rakstar13 Been feeling kind of crummy as if late, so kick starting a mini-whole 30 this week to see if I can get back some energy and feel less bloated/swollen. I call this "lunch on the fly" - shredded chicken, avocado, arugula, capers, pimento, and a little salt & pepper. It'll do...it'll do... 1d

rakstar13 Well hello, Monday. We meet again. Even if the garage sale signs left out made me think it was Thursday. Time for another #MondayIntroductions with the @blessedisshe__ #BISsisterhood. For those of you stopping by for the first time, I'm Rakhi, a Catholic convert, wifey to Tim and mama to Gia and Judah currently in the metro Detroit area. I am an aspiring creative (writer/speaker/artist) and work part-time out of the home at a maternity home. The QOTW? How do I like to relax. My favorite way to relax is to do something creative - sketch, paint, craft, sing (mostly in the shower). Also, if it's after lights out, it's all about Netflix. I'm currently finishing up Scrubs. Any recommendations for something light and easy to watch next? 2d

rakstar13 We offered our Rosary tonight as we walked back from the neighborhood ice cream joint. Reminded me of riding down the street on our bikes to get ice cream from Ev's when I was a kid. Well, minus the rosary - you know...late convert and all... 3d

rakstar13 Ice cream run after dinner tonight! The chocolate froyo gave this little dude a brain freeze. He was not a fan of the freeze, but ate his froyo and my sorbet with gusto. These kids are vultures. #summernights #summerfun 3d

rakstar13 Picked up some #flowers for my mom on the way to her house after Mass. My dad has been gone almost 20 years now, but this would have been my parents' 55th wedding anniversary. They had an arranged marriage back in the day, and always thought we did it wrong. They said they got married and learned to love each other, and we fall in love and get married forgetting that we still have to continue to learn to love each other. #marriage #anniversary #love #lovebetter #BISsisterhood 3d

rakstar13 Finally {sitting} after updating both of our entry doors. I love how inviting the house looks with the pop of color on the door. As I was painting this afternoon, tired and a little sore from the scraping and scrubbing, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the blessing of this house and the many years I have been here. I remember the day I got the keys and my dear friends who brought over some bubbly so we could share a toast and bless this house in prayer as we sat on the floor of the living room. I remembered the many iterations of living room furniture, the ripping up of the carpet to reveal the wood floors, the friends who helped me add my own touches and those who kept me company in my single years. I remembered how the Hubs almost got lost on his way here to pick me up for our first date, and the growing pains of learning to share our lives and our space when we were newly married. I thought about bringing home Gia through that very door, not knowing what the heck to do but love her. What was once a quiet place of solitude has turned into a bustling highway of noise and activity. When I stepped back to take this photo, I couldn't help but think about not just how beautiful the house looks now, but what a beautiful home it has become. Now to make room on the inside for people to come by. #projectblessed #BISsisterhood @blessedisshe__ 5d

rakstar13 As I was {looking down} on our front porch, I realized our doormat was both a greeting and a challenge. Is our home really welcoming? As we welcome one another, we welcome Him. Are we brave enough to look past the raised eyebrows and open our homes to love one another even in the middle of our messes? More thoughts on welcoming on the blog today. #BISsisterhood #projectblessed @blessedisshe__ 6d
