osnyder Up early to unpack. I was worried I'd made an impulsive decision and that the new apartment wouldn't be enough of an improvement-- so wrong! This place feels twice as big as my old apartment. And so quiet an peaceful and beautiful! 3d

  •   osnyder @karzoo, I'm wondering what you'd have to say about this place. Too much to say over IG, but I was not happy with how it was run. It's in the absolute middle of nowhere in Petersburg, NY. I may email you. 3w

  •   karszoo Oh no. I'm not familiar with that place. I'll look it up. 3w

osnyder I hung out with Pistachio today, a 10-year old red-crowned Amazon, who's available for adoption at the Erie Ave. SPCA. He was seized along with two other parrots and several other animals in a neglect case. He strikes me as a manageable handful of a bird-- I think he'd warm up pretty quickly and seems very bright. he's being taken care of reasonably well-- the staff at the shelter are aware of his needs, and are attentive, but they're not bird people, and he needs a good, stable home. these are beautiful, talkative, long-lived creatures, endangered in the wild. #redcrownedamazon #amazonparrot #parrot #adoptableparrot 4w

  •   ipopsteady Looks like it! (Along with a yellow tang aka surgeonfish.) Where is that? Damn, I miss my tank... 1mon
  •   osnyder @ipopsteady brand new sushi/Thai/Chinese joint in New Hope with a posh 80s-meets-now interior, and nouveau-punk underage employes-- but they were surprisingly classy. The food was promising! And the tanks weren't elaborate but really big and beautiful to watch. 1mon
  •   ipopsteady That tank must be huge too, huh? I've read that those yellow tangs need lots of room (anywhere from 50 to 70 gallons per tang). 1mon
  •   ipopsteady But I always used to feel guilty eating sushi in front of my fish... 1mon
  •   forgedandfound I really enjoyed your sushi restaurant description here. 1mon
  •   osnyder @ipopsteady yeah really huge, and not crowded, the fish seemed really happy, if that's possible to detect. They seemed active and curious. 1mon
  •   osnyder @forgedandfound one of the girls had bangs and long pigtail braids, dyed two candy colors, maybe red and blue, or something like that. And she was wearing a very nice shade of red lipstick and just managed to pull it off well. Their gothy looks and yet professional carriage was notable. 1mon
  •   rchesbro75 It needs a name 1mon

osnyder The Whitney Museum of American Art is my favorite NY museum, and its upcoming move saddens me-- I trust the new site will be spectacular, and the MET taking over the brilliant Breuer building makes it ok. I came to see Jeff Koons because it's the last show at 75th and Madison, not because I was any sort of Koons fan, and I knew it would be "entertaining." But the show was wonderful, and left me with a great deal of respect, admiration, and a new appreciation for the artist. Really glad we came. #whitneymuseumofamericanart #jeffkoons #balloondog 2mon
  •   kt_rix my favorite too! I didn't know it was moving the building itself is one of the reasons I love it 2mon
  •   osnyder @kt_rix it's heartbreaking!! But the future of it all looks pretty promising 2mon
  •   jasonarthurhickey Sucks that location is closing. The American Century exhibition back in 99 and 2000 was one of the most inspiring museum experiences I've had. I went to see part one twice and part two three times. I keep the tickets with my concert ticket collection! 2mon
  •   osnyder @jasonarthurhickey I'm with you. I didn't see that exhibit, but three of the most memorable and moving shows I've seen-- Bill Viola, Mark Rothko, and Wayne Thiebaud-- were all there. I still think about the Bill Viola retrospective all the time, and it was in 1998. 2mon
  •   jasonarthurhickey @osnyder I remember that Rothko exhibit too! It was a huge deal, all of NYC was abuzz about it 2mon
  •   osnyder @jasonarthurhickey did you live in NYC back in the day? 2mon
  •   jasonarthurhickey @osnyder I did! I went to NYU so I was there from 1997-2001. Did you live there too? 2mon
  •   osnyder @jasonarthurhickey I never lived there! Just visit frequently. And a good friend of mine moved there a year ago and travels constantly so lately it's been so easy to have someplace to stay-- been taking advantage of it 2mon
