nicoleespina Cristina García Rodero is a documentary and fine art photographer from Spain. She bought her own camera and began shooting at the age of 16. After studying painting at the University of Madrid she spent 15 years researching and documenting religious and pagan festivals in small villages across Spain and Mediterranean Europe. These images are contained in her book "España Oculta", which won the Arles Festival of Photography's Book of the Year Award in 1989. That year she also won the W. Eugene Smith Grant for Humanistic Photography. Since then Rodero has expanded her work to other cultures including documenting voodoo rituals in Haiti. She is a member of the photo agencies Magnum and Agence Vu.

nicoleespina Good morning, Madrid (and by morning I mean nearly noon). Today is my last full day in Spain. It's 82 with a high of 90, the coolest day we've had in two weeks, and I'm looking forward to wandering around, getting my fill of jamón and cochinilla, and spending time with my family. This has been a crazy, fun trip. I'm not quite ready to come home but reality beckons. See you soon, California. 2w
