nobigdillkaty Fun mail from my dad! He taught by example: if you're going to do something, do it beautifully. (He embossed the envelope and glued a grass picture inside ) Thanks, dad! To Spring, indeed! 4d

nobigdillkaty The amazing thing is, Pearl can tell all 7 of the baby bunnies apart and knows their personalities (and has her favorites). Isn't it exciting when they learn and know things (and have talents and interests) all their own? #pennysbabybunnies 5d

nobigdillkaty The longer I'm a mom, the more I appreciate my own, how she always kept her cool, how she taught correct principles, and allowed us to make minor mistakes, how she always encouraged us to go after our heart's desire, even if it wasn't lucrative, how she truly listened to us, even if it seemed like a silly matter to her, how she taught us about run-on sentences. And really, this should all be in present tense because she still does. Happy birthday, mom. I hope my kids love me like I do you. 7d

nobigdillkaty Just about the only lovely thing to look at in the Hospital. Feeling so grateful for modern medicine, Ryan's mom is getting her dislocated hip...located? Not that she lost it... I know there are so many in the world who can't even get the most basic of healthcare and wonder sometimes why there is such a discrepancy between our life and theirs. But giving gratitude for my blessings today and that we can go back home (on crutches for some) to my healthy, little baby dills. 1w
  •   jennbonk79 Love to Ryan's mom! prayers for a speedy recovery! 7d

nobigdillkaty {Rosemary & I love you} People are more important than things, my mom would always say. But sometimes you have to say it over and over (and over while the steam comes out of your ears) when almost your entire collection of hands is broken, even though it's on a shelf 10 feet high, but you repeat that people are more important than things until you remember that, indeed they are. Hands down. 1w
  •   autrosegoodwin I feel this so much. 1w
  •   theblackpumpkin @autrosegoodwin same here. I would be T.O.ed. "Collection of hands" - that is the best thing I've heard all day. 1w
  •   andreamay1029 I would rough it up a little, smudge some light stain, put some moss around the brokenness, not to hide, but accentuate. Then a little bunch of gathered stems and sticks, pretty tiny to hang over her pointer, and paint a big red heart in the middle of her palm.@nobigdillkaty 1w
  •   andreamay1029 Oops, the little vines, moss, and sticks secured with wire into a small wreath to hang over her pointer. Ooohhh now I need to go find me a broken flowerpot hand. 1w
  •   ejbt That's the "i love you" gesture, right? 1w
  •   4xmom Unmmmm hand collection??!! 1w
  •   southernfrog Perfect that it is the sign for "I love you". I would just file down the broken bits a little and keep it as a reminder ;). Plus sign is big in my house 6d
  •   jpcaruso You are awesome! Love how real your posts are. I remember when I was single, leaving by myself, spending money on nice things, and a cousin of mine came from out of town for a business meeting and stayed with me. He looked around my apartment noticing my "nice things" and said "I hope you don't have kids one day..." but yeah, my mom always told me what your mom told you. 5d

nobigdillkaty For Christmas Clover brought me a gift that was addressed to "mom". I told her it wasn't to me because my name is mommy. She asked when she can call me mom instead of mommy. I told her when she moves out, because the role of mother doesn't get any raises, Oscars, or any other worldly accolade, so if I want to be called mommy, then give it to me. Please. 1w
  •   staceybasler I do that too. In fact, when my kids started calling me mom, I started calling them by 1/2 of their first name...el (instead of Ella) and ju (instead of justin). They hated it so much, they were happy to start calling me mommy again! 1w
  •   newski57 You have a beautiful family, and I just love your posts. 1w
  •   rokonmom My 19 yo and 17 yo call me mommy, i went to my 17yos work to say high and he ran out from behind the counter and yelled 'mommy' and gave me a huge hug. It. Was. Awesome. 1w
  •   gammydill Love the picture! 1w
  •   geckogrl2002 Yep you have to call me mummy round here till you leave school 1w

nobigdillkaty Divine and I toured a magnet high school this morning. A. High. School. On the way there, crossing a bridge, she casually mentioned that she was mentally prepared should the bridge collapse and we are plunged into the cold water. We have 2 minutes to break the glass or open doors before the water pressure builds too much and then we blow bubbles to know which way to swim. I guess if she's prepared for such an event, starting high school should be a breeze. Me, on the other hand...I'll just ignore the fact I'm old enough to have a(n almost) high schooler and enjoy these late blossoms. 2w
  •   betcjane My oldest is now on a mission and my second is a freshman at BYU. I still can't believe I'm old enough to have children let alone adult children! Time should slow down every once in a while. 2w
  •   chile_the_great @divinedill our lunch time discussions 2w
  •   adriannaappl Oh man, one of my high schools was magnet and it was such an incredible experience! 2w
  •   cathgrace My oldest is a freshman this year, and my youngest will be a freshman this fall (they are 20 months apart but the oldest is after the deadline and the youngest is before, so they are only a year apart at school) I keep wondering if it will hit me harder this fall than last fall, since last fall I was able to be mentally in denial since both of my kids have skipped a grade, so were not "technically" the age of high schoolers.... 2w
  •   jgmackenzie My youngest had to remind me yesterday that legally he is a grown-up, and I have no real "children" anymore. ( in my dreams, he is alway either 8 or 3 years old.) 2w
  •   jammietart Ha! I love the bridge story ~ and you will be the hippest mom of a high schooler. Love that 'job' list on the wall 2w
  •   gvillejen I totally got one of those window breakers after watching Myth Busters too! So many bridges in Jax! 1w
  •   jlclowers I was always prepared for that in Jacksonville! Those bridges are scary!! 7d

nobigdillkaty It's a rare and beautiful thing to find what you're meant to do at the tender age of 10. I had a friend say to me, after seeing Olive dance, she is really good...she could go all the way. And when I have told people in the past that my kids don't do sports, I didn't realize that ballet is just as vigorous, if not more. #olivedill #iloveolive 2w
