nicolajdodd Morning flowers! Glorious here, which is a welcome distraction from the lack of Internet as our our phone line was helpfully ploughed up a few days ago!! Mobile coverage is a bit wobbly too, so I'm missing lots of your lovely posts. Looking forward to catching up with you all soon (pretty please Openreach!) have a scrumptious weekend... 1w

nicolajdodd My little Magnolia stellata doesn't seem to have been damaged by the snow, just the odd burnt petal. Phew!... 2w

nicolajdodd Some very welcome sunshine this afternoon has tempted our Bergenias to start flowering. This is my favourite variety, 'Baby Doll', which has fresh green leaves, pale pink flowers and makes a lovely edging to a border... 4w
  •   windyday_ Such a pretty colour Nicola. I hope the sun stays around a while for you xx 4w
  •   simplyhouseandhome I used to have these in my last house and didn't bring any with me which is a shame. I have a new area of the garden to play with Nicola I should sit down and make a list shouldn't I tend to just buy on the hoof 😟 4w

nicolajdodd I'm a little bit sad to have finished piecing this quilt: I have loved making every. single. block. I've decided to hand quilt it so I can enjoy the process for a little bit longer, because slow & steady wins the race...

  •   nicolajdodd It depends on how you want to quilt it Carol @simplyhouseandhome I use a running stitch to quilt mine and I like the quilt batting to shrink a little bit so it looks vintagey. I use 100% cotton batting like 'warm and white'. You could also machine stitch along the seams if you don't fancy all that hand stitching (ask to try a walking foot at your local sewing machine shop, which will cope better with the thickness of the quilt). If you want to tie the quilt - using decorative stitches in a grid over the quilt - I'd wash the batting first to get rid of the shrinkage. Hope I haven't confused you even more!!!! xx 1mon
  •   nicolajdodd PS: @simplyhouseandhome meant to say that I always wash mine. It's the first thing I do when I've finished making one: low temp wash and cool tumble xx 1mon
  •   kristywicks Love that you love it so much!! 1mon
  •   nicolajdodd No excuse not to tackle my giant pile of ironing now I've finished @kristywicks xx 1mon
