powercakes Tonight I was talking with a friend while she was over for dinner about how whenever I was in the deep time of my eating disorder, lowest weight & lowest body fat of my adult life, I would look in the mirror and STILL see things I needed to change. I remember pinching skin and had myself believing it was body fat I needed to lose. Unfortunately when you're in that mindset - your thoughts take over. If there is one thing I want to tell others who may be struggling it's that you can get through it and you can eventually beat that mindset. Know that as long as you stay true to yourself you can eventually start to find a place a #bodypeace. YOU have to challenge yourself to change that mindset. I plan to make these into a larger batch but tonight I wasn't sharing Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies for one! 3 TB Almond Flour
2 TB Coconut Flour 1 Egg 1/4 Cup @so_delicious coconut milk
splash of vanilla extract stevia to taste
Handful of chocolate chips sprinkles on top, because
Mix everything together, spoon 4 small cookies into parchment paper on a cookie sheet, & bake at 350 for about 12 minutes. Let sit to cool & enjoy!

powercakes This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week & it’s a time that truly hits home with me. – I personally have struggled with Eating Disorders twice in my life before truly embracing the road of Discovery through BODYpeace. (This full post is on the blog today link above). Too often we feel “out of control” about something in our lives and we reach to something we can control. In my case, it was food & fitness. Now, I’ve been able to take these two controlled variables in my life and learn to love them for what they do. Food fuels my body to do what I love to do everyday & just to function. While fitness helps keep me strong & feel vibrant. Fitness is my happy place & my stress relief – no longer a way to “burn more calories” to look a certain way.
On the left was my first battle through an eating disorder that rooted from anxiety. I felt out of control with things around me so I controlled my food and lost 16 pounds between 5th & 6th grade. In the middle, a friendly bodybuilding competition turned into an obsession with looking a certain way and manipulating calories & doing 2 or sometimes 3-a-days all to burn more calories and be lean. I lost my menstrual cycle, my hair thinning, nails thinning, & almost passing out in class finally was a wake up call to truly learn how to fuel my body properly and stop hurting myself. I needed to start finding ME and stop looking on my outward appearance to fill voids on the inside. On the right During our BODYpeace photo shoot, Heather & I both wanted to take some shots where we felt vulnerable. For me, it was shorts & a sports bra. For some, this may not be a big deal but for me, it was huge.
Taking off my top layers felt like shedding years of bodyshame. I was shedding those moments where I would cry at night because I ate a handful of raisins and felt “less than” because of it. This day of taking a picture in shorts & a sport bra was SO liberating. I was surrounded by girlfriends who supported me, embraced me, & made me feel so comfortable. I laughed and smiled & felt SO free. This was a truly #BODYpeace moment. I'm grateful for my past as its prepared me for my future. #NEDawareness #betruetoyou

powercakes Fueling up before a day of tennis camp with the kiddos French Toast made with organic seeded @Eurekabread (found it at @target). I mixed pumpkin puree, @So_delicious coconut milk, liquid egg whites, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, & liquid stevia then dipped the toast in & let it soak up the batter put into coconut oil greased pan on the stove on medium heat until both sidees were crispayyy.
