life on our magnificently abundant planet. Namasté! ♡Ⓥ★

rawveganista Phase one of my #rawhotsauce project is finally complete, so I made some seriously hearty #raw/#vegan chili as testing medium for the ridiculously HOT results. This is an adaptation of the #rawvegan chili recipe posted on the blog at RawVeganista.com, but with my sunflower seed "meat" pre-soaked/sprouted/dried/somewhat merged w/my other #rawveganrecipe for "taco meat" and added a HUGE medley of #gourmetmushrooms (black trumpet, porcini, white oyster, lobster) for added texture, protein, and flavour absorption. #Nosaltadded to any of this either, since I fermented all of the peppers for my hot sauces for over a week in a brine before smoothing them out and adding finishing flavours. Also don't really fancy too much salt anywhere at the moment since having just finished with my cleanse... Two finished products thus far include a tomato based blend bearing a similar texture/taste to #Sriracha, and another blend featuring fresh #organic passion fruit as the star of the show. Honestly, it's quite rare for me to encounter any hot sauce I cannot handle (and I am usually inclined to eat at least 2 raw habaneros & a plethora of other peppers in any given dish). However, these ones are some of the hottest I have ever tasted and I'm actually reluctant to finish off my supply of peppers since adding even one to this dish (withOUT the seeds) made it powerful enough that I actually considered NOT using any of the sauces to the finished product. I did try them both though, and the flavour profile created proved well worth having had to suffer through the lengthy period of fire breathing to follow.
Holding a private tasting vent later on this week, at which time I will gather feedback and then possibly bottle some of the sauce to share with some of you via the blog (& possibly my soon to be launched on Etsy)... Who knows? Maybe I may even see fit to drag some out to #TampaBayVegFest this coming weekend and see how many fellow #vegan #heatseekers I can find to try it out! ;-) ♡Ⓥ★

My treat for you today is some #FBF #FridayFoodPorn in the form of #raw/#vegan #sweetza I created several weeks ago, after having been inspired by cooked version made by one of my favourite #veganfoodporn-slinging instapals @chispagram! This #sweetpizza was comprised of a raw, living, #glutenfree cinnamon oatmeal cookie crust, spiced raspberry chocolate custard frosting, grated cacao butter & shredded coconut "cheese", then topped with sliced #organic strawberries, local/#farmdirect/#pesticidefree blueberries, candied #homegrown jalapeños, sliced black & white figs from @ricksproduce in #Fallbrook #California. Today is a special day for me, marking the 3 year anniversary of the cycling accident from which led to my knee completely shattering and landing me in a wheelchair for well over a year as I self-healed without surgery, pharmaceuticals, or any allopathic/medial assistance whatsoever. My upcoming two-part blog entry on #RawVeganista.com shares details of my #drugfree, #selfhealing journey using #rawvegan #livingfoods, #PMA, and talks of how I managed to begin my life anew after having lost absolutely everything as a result of the accident. Now moving on to #raw soups & simple solids, I opted to indulge in a bit of #rawvegan #Asianfusion fun w/this rather delicate 'faux pho' consisting of gingered black trumpet mushroom coconut #soyfree #organic miso broth filled with #kelpnoodles, #wildcrafted #blacktrumpet & white oyster #mushrooms, delicious #farmdirect #pesticidefree tomato slices from @ricksproduce, #homegrown basil, scallions, & #veganic love.
With the exception of the chickpea miso, this dish is totally #saltfree but still quite flavourful (& even rather intense for my entirely juice-acclimated palate).
It was a lovely break from #juicing, and there is still some left for tomorrow! ♡Ⓥ★

#Autumn is in the air & colours abound in much beautiful harvest we reap of the season.
Shown here are some of my devilishly hot & spicy adult #Halloween treats in the making: passion fruit/habanero hot sauce, along w/its similarly flavoured mustard counterpart (already packed away in stoneware, waiting to rest until readiness has been achieved). Also shown (as per request) are some utility woodland friends, my nesting owl family measuring cups, along w/the mushroom salt & pepper pots co-featured in my last photo.

The magnets make them even more magical, as now I am certain to NEVER lose them in different parts of the kitchen! ;-) I'm using the green one for fresh ground Celtic sea salt and the red one for cayenne, by the way. Peppercorns are acid forming and studies show quite toxic to the body in several ways, so I stick with what I know works best for my #alkaline lifestyle. =) Did you notice the ladybird (aka 'ladybug') situated on the salt? ;-) Ⓥ★ 3mon

rawveganista #FlashbackFriday to last #Halloween, when I made #raw, #vegan & #fruitarian caramel #apples from mainly simple fruits & posted the #recipe on my blog at RawVeganista.com.
Did you know that #fruit is not technically considered to be a plant, but actually more of a carrier vessel for seeds which will then create more plants/trees when left to germinate? If fruit is not eaten, it will simply decompose (sort of like a corpse) to become compost/fertiliser for soil to receive the seed.
Believe it or not, evidence does exist that actual living, rooted plants and trees do exhibit signs of pain reaction similar to those seen in animals (check out the book "The Secret Life of Plants" or a documentary called "What Plants Talk About" to learn a bit more), so the key to truly #Ahimsa cultivation of them is to exercise mindfulness & #sustainable cultivation. However, fruit is merely pure energy waiting to be released... So eat up in absolute #abundance and enjoy! Ⓥ★ #fruitisthebestfood

