ppsne Happy Tuesday! Like other methods of birth control, #NuvaRing releases hormones. Hormones are chemicals made in our bodies. They control how different parts of our bodies work.
The hormones in NuvaRing are the same hormones as in the birth control pill — estrogen and progestin.
The hormones in the ring work by 1) Keeping eggs from leaving the ovaries. Pregnancy cannot happen if there is no egg to join with the sperm. 2) Making cervical mucus thicker. This keeps sperm from getting to the eggs.
Less than 1 out of 100 women will get pregnant each year if they always use NuvaRing as directed. About 9 out of 100 women will get pregnant each year if they don’t always use NuvaRing as directed.
Keep in mind the ring doesn’t protect against sexually transmitted infections. Use a latex or female condom to reduce the risk of infection. #askthesexpert #ppsneSTARS #birthcontrol #ntppm #nationalteenpregnancypreventionmonth

ppsne It's National Women's Health Week! Well-woman exams are an important part of staying #healthy. They help providers identify health risks and include preventive screenings for breast and cervical cancers. These are crucial because early detection and treatment of these diseases save lives. Well-woman exams also provide the opportunity to make sure you are using the birth control method that’s best for your needs.

Many women can receive these services without paying a deductible or copay. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-230-PLAN(7526). #Nwhw #womenshealth #women #health

ppsne Most sexually active teens use some method of birth control. Using condoms every time you have sex plus another birth control method – like the IUD, implant, shot, or pill — will help you prevent pregnancy and lower your chances of getting an STD. At Planned Parenthood, we can help you decide on a birth control method that is right for you. Give us a call to schedule an appointment: 1-800-230-PLAN(7526). #TPPM #highschool #prom #TeenPregnancyPreventionMonth #may #askthesexpert 3w

Today is Equal Pay Day. Women still face a pay gap, especially women of color, and it’s time to close it. 1mon
  •   artbyericanorwood The pay gap has explanations other than discrimination and sexism. It's because women in general lean toward secretarial work, teaching, etc. While men are more equipped for hard labor jobs, which tend to pay more. Women fall into these jovs for many reasons. One being that after taking years off to raise children, secretary work is easy to jump into, & the hours tend to be family raising friendly. Also, women lean more often than not towards socially oriented jobs. If a woman & a man have been working the same position for the same number of years at the same skill level with equal time taken off then of course they should be paid the same, your statistic comes from the average of women's pay. 1mon
