ocosbieross Rising in Love is the film I wrote for my final project in my first year at university. Unfortunately it's not cleared for public exhibition yet...so, if you'd like to see it, just ask and I can send you a link and password! 3w

ocosbieross Cannot bloody wait for this tonight. You can't get much better than going to see your favourite director's film accompanied by a live performance of your favourite composer's score at the Royal Albert Hall all presented by Michael Caine with the physicist Kip Thorne and Christopher Nolan discussing the film before the showing! Great birthday present! 2mon

ocosbieross I have a lot to say about this film. I am actually quite upset about the reactions to this work of non-fiction I had read prior to seeing it this evening. Before I go on, I will say this contains spoilers, which unfortunately I have to write about in order to express my opinion.

This was a great film. Really, really good. I can honestly say Clint Eastwood hasn't let Chris Kyle's father down with this picture.

First of all, a lot of people have said this doesn't deserve the 6 Academy Awards it has been nominated for. Yes, while it may not be the best performance by an actor of this year, it certainly deserves to contend for Best Picture! The editing was okay but for both the sound categories, I would argue it has a right to be there. But this all comes down to the fact that people have to understand this for what it is, a tribute. Without recognition or appreciation, this wouldn't be a fair tribute to the hero that was Chris Kyle. I'm not saying this is a free pass for Oscar nominations, but what I am saying is, this isn't just any ordinary war film.

Now, for the imbeciles that have tweeted racist remarks and claiming this film is their inspiration to act on said racist remarks, you are fucking stupid. Like I said, this isn't an ordinary war film and it is non-fiction so the issues depicted within the film are true and have already affected millions of people before now. So for you to treat this film as propaganda and not what it actually represents, only says you clearly did not understand the film.
While all that did upset me, it was an amazing film and Chris Kyle's father was right to trust Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper with his son's story.

ocosbieross I don't think I'll look at Steve Carell in the same way ever again. He is calmly and unnervingly disturbing. Not sure whether I enjoyed watching this film or just pleased to know of such a gripping true story. 5mon
