My preferred method for eating is #seasonal, #organic, & #noncommercial freshness, & Rick always hooks me up with all kinds of great stuff that totally fits the bill. Eating seasonally helps me keep track of time (in a way), and finding a bunch of beautiful pomegranates enclosed was a friendly, gentle reminder that we have officially reached the final days of #Summer.
Also in this #harvest we have #passionfruit, lemons, all kinds of sweet & #hotpeppers, Lamb Hass avocados, and my über favourite WHITE fleshed #dragonfruit!!! When I discovered these were white inside my eyes were and my excitement level for the fruit drink I was preparing to blend levelled up to 11,000!

As far as #Summertime's end is concerned, the onset of harvest season means the arrival of fresh #Autumn produce to use & share with fellow #vegans and #rawfood devotees in search of interesting ways to chase away the #backtoschool doldrums, ne?

This #spicy & #raw #vegansevenlayerdip features #legumefree "rawfried beans", guacamole, living #picantesauce, #dairyfree macadamia/coconut sour cream, #meatfree #rawchorizo (based on my #rawrecipes for "taco meat" with a few added elements), and creamy raw, #nutfree, & 100% #vegan "nacho cheese" sauce.

rawveganista As it's #FoodpornFriday, how about some #raw, #vegan, #glutenfree & #bananafree cinnamon rolls?
@RockinRaw's amazing "cinnabuns" inspired this experiment, & since I'm now worlds away from #homesweethome in #NYC it seemed rather imperative for me to come up with a way to satisfy this mad craving with my own #homemade version.

I have seen various interpretations floating around from other #rawfood folks online, but my needs were very specific... something truly pastryesque, gooey, sweet, #grainfree, über decadent, and most importantly: containing absolutely #nobananas!
Yes, you read correctly. Bananas do not like me, & likewise I do not care for them either. Thus, none shall ever be found within any #rawveganrecipes posted on the blog at #RawVeganista.com.

However, I digress!

Long story short, these cinnamon rolls were an amazing success! Since this was my first time creating them, I should likely experiment a bit more with the formula & share the results with my "tasting crew" before committing my method to print. For now, I hope you guys will be content in enjoying these #rawveganfoodporn results! ♡Ⓥ★

The fabulous @randomveganyogi sent me this adorable bowl (w/cute spoon & dipping plate to match) as a #veganniversary gift which arrived yesterday, & I simply had to fill it with some #wholesome #rawvegan goodness worthy of their cuteness!

Blueberries were actually first occupants of the bowl, but I far too ravenous after yesterday's #fastday to gear up the camera for #fruitporn. Sorry #fruitlovers! To make up for my breakfast time impatience, I thought I might share a pic of this lovely little #veganic salad made up of 98% #localgrown #farmdirect produce topped with some killer avocado & fresh lemon juice from @ricksproduce is #Fallbrook. Not really my usual style of #veganfoodporn/#rawveganfoodporn, but
sometimes simplicity is really the most fulfilling & sustainable answer--with a healthy dose of #gratitude, #love, & #friendship of course.

Thanks to @ricksproduce I am always revelling in an #abundance of fresh #farmdirect #avocados, so here I've stuffed one with some of the aforementioned #fishfree "tuna salad" element, #livefermented sauerkraut made made from incredibly awesome local/#organic cabbage, & absolutely smothered it in some of the #refinedsugarfree, #veganic, #GMOfree, & #fullyraw #SriRAWcha sauce I am presently in the process of doing a #giveaway.
Since I'm all about #plantbasedasian whenever possible, I also opted to make more ridiculously colossal #raw/vegan maki stuffed with veggies, #homemade kimchi, #vegantuna salad, #Macadamiana #dairyfree #gourmetraw "cream cheese", more avocado (of course), scallion, & super fresh #localgrown cucumber.

In lieu of wasabi, I went the hot sauce route & added more little dollops of the same raw #sriracha--just to create an even balance between flavours on the plate. ;-) Actually, I did it because I just can't stop eating the sauce, which is why I seem to be making more and more of it as peppers become available (& batch #fermentation completes). Presently in the process of bottling up another batch, which will be sent out ASAP to lucky winners of the #rawveganista25thveganniversary comp announced in my previous posts. Soon the newest batch will be sealed up & ready to roll out to their happy new homes! ^_^
I still have a few left to give, so please keep a new open for further announcements if you're interested in trying this #RAWhotsauce before it's made available for sale. ♡Ⓥ★

