nickcinema I had a surreal dream about a #bibliophile's kitchen in an alternate universe and decided to turn it into a photo series. For me this combines lots of things I love and I like how it turned out. I'm trying to do more conceptual stuff this year.

Thanks to my lovely wife @clownsrscary for modeling, putting up with my late night oven mitt run, and letting me tear apart the kitchen and cram books everywhere!

What's the craziest thing you've ever done to bring your vision to reality?

nickcinema A Midnight Snack....this is the crazy vision that got me putting books in weird places for IG shots.
How far will you go to get the perfect shot? What's the craziest thing you've done for a picture? Drop a comment and share the story! If it's posted on IG tag #MyCrazyVision so we can check it out

nickcinema One of my resolutions, creatively, for 2015 is "don't make wallpaper." I will not make art that doesn't matter to me. I will not copy others or make things only to get likes and followers. I will embrace who I am and follow that wherever it leads me. When I have crazy ideas for pictures I will make them happen, whether or not they're any good. I'm not afraid of running out of cool ideas, I'm afraid of not making cool ideas a reality. Anyone with me? 3w

nickcinema "Car window shattered? Make good art!" I came out early in the morning, full of hope about the new year, and found my car window shattered. Second thing I thought was "Get the macro lens!" Third thing I thought was how cold of a drive this was going to be be. (Quote is adapted from Neil Gaiman's amazing "Make Good Art" commencement speech, which you should definitely check out!) 3w

nickcinema Last week at the station is done and I'm heading on to an exciting new adventure. I'm totally excited and scared, but I know that whenever I feel a little scared at work I'm about to learn and grow. About four years ago I learned to embrace that feeling and never look back! 2mon

nickcinema This is Grounds for Thought, which was voted the best independent coffee shop in Ohio. Since it's such a small shop, I never realized they're also the largest used bookstore in the region. The owners, Kelly and Laura Wicks, are both deeply involved in the community and committed to helping make Bowling Green a wonderful place to live. Grounds also records live concerts at the shop and releases them on vinyl. It's a special place and a constant source of inspiration and caffeination for our entire community. Oh, and if you stop in, I recommend the Tanzanian Peaberry coffee and a trashy crime paperback! 2mon

nickcinema It feels like there should be tension between experiencing beauty/moments/places and capturing them on film, but I think it's a false dichotomy. For me, it's a process of being present in a moment so perfect that it invites a new act of creation. And often, in this act of creation, such a moment will finally reveal its deeper significance. 2mon

nickcinema 'It’s not that we have to quit this life one day, it’s how many things we have to quit all at once: holding hands, music, cinema, the physics of falling leaves, smiling, the color of the sky, coffee, literature, and love... If only one could leave this life slowly!' If only...yet that's what makes it beautiful. (Quote slightly altered from Roman Payne - Hope and Despair) 2mon

nickcinema "A tree I’ll grow, to let you know
My love is older than my soul." I started listening to The Lone Bellow a while back when I was driving alone from state to state on video shoots. That was when I decided to make a habit of pulling over whenever I saw an image I loved and trying to capture it. My shots weren't always perfect, but I still pulled over like a huge dork and captured the moments. Today, as I pulled over to get this shot, I realized it was about more than just photography. I was learning to slow down, be spontaneous and stop letting beautiful moments pass me by.
