  •   amarklandyoga Lean forward more and take your head back. Half the trick to Natrajanasana is leaning forward so the foot can come up...then you have to switch the gaze to take the head back...which is the hard part, for sure. Your foot is not that far away! 5d

  •   amarklandyoga That makes sense. The arms pretty much stay bent unless your spine has been removed like some of the yogis and gymnasts on IG. I still have my spine, and it's quite crooked from scoliosis, so backbending is always interesting. I don't think I could do this pose on the left side at all. If you keep your arms bent and take the head to the foot verses foot to head...it might work. Tight shoulders suck though. My shoulders and sacral area have been tight recently from some type of emotional baggage...I feel like I'm going to die every time I backbend! 5d
  •   polefly @amarklandyoga I have huge lats and when I lift my arms just over my head in general they feel like there are tearing I'm two haha, I always joke that I cannot lift my hands up over my head despite all the other cool things I can do. seeing ur video helped so I will try again so I can get deeper in the back as well. Back is def a weaker flex point for me too. 5d
  •   amarklandyoga Huge lats are not a bad thing! Most ashtangis have huge lats from all the jumping back. I know my backbends have gotten more shallow as my strength has improved...probably bigger lats and also stronger hip flexors from pulling my knees into my chest. I can actually feel my hip flexors getting tighter from all the contracting of my front body! I've worked so hard for my strength, but I totally lament how much more difficult backbending has become because of it! I guess it's better than being weak and bendy! 4d
