plannedparenthoodvotes A group opposed to Planned Parenthood's mission and services is making false accusations about our participation in tissue donation programs that support lifesaving scientific research. These groups have made similar false accusations for years. They have been widely discredited and their claims fall apart on closer examination, just as they do in this case.
Tissue donation programs at Planned Parenthood are done with the full, appropriate consent of the patient, under the highest ethical and legal standards, and there is no financial benefit for anyone.

plannedparenthoodvotes At Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, we believe that reproductive rights are deeply connected to civil rights for all Americans. We applaud #SCOTUS as they stood up with the LGBTQ community in the struggle for #MarriageEquality.
We also hope that this decision paves the way to raise awareness of other issues that deeply affect our trans* brothers and sisters, undocuqueer folks, and members in the LGBTQ community in general. Let's not stop the fight until all of the queer community achieves true full-equality!

plannedparenthoodvotes This is extreme: Members of Congress are proposing to TOTALLY ELIMINATE Title X, our country's family planning program.
Did you know that in 2013 alone, Title X health centers provided more than 1 million Pap tests, breast exams to 1.6 million women, and 6.8 million tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including nearly 1.2 million HIV tests?

The effort to eliminate this program would shatter the country’s public health safety net and jeopardize women’s health.

Taking action is crucial —help us #SaveTitleX! Spread the word >>> http://bit.ly/1SopOjB

plannedparenthoodvotes Do you know that a 70% of Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) in #Connecticut don't explicitly disclose that they are not a licensed medical facility?
Since they are not legitimate, licensed family planning clinics, CPCs operate without regulation or oversight, even though they are providing so-called “counseling” for women about pregnancy options.

Over the course of a thorough investigation that spanned two years, investigators from @naralct (NPCCF) discovered a consistent pattern of misinformation, deceptive advertising, and blatant lies about sexual and reproductive health.

plannedparenthoodvotes A big THANK YOU to those who joined us and the Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women at the Capitol this morning for the press conference celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut.

We are very proud to have friends from organizations like @naralct and ACLU of Connecticut that came and showed support. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Attorney General George Jepsen, Dr. Jewel Mullen, Commissioner of the Department of Public Health, and Republican State Representative Noreen Kokoruda spoke about the historical significance of the case, and the future of women’s health.

plannedparenthoodvotes #WCW: Fifty years ago this week, Estelle Griswold, who was the executive director of Planned Parenthood in #Connecticut, led the fight to the Supreme Court to protect access to birth control.

Griswold v. Connecticut overturned Connecticut state law and was the first time the Supreme Court held that marital privacy was something the Constitution protects. This decision would later form the basis of other landmark decisions such as Roe v. Wade.

plannedparenthoodvotes In 1965 the Supreme Court ruled on a case concerning a Connecticut law that criminalized the use of birth control. Ruling that the states had no right to ban contraception for married couples, the landmark case of Griswold v. Connecticut established — for the first time — a constitutional right to privacy regarding reproductive decisions that paved the way for the legalization of birth control for unmarried couples, and ultimately, Roe v. Wade and safe and legal abortion.

Today, we're still fighting to ensure that every woman in America has full access to the birth control method of her choosing without barriers based on cost, availability, stigma or other factors. It is proven that when women are in control of their reproductive health, they achieve numerous health, economic, and educational benefits.

We are also forever grateful with the leaders that made expanded access to birth control possible, especially Estelle Griswold, who was, at the time, the executive director of Planned Parenthood League of Connecticut. Their legacy lives on every day for the millions of women who come to Planned Parenthood for birth control across the country. #Griswold50 #ItStartedHere #Connecticut #PlannedParenthood #NewHaven

plannedparenthoodvotes Today is the #NationalDayToPreventTeenPregnancy!
Did you know that teen pregnancy is at a 40-year low in #America? It happened not because teens are not interested in sex, but because increased access to #birthcontrol, and comprehensive, age appropriate and medically accurate sex ed. Let's celebrate how far we've come, while recognizing that we still have work to do!
