pomegranatesea I don't know why I've been so stagnate with my art for so long. I think all the depression, anger and stress high school gave me and the sadness from losing my uncle, great gram, and grandpa all too soon and close together was a lot to handle. And my sun went down and I was in some darkness for some time. My dad still hasn't put together my jewelry studio but my gram and I decided to make her upstairs into a painting studio. I realized that being connected with my art is what I need, in order to properly function. My true happiness. To get to my point ... i started a painting this week, it felt so good to let out the itch. And be up there in my own bubble and throw up my emotions. This week has been a shot to my heart with it. My father cried in joy, to see me engaged with my art again. Life is a dance. Imagines coming to life, painted in hues from my state of mind. It’s a harlequin song that rises overhead like an ocean wave, suspending between moment and movement. A vivid rush, a magical arrangement to sway away in and to. In motion and at peace that the same time, a melody flows threw my soul and brush keeping time with the waves, the ebb and flow of the tide building into a quick crescendo and a fast drop that reverberates across the water. The mermaid; adorned in a costume of salt and sand. My life is lived fast and remembered in slow motion. I am unrehearsed, but there is beauty in the imperfection. I have a deep fondness for the sea and its colorful adornments. This piece is done in acrylic paint. A sea siren and I'm still debating if I should put fish in and out of her hair as if it were seaweed. That was my original plan, maybe even some kelp. But I think her eyes speak enough. We'll see :) My heart is back at work 3w

pomegranatesea Today, i turned 20 !! At first, the thought of being twenty really frightened me! My years of adolescents and living on "Sugar Mountain" and "tween living" are over and the unspoken expectations of maturity and adulthood would be crowned upon my unprepared head. But, then i made a list of all the things i have learned, achieved, overcome, experienced and the precious memories i have made throughout my first two decades of living, and realized that if that is what i have accomplished in just one small snippet of my life, then i am actually excited to see what the future holds. I thank my beautiful parents for the everlasting support and unconditional love towards me, as i walk my journey. I am thankful for the friends that have turned into family, and my many dreams that have turned into reality. For the longest time i thought i had to find myself to know who i am and what my "voice" is, but, life isn't about finding yourself. I learned your heart and soul are already found, within you, its only the matter of igniting water to your seed with inspiration and courage, till you have bloomed and shaped yourself into something marvelous and powerful. I have learned to humble myself, and to throw kindness around like confetti and to share and recycle love, because it will return like a soft whisper. I've learned to trust the vibes i get because energy doesn't lie. I've learned that everyone you meet in life is a teacher. I've learned to rise above the negativity when it is thrown at you, and turn it into flowers. I've learned to not let the sadness of my past and the fear of my future upset my present. I've learned that if something is terrifying and amazing, you should definitely pursue it, (( and yes sometimes, it takes balls to be a woman )) but you'll grow; and if you're not growing you're not really living. And I've learned to get out of my own way because, my time as a caterpillar has expired. My wings are ready for flying. 2mon

  •   1_infinite_loop Love the book. Bought my copy at the Hemingway house in key west 2mon
  •   pomegranatesea @1_infinite_loop I'm borrowing Bela's copy. But I'm gonna have to get my own eventually. I love how visual his literature is. As a visual person myself his work just slowly unwinds this melodious atmosphere in my head as I read. It's a simple formula but a deep undertone. Somewhat of an old tarnished melancholy feel in his way of work. Whenever I'm painting ... I always remind myself you want to invite someone there. So never be afraid of igniting your 5 senses. Touch, see, smell, taste, hear and Ernest puts all of that in his work but beautifully paints it in his writing without making a concrete list. I really just adore this book :) hahaha and only a quarter of the way in. 2mon
