nicole_mejia Here are three of my favorite shoulder workouts using the Fit and Thick resistance bands:
1. Face pulls - the bands should be placed at the top of the door frame. Keeping the elbows high, pull towards your face and squeeze the shoulder blades together. This workout targets the rear deltoids and the traps. Repeat for 20 reps.
2. Upwards row - Secure the bands at the bottom of the door frame. Pull the hands straight up under your chin leading upwards with the elbows. This workout targets the deltoids and the upper traps. Repeat for 15 reps.
3. Lateral raises - The bands should be secured in the bottom of the door. Grab the handle with the right hand and face outwards with your left side closest to the door. The band should fall across your body. Pull straight up to the side until the band is parallel to the floor and repeat for 15 reps on each side. This workout targets the deltoids.

nicole_mejia Genetics play a role in the way we look, but don't forget that hard work and consistency are just as important.
The three years that separate these two photos consisted of training butt and legs twice a week and maintaining a nutritional regimen reflective of my goals for about 80% of my weekly meals.
Genetically, I tend to be on the heavier side with very little muscle mass. Throughout high school and college, my focus was always to get as thin as I could without paying attention to how much muscle I had on my body. The photo on the left is reflective of that time in my life. You see curves but I had very little muscle, especially in my glutes.
I often see comments stating that I look the way I do today because of my genetics, and honestly, it makes me crazy when I read that.
I work my ass off to look the way I do. Sure, I have a naturally curvy frame, but the muscle mass that I've spent the past three years building and the nutrition plan I that I've chosen to follow are a result of my dedication and consistency to meeting my goals.
There's so much advice that's floating around out there; some of it legit and the rest coming from people who feel they're qualified because they own some sneakers and go to the gym a few times a week.
There are certain things that you can't change about your body, but there are a hell of a lot of things that you can, and no matter what teas or wraps or pills you buy into, NOTHING will take the place of good old fashioned, hard work.
Set some goals tonight, and get to work tomorrow.
