  •   eyesew2 This made me laugh out loud (more like a cackle) made my morning...thanks :) 17h
  •   barbmort These things creep me out. I hate the smell of gum! 15h
  •   poppyprint @chickenjulie @cauchycomplete everyone here refers to the art gallery simply as "the VAG" which rhymes with bag, not badge! 15h
  •   chickenjulie Bag. Sure. That *exactly* how I'd pronounce it. 15h
  •   arquilters When I click on #vag IG says no pictures found, I think IG doesn't like that hashtag. 8h
  •   rstogether I'm just not into the gum thing. Though I must admit, from a distance it looks okay. #abc 8h
  •   poppyprint @arquilters yes, I realize that now. I used it in all innocence without it ever crossing my mind what it would look like to people who don't live here! 7h
  •   poppyprint @rstogether it's really gross! Honey bees were feasting on the nose! For real! 7h

  •   zoebird2005 Lovely. Every times I see those ships out there I think of that song - and a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbour. ......... Roger Whittaker 21h

poppyprint My husband isn't sure I'll be able to get through this. I'm going to give it a shot and let you know. Apparently the main character truly is the #worstpersonever . 5d
  •   bettycrockerass @rstogether it seems like you either lived the ending or hated it. I loved it. Which is unusual for me since it was kind of up in the air 5d
  •   lusummers @rstogether @kirsty_bonjour I hated gone girl because they were so horrible. I made it to the end but it made me uncomfortable. Also I remember it being a bit far fetched which didn't help! 5d
  •   2ndavestudio It's Douglas Coupland, read it. 5d
  •   kirsty_bonjour I read them both to the end as there were various characters I was hoping would get their comeuppance! Regardless I thought they were both well written, even if I didn't enjoy the stories.Won't be watching the Gone Girl movie tho; couldn't sit through it again. @rstogether @flossieteacakes @lusummers 5d
  •   blueisbleu I LOVE COUPLAND 5d
  •   flossieteacakes @kirsty_bonjour I felt like that about Zoe Heller's Notes on a Scandal - I enjoyed the writing enough to finish it, but really disliked how the characters were drawn. 5d
  •   kristieocd Interested to hear your thoughts...love the title! 5d
  •   sindyzelezen Yes, this guy was the worst person ever. I didn't like it as much as some of his others. JPod is still my fav 5d

poppyprint #omg303 #konasolids it's the bane of my existence and chokes everything in my garden, but the colour is spot on! 5d
  •   shevvylondon The knowledge that it was a name set the whole FQR off during the quiz at the weekend. Even the Jacks were sniggering. 5d
  •   kirsty_bonjour Thank goodness I'm not the only one @heartofcharnwood @shevvylondon . I was beginning to think I was a dirty, dirty girl. I can revise my status to dirty singular now. 5d
  •   shevvylondon @kirsty_bonjour nope, not just you. I just can't believe they used the name without considering it. Maybe there is a dirty boy or girl in the naming department as well 5d
  •   kirsty_bonjour Oh, I hope so @shevvylondon 5d
  •   poppyprint @kirsty_bonjour @shevvylondon @heartofcharnwood it's a completely unknown reference in North America! Everything's bloody dirty to you Brits (and Brit-types). 5d
  •   heartofcharnwood But do you know what it refers to @poppyprint.... 5d
  •   beezersnana @heartofcharnwood @kirsty_bonjour I was clueless as to the cause for laughter but believe I have clued in..... Here in BC morning glory (the plant) aka bindweed it is a pest of enormous proportions. Not a native plant, a gift from the brits, it is the bane of every gardner on the west coast. They used to sell seed packets in the stores! it takes a dedicated gardner years to get rid of it. 5d
  •   heartofcharnwood @beezersnana I've got a crap load of bindweed in my garden, total pita. This reference is not about garden weeds, if you Google what does morning glory mean it will become obvious, just DONT go to images!!!! 5d

poppyprint Summer is when I read the most. This is my third finish in 8 days. I really enjoyed the story of Harold and all of the feelings it provoked: regret, joy, love, fear, hope, faith, independence, trust and deceit, to name some of many. 6d
  •   iamkateyz I emjoyed this book so much. Have you read Perfect? Written by the same author. It was quite different, but still with the wide range of emotions. And definitely the sadness, which seems to be a theme with the author. 6d
  •   sewbeait I read this book lady year and really enjoyed his journey ... 6d
  •   tillwequiltagain This was a great book! 6d
  •   isisjem It was a bookgroup choice last year. A goodie 6d
  •   poppyprint @iamkateyz no, I'll look for it. @blueberryathome And The Mountains Echoed & Maya's Notebook 6d
  •   blueberryathome I loved the And the Mountains echoed...don't know Maya's notebook...will look it up thanks x 6d
  •   poppyprint @blueberryathome it wasn't my fav of his books to be honest - I loved the other two so much, even though Thousand Splendid Suns was just about the saddest story I've ever read. Maya's Notebook (Isabel Allende) was a good read for me because I have been to all the places in the story. Plus I love Allende's writing. 6d
  •   beezersnana I enjoyed this book as well. Feelings and what people do with them, image and expectations. Great read. 5d
