pergidulu If I may borrow the mountain climber's term, this is the 'summit attack of Sigiriya'. From the Lion's paws to the top of Sigiriya. Take a deep breath and start climbing. Oh...beware of the traffic jam 3h

pergidulu Sigiriya Rock might just look like a big rock, but you'll be amazed when you reach the top. It was massively built! 10h

pergidulu Gray Langur - one of the several types of primates found in Sri Lanka. They don't seem to be as mischievous as the macaques. 23h

pergidulu On top of the 200 meter tall Sigiriya Rock. Awesome view overlooking the forest and the lake. If you're afraid of height, don't look down because it's quite high and it's also very windy. 1d

pergidulu Sigiriya Rock - Finally managed to climb it after waiting for a sunny day. Of course it rained again when we were almost at the top at the Lion's Paw. But I think it is an amazing place. Can't imagine how it looked like originally as a fortress. Entry fee is quite expensive for Sri Lankan standard, 30 USD. 1d

pergidulu A feast of Sri Lankan curries. These ones are vegetable curries: dhal (lentil curry), okra, banana flower, pol (coconut) sambal and papadums. They certainly have strong & rich flavors. Could be quite spicy as well. 2d

There are so many (stray) dogs in Sri Lanka. Not sure whether the locals like dogs or not because they always shoo the dogs out of the restaurants. Lots of the dogs are also in poor health condition

pergidulu When we visited Ruvanvelisaya Dagoba, they were having this temple ceremony. Hundreds of people were lining on the road outside the temple, holding the long orange cloth on both sides. Led by the music, those people entered the temple and circled the dagoba (stupa). And then a monk climbed the base of the dagoba to lead the wrapping of the base with that orange cloth. What a beautiful ceremony! 3d

pergidulu When people in Sri Lanka go to temple, they wear all-white. I think because white symbolises cleanliness. What do you think? 5d

pergidulu Majestic sunset at Mihintale, overlooking the large Mahaseya Dagoba. To imagine how big the stupa is, look at the stairs leading to it on the right side; the white dots are the people climbing the stairs. 6d

pergidulu Our first place to explore in Sri Lanka is Mihintale, 13 km east of Anuradhapura. This place has been associated with the earliest introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. Beautiful place and lots of good views from the top of the hills. Be ready to climb 3 hills bare feet 6d

pergidulu Welcome to our new chapter of adventures. We're in Sri Lanka at the moment. Keep following our journey exploring 'The Land of Lions'. This was our first introduction to train journeys in Sri Lanka. Got 2nd class ticket without reservation and we had to stand up for the whole 5 hours. Fun, eh? 7d

pergidulu Flying out of Maldives. ️ Such a beautiful place, worth to visit. Especially after knowing that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to stay in the resorts. Local islands have started to open up and hopefully will keep growing in the next few years. Funny how our guesthouse staff say "Rich people stay in the resorts, but now normal people can stay in the local islands in Maldives." Oh yes, we're not rich, we're just normal people 1w
