  •   mamabrick My son's preschool teacher asked me to make sure I send a joke every day because they have been reading them out loud during lunch and it's now a highlight of everyone's day. Thanks for making my son think I'm pretty cool :) 2d
  •   parscaeli @mamabrick Spread the cool! This makes me so happy!! I have a teacher friend who projects them for the kids in the morning. 1d

parscaeli My midday hangout with L involved his choice of games and devolved into tears. Ideas here: how do you help kids through little disappointment like losing a game? 3d
  •   sandrat212 I think a lot of it is developmental. They grow out if it. Keep at it! 3d
  •   tagandtibby Maybe try a different time of day? My kids have different tolerances for things dep on how hungry or tired they are .. 3d
  •   mylifeatplaytime Practice makes perfect, my kids are very used to losing to me in board games 3d
  •   parscaeli So true @sandrat212 The other two did. It's a new thing for our little guy 3d
  •   parscaeli @tagandtibby Good idea. This was right before lunch and nap. 3d
  •   sandrat212 @parscaeli Keep playing - you are modelling losing too. Empathize - "it's hard to lose, eh?" <---- maybe without the Canadianism. 3d
  •   parscaeli No, I'll keep it. Incorporate other cultures... @sandrat212 3d

parscaeli Dear @target Thank you for having the perfect Dorothy red shoes to complete one little girl's Halloween. #hopetheylastthatlong 4d
  •   thecraftedlife I had a pair of these as a kid and LOVED them. Go figure right? 4d
  •   _abbynormalish_ Yesssss!!!! 4d
  •   designimprovised My girls are Wizard of Oz obsessed and Stella is going to be Glinda for Halloween and Hazel the Wicked Witch (choices that match their personalities well - ha!). I am supposed to be Dorothy.. I wonder if target carries those shoes in adult sizes 3d
  •   parscaeli @designimprovised ohh! How fun. You'd make a great Dorothy. Ours had them up to adult sizes I think. 3d
  •   giulia_doyle @parscaeli - do you know what sizes they had? Maybe I'll be lucky and they'll have them in Canada as well. Our stock is usually very low and not complete ;)...but my 7 year old wants to be Dorothy 3d
  •   parscaeli @giulia_doyle They had infant to adult at our Super Target. Fingers crossed that they have something similar in yours. Might have them online... 3d
  •   northstoryca Ha! That's what mine were supposed to be. Glinda and Dorothy. Have the shoes too. Then they saw this little movie called Maleficent and suddenly there are day glo horns that arrived from Amazon in our home. 3d
  •   reneelareau We have toto in a basket if you want to borrow! 2d

parscaeli ICYMI, I might be losing it by naming the door to my garage, BUT it's led to a happier home. #homeorganization #stillteacherleftinme 4d
  •   flaxandtwine What do you think of this? My kids freak out when I check their homework and make them correct it because they say that's what the teacher is for . . . that they need to learn from their mistakes etc! It certainly sounds good to me to not fight about homework, but is that me just putting blinders on and avoiding a fight? 4d
  •   parscaeli @flaxandtwine I agree with your children that they need to learn from their mistakes but there's no reason they can't learn at home. It depends on the teacher - many take a grade on the papers themselves while others do the near and complete route. It's my entryway into their learning so I plan on assisting wherever I can. Sometimes having a different person explain it to you opens up an entire concept. 4d
  •   designlifekids Smart! 4d
  •   parscaeli @designlifekids Or ridiculous. Either way I have a clean kitchen! 4d

parscaeli Love my succulents but they're all getting leggy rather than full. Help. 5d
  •   iamahoneybee I always have that issue 5d
  •   northstoryca Mine look like mini trees now 5d
  •   amyhackworth I have been told they are reaching for the sun when they get leggy, and that's totally been true of my succulent that's not getting direct sunlight. Are yours getting some direct light everyday? I don't know if that's it, but it might give you a place to start researching... 5d
  •   parscaeli @amyhackworth Thank you for this info! They've been on my deck outside. Wonder if that was good or bad for them. 5d
  •   mamabrick I was just a our local nursery buying house plants because I was lazy caring for them over the summer and they looked more like preserved specimens than plants. The lady told me if they get leggy you need to snip back the leggy piece or else they will keep growing leggy instead of increasing branches and getting fuller.she made it sound very simple but I'm sure I will manage to screw this up. #brownthumb 5d
  •   parscaeli Ah. Ok. I'll try that, @mamabrick thank you! 5d