rawveganista Even when certified #organic, ALL commercially grown, store bought apples are coated w/gross (often animal-based/non #vegan) waxes. It is for this reason (amongst others, related to #fairtrade & #sustainability) that I generally make a point of avoiding fruit from shops & commercial growers. This box of gorgeous, fragrant, & freshly picked Jonathan #apples came from a small family orchard and they were selected especially for me! They are unwaxed, unprocessed, and previously untouched by anyone other than the nice lady who picked them for me. Upon having opened the box, I was reminded of my childhood, growing up on a small #pesticidefree orchard in NY and enjoying multitudes of incredibly fragrant, delicious, #unprocessed #seasonal beauties for so long as the trees felt inclined to produce. Apples don't seem to grow anywhere near where I am presently located, so I had been feeling a bit down about missing out on this season's best apples whilst fresh & vibrant. Receiving this box today has filled me with such incredible joy, and I am so incredibly #grateful that words simply cannot do justice to express. I wish I could share the amazing scent and bounty with all of you, and hope that everyone will make a point of partaking in some fresh applelicious goodness this year. #supportsmallfarmers 3mon

rawveganista Shabbat shalom, beautiful friends!
Much time has passed, as I've been away a great deal over the past several weeks, avoiding electronic devices (for various reasons--including #health of #bodymindspirit), and also rather engaged in non-culinary activities. However, I just happened to notice a #stopanddropselfie tag from the kind, lovely, and ever-so-creative @rawmisssoulamomma and (although I do -not- normally post pics of myself to this account) felt this an ideal opportunity to check in to say hello!
At the moment I am in the midst of a deeply cleansing detox regimen, mainly consisting of water (with a few herbal infusions and occasional citrus "essences" tossed in for good measure). Today I am blessed to be situated on the stunning #NatureCoast of sunny #Florida, absorbing a fine dose of vitamin D in the most #natural, #healthy, & #organic way possible. ☼
I have also been working on a rather special project soon to be launched...

rawveganista August is my favourite month, so this #SimpleSunday has been all about #gratitude & reflective introspection. Summer has kept me quite busy, working on various projects, creating & developing new ideas in beautiful kitchens which have been such a privilege for me to work! So much to share with all of you, soon to come on the blog at RawVeganista.com will be amazing announcements and loads of new discoveries... Will begin by simply posting this image to say THANK YOU for so much positivity and ongoing inspiration since I first launched this account. Although I may not be online so often, I am truly grateful for all of your kindness and feel that connecting with so many of you has been enormously instrumental throughout my ongoing process of #healing & readjusting to life.
I would also like to offer special mention to @ricksproduce, my wonderful friend & favourite farmer who literally saved my life by providing me with #FoodAsMedicine for the past 3 years. His mad #organic growing skills have enabled me to re-establish my physical strength AND #veganic #gardening abilities, whilst also allowing me to share colourful #rawveganfoodporn like this über simple #fruishi I created using only fresh fruit & herbs.
Thanks also to my NY neighbours at @organicsuperfood for replenishing my stock of young Thai coconut at a fabulous Summer discount (without which the wrapper for this #fruitsushi would not have been possible), & the #nutsforcoconuts ladies (@wholesomedaily, @whole_food_nutrition, @gmofreegirl, & @templetreetea) for keepjng me on my toes with their ongoing #nutsforcoconutschallenge.

rawveganista How is it Friday already?! Heading off to a clients' place for a weekend of #glutenfree #rawveganpizza & other fun #organic #rawvegan creations in their gorgeous sunny kitchen.

This dose of #Fridayfoodporn is actually my dinner from last night, which was a bit of a pre-event warm-up/test formulation--I often make extras of things prepared in my own kitchen, just to get a feel for what to expect from each new batch of ingredients. It does matter, as food prep chemistry is often variable!
The "cheese" is simply thinly sliced slabs of young Thai coconut, marinated in freshly squeezed lemon juice & a pinch of salt. I'm #nutsforcoconut because of it's amazingly delicious versatility, which makes sharing in the #nutsforcoconutschallenge a pleasure of which I never seem to grow tired.

rawveganista #TBT to a few days ago, when I devoured this #RawVegan #MexiCali #TacoTuesday feast & then spaced out before finding a chance to post the pic. ;-) The gorgeous avocados you see in the background are the über delicious Reed variety (my Summer favourite, in season for a VERY SHORT TIME), and the "lemons" are not actually lemons at all! My friend @ricksproduce totally faked me out by sending these along with my avo shipment without so much as a word to indicate that something new and exciting was headed my way... Sweet limes!
Did anyone else NOT know of their existence? They're so weird! Not like a lemon or a lime, but only mildly citrus-esque and rather sweet with a hint of... I have no idea how to explain them! I juiced a couple to use in salad with #Mexican squash (another exciting new treat from my friend Rick's farm), avocado, chilis, and cilantro (pictured in the small bowl at left)...it was divine, and like nothing I had ever tasted. Sort of reminded me of the first time I ever tried cilantro or epazote: very different from anything familiar to me, but something I quickly found highly enjoyable to work with. =) This tostada was rolled into a burrito shortly after the photo was taken, just after receiving a healthy insertion of avocado, #homemade sauerkraut, & #spicy #raw #vegan "nacho cheese" (for which the recipe is now LIVE on the blog at www.RawVeganista.com as of this afternoon).