I use dulse to give it a bit of "seaside" flavour, but it's still more of a hint than something pungent enough to set cats off into a begging frenzy... Then again, perhaps that may be for the best? ;-) Anyway, it's fairly simple and made from sunflower seeds, fresh celery (delicious & bright from my local farmer), aforementioned dulse... I may actually have used less than 8 ingredients this time! Improvs in my kitchen always vary a bit, but mine is quite similar to the very simple formula found in Matt Amsden's @Rawvolution recipe book. Your own guidelines are such an inspiring point of reference, so I'll surely make a point to notate what goes into the next batch! =) ♡Ⓥ★ 4mon

rawveganista Just a week away from my 25th #veganniversary, & I'm gearing up for a #CincoDeMayo #giveaway! It's also my birthday on that day (& Katie's too?), but I feel less inclined to celebrate my arrival on Earth than the approaching milestone of being #25yearsvegan. To celebrate, I've decided to share some of my favourite things with some of you! =)

Since having given away my entire supply of "regular" (neither #raw nor #organic) #sriracha sauce when I decided to shift to a #fullyraw lifestyle in 2006, development of a #livefermented version has been a bit of an obsession for me. I recently cracked the code and have been making small batches of his #rawvegan version to enjoy on absolutely everything, & finally my supply is great enough to share (within reason). Tonight I switched up #TacoTuesday with #SushiSaturday and made some incredibly scrumptious #rawvegan maki with shredded gingered carrots & beetroot, cucumber, avocado, scallions, #homemade kimchi, my signature stash of #Macadamiana "cream cheese", garnished with cilantro and my beloved #SriRAWcha.

My #vegan contribution is also completely #raw (as per usual), consisting of Thai curry "protein bites" (think satay) accompanied by #homemade #rawvegan sunbutter satay & sweet chili sauces. I'm not so impressed with this photo, but the flavours were en pointe and the seemingly small dish incredibly satisfying.
Paired with a lovely little #organic ginger green tea & fresh lime juice blend, all dressed up for an early #EarthDay celebration with my little @glassdharma sipper to make his light supper feel a bit festive. =) Waaaaay past bedtime now, with early morning lectures creeping up very quickly on the horizon. There were actually TWO recipes posted (different times/separate entries) for Mexican-style "ground meat", one of which is entirely free of tree nuts and another containing nuts. The delicious looking #vegan pudding posted by my ever-so kind & compassionate friend @funkinutt reminded me so much of an unmoulded version of my own project from last night... Of course I felt compelled to share.
Isn't #synchronicity delightful? =D
This #rawvegan treat was made with black sapote ("chocolate pudding fruit"), young Thai coconut flesh, blood oranges, a bit of carob, some dates, & a few cacao nibs with which I was recently presented as a gift. The crust layer is largely sesame based, spiced with vanilla bean, cardamom, cinnamon, & #homemade orange powder.
Yet another one-off experiment, but can't wait to try making it again. Thank you, dear @funkinutt, for having #motivated me to find time and energy to pull this wee morsel of #rawveganfoodporn from my #NikonD3200 & to transfer/share with you and other #vegansofig. Sometimes it takes awhile to pull & sync, so every bit of #inspiration truly helps! ♡Ⓥ★

How many of you are familiar with this particular type of #sapote?
I was fortunate to have received a few pounds from a small #organic family orchard not too long ago, & have been playing around with them a bit--though mostly being a #lazyrawvegan & chowinf on them as-is. I also have some seeds to experiment with, which is great since I've been working on growing a portion of of the #veganic @LORAXcommunity orchard and garden! So far I have several different varieties of avocado, white sapote, date palms happening in my wee nursery... Anyone else into growing trees from seed?

It totally looks like fruity chocolate, which I suppose is why it's dubbed "chocolate pudding fruit"! The texture appears rather cakey when first pulled open (I like to use my fingers, but cutting it with a knife makes it look different once open), but it's actually quite a smooth and creamy texture to the tongue. Thing is, it really wasn't as sweet as I had expected! Mixing it with some dates was a simple remedy, and I also tried eating it with one of the few persimmons I had been hoarding to last through Spring/Summer (all gone now!)--which was pretty good too. They also don't really taste like chocolate, but are nice when combined with something chocolate esque like carob, cacao/nibs, etc. I've been quite lazy lately when it comes to fruit (hence my lack of desire to login/post over the past several weeks), usually just eating it plain with my fingers like most other primates. ;-) I go into various phases where I become über busy with other projects and the idea of fruit as "the original fast food" becomes my daily mantra. I still have yet to try mamey sapote, as the place I knew to get them now refuses to stock them because of cost. =/ Know anyone growing them who might be willing to ship a few? I'm always down with organically grown fruit from Cali. =) Ant mentioned "green sapote", which makes me curious... are we talking white sapote (green skin, white flesh, tastes a bit like a pear)? I recently tried some sapodilla (aka "Chico Sapote") from the same grower as this black sapote. Those were described to me as tasting like "a pear dipped in brown sugar, scented with jasmine"... Intriguing! I really liked those too, but can't really see myself using them in any fashion other than sitting down at the table to devour them as monomeal "fast food" fruit. They are GOOD, but the subtle nuances in flavour are incredibly delicate. Maybe I'll post about those when I have them again.. and maybe I'll grow a tree! ^_^ ♡Ⓥ★ #FruitLove 6mon

