queenslibrary Our pick for #BookTuesday, July 28 is "What Pet Should I Get?" by #DrSeuss.

What happens when a brother and sister visit a pet store to pick a pet? Naturally, they can't choose just one! "What Pet Should I Get?" captures a classic childhood moment and uses it to illuminate a life lesson: that it is hard to make up your mind, but sometimes you just have to do it!

Told in his signature rhyming style, this is a must-read for Dr. Seuss fans, with an Editor's Note at the end discussing his pets, his creative process, and the discovery of the manuscript and illustrations for this never-ever-before-seen book.

queenslibrary Our pick for #BookTuesday, July 21 is #Armada by #ErnestCline.

It's just another day of high school for Zack Lightman. He's daydreaming through another boring math class, with just one more month to go until graduation and freedom. Then he glances out his classroom window and spots the flying saucer.

At first, Zack thinks he's going crazy. Because the UFO he's staring at is straight out of the videogame he plays every night, a hugely popular online flight simulator called Armada—in which gamers just happen to be protecting the earth from alien invaders. But what Zack's seeing is all too real.

The new novel from the bestselling author of #ReadyPlayerOne is a rollicking, surprising thriller, a classic coming-of-age adventure and an alien-invasion tale like nothing you've ever read before—one whose every page is infused with Ernest Cline's trademark pop-culture savvy.

queenslibrary Our #BookTuesday pick for July 14 is (of course) #GoSetAWatchman by #HarperLee!
To put it simply, this is an historic literary event—the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, bestselling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic "To Kill a Mockingbird." "Go Set a Watchman" features many of the characters from "To Kill a Mockingbird," some twenty years later. Returning home to Maycomb to visit her father, Jean Louise "Scout" Finch struggles with issues both personal and political, involving Atticus, society and the small Alabama town that shaped her.
Exploring how the characters from "To Kill a Mockingbird" are adjusting to the turbulent events transforming mid-1950s America, "Go Set a Watchman" casts a fascinating new light on Harper Lee's enduring classic. Moving, funny and compelling, it stands as a magnificent novel in its own right.

queenslibrary Our pick for #BookTuesday, June 9 is #TheWrightBrothers by #DavidMcCullough.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and master historian David McCullough tells the dramatic story-behind-the-story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly. In this thrilling book, he draws on the immense riches of the Wright Papers, including private diaries, notebooks, scrapbooks and more than a thousand letters, to tell the human side of the Wright Brothers' story, including the little-known contributions of their sister Katharine, without whom things might well have gone differently for them.

queenslibrary Our pick for #BookTuesday, June 2 is #FindersKeepers by @StephenKing. "Finders Keepers" is the second book of the #MrMercedes trilogy. A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far, "Finders Keepers" is spectacular, heart-pounding suspense, but it is also King writing about how literature shapes a life — for good, for bad, forever.

queenslibrary Our pick for #BookTuesday, May 19 is "God Help the Child" by #ToniMorrison. “What you do to children matters. And they might never forget.” Spare and unsparing, "God Help the Child" — the first novel by Toni Morrison to be set in our current moment — weaves a tale about the way the sufferings of childhood can shape, and misshape, the life of the adult. This fierce, provocative book adds a new dimension to the work of the Nobel Prize-winning author.