I was once seriously addicted to the stuff made by Hawthorne Valley in NY (& also Fabulous Ferments, when I could get it from Ohio), but began making my own once I realised how much I less it cost than buying everyone else's! #StPatricksDay is just round the bend, so I'm doing #raw/#vegan/#glutenfree Reuben PIZZA pie in honour of both occasions.

This #rawvegan, #grainfree, & #nutfree #veganic pie is comprised of the following elements: "Rye bread" crust, topped w/creamy #eggfree/#dairyfree Thousand Island dressing, "corned" #beetroot, and #homemade #livingfood sauerkraut!
The crust I have dehydrating at the moment is #GREENfood, for which the #recipe will soon go live on the blog at #RawVeganista.com.

Yes, recipes for each additional element will also be shared on the blog (some of which may be found already--at least parts/elements thereof)--shared in several successive posts. A vast multitude of tech issues have made any online activity (including blogging) into a bit of a challenge, so elements must be spaced out a bit (going live in segments between today and Monday). Most time-intensive bits will show first, to make life easier for those of you who choose to work in time with the approaching holiday. #livefermentation takes time, so the kraut will go up first, followed by crust, etc. etc.

rawveganista #SpicySaturday was a smashing success, thanks to great (over)#abundance of #farmdirect/#NonGMO/#pesticidefree goodness received from @ricksproduce & #BeasleysFarm this past week. This dose of #rawveganfoodporn is a #latergram of yesterday's truly epic #Mexicanstyle multi-layered #rawvegan bowl, smothered in 2 versions of my #homemade #rawhotsauce (one #rawsriracha style, and another PAINFUL tropical blend made from #organic passion fruit & ghost peppers) & coconut "sour cream". Other layers consisted of the following: #Raw & #vegan "refried beans" (aka 'Rawfried Beans' for which the full #rawveganrecipe may be found on the blog at #RawVeganista.com), freshly prepared #guacamole (made from avocados, peppers, & lemons from @ricksproduce commingled with my own #homegrown #veganic herbs), fresh #local grown green elements from Beasley's Farm in #CentralFlorida, and a hidden layer of my very own #livingfood saurkraut, which I managed to avoid having to share with anyone else despite having had guests staying with me for many days this month. ;-) Happy Sunday, everyone! ♡Ⓥ★ 9mon

As mentioned in my previous post, my goal in preparing such #rawvegan treats for those in transition to #healthy & #Ahimsa lifestyles is to please the palate whilst helping to reverse the effects of chronic illness by using #seasonal, #farmdirect, #nonGMO, #organic/#veganic/#pesticidefree #foodasmedicine. It is absolutely possible for us to heal our #bodymindspirit with nourishing, whole, #plantbased cuisine which can also satisfy our most decadent cravings! #Rawfood does NOT have to be boring, icky, or lack aesthetic appeal, and even the most #alkalinediet can serve quite well as true #comfortfood.
Many thanks to my lovely instapal @berrygoodvegan for having inspired me to move forward with this brand new variation on my #rawveganrecipe for "carrot cake donuts" (found in the May 2014 post on the blog at #RawVeganista.com), as her enquiry provided me with the PERFECT solution to satisfying cravings of even the most reluctant convert to a 100% #glutenfree, #dairyfree, & #crueltyfree way of life. ♡Ⓥ★

rawveganista Is there still time for a #raw/#vegan #SweetSaturday post? For those who enjoyed my #rawveganrecipe '#sweetza' (& related post on how to properly prepare/consume #rawoats) on the blog at RawVeganista.com, perhaps you may be interested to know that the cookie crust portion also works quite well when divided up into these little #glutenfree #rawvegan cinnamon/oatmeal/black mission fig bites! Simply follow the recipe as stated on the blog, add chopped/dried black mission figs, roll into bite size spheres, dehydrate for around 1/2 the time stated in recipe (same temperature + you may simply wish to check their progress intermittently as they dry), serve, & enjoy!
This week I have been preparing a very special birthday feast for a prominent scientist, scholar, & humanitarian who has just reached his 80th birthday! My aim is to please his palate whilst helping to heal his heart, so that he may live on to continue his valuable research for many years to come. Tomorrow I hope to share a few images from the #seasonal feast I have been preparing, in honour of #SweetSunday & respect for all life on our magnificently abundant planet. Namasté! ♡Ⓥ★
