nickcinema Last week at the station is done and I'm heading on to an exciting new adventure. I'm totally excited and scared, but I know that whenever I feel a little scared at work I'm about to learn and grow. About four years ago I learned to embrace that feeling and never look back! 3w

nickcinema Tomorrow is my last day working at PBS. Making 180 degree turn next week and heading to work for a very cool ad agency, where I'm so stoked to make awesome stuff! It's been an amazing journey here and one of the best parts has been working with, mentoring and learning from our crew of university students, like the dude in this photo, who are the core of our production team. Looking forward to new adventures! 3w

nickcinema This is Grounds for Thought, which was voted the best independent coffee shop in Ohio. Since it's such a small shop, I never realized they're also the largest used bookstore in the region. The owners, Kelly and Laura Wicks, are both deeply involved in the community and committed to helping make Bowling Green a wonderful place to live. Grounds also records live concerts at the shop and releases them on vinyl. It's a special place and a constant source of inspiration and caffeination for our entire community. Oh, and if you stop in, I recommend the Tanzanian Peaberry coffee and a trashy crime paperback! 4w
  •   jsheath714 Perfect! I remember before Grounds expanded into the used book store it is today. 4w
  •   nickcinema @jsheath714 Me too! I bet you have some fond memories of Grounds! My parents used to take me there when I was really little after early morning hockey practices and I'd get a Milky Way. Still do! And as far as I remember, it really hasn't changed besides growing a bit and getting better. 4w
  •   wyliej This is awesome.! 3w
  •   nickcinema @wyliej Thanks so much! 3w
  •   johnjurko I remember crossing the street from my apartment and taking refuge in Grounds on blustery winter days. I'd get a mocha and pull out my notebook to do some writing. Inevitably I would eavesdrop on the most interesting conversations and get nothing done. Oh yeah, and then you'd come over and kick my butt in scrabble. Good times. 3w
  •   nickcinema @johnjurko it's impossible to get anything done when someone is talking there! Yeah remember that drunk old guy with Playstation games. Tandem jumping fa... 3w

nickcinema It feels like there should be tension between experiencing beauty/moments/places and capturing them on film, but I think it's a false dichotomy. For me, it's a process of being present in a moment so perfect that it invites a new act of creation. And often, in this act of creation, such a moment will finally reveal its deeper significance. 1mon

nickcinema 'It’s not that we have to quit this life one day, it’s how many things we have to quit all at once: holding hands, music, cinema, the physics of falling leaves, smiling, the color of the sky, coffee, literature, and love... If only one could leave this life slowly!' If only...yet that's what makes it beautiful. (Quote slightly altered from Roman Payne - Hope and Despair) 1mon

nickcinema "A tree I’ll grow, to let you know
My love is older than my soul." I started listening to The Lone Bellow a while back when I was driving alone from state to state on video shoots. That was when I decided to make a habit of pulling over whenever I saw an image I loved and trying to capture it. My shots weren't always perfect, but I still pulled over like a huge dork and captured the moments. Today, as I pulled over to get this shot, I realized it was about more than just photography. I was learning to slow down, be spontaneous and stop letting beautiful moments pass me by.

nickcinema "These are the voices which we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world." So tranquil wandering empty trails this morning while the rest of the world slept. Anyone else get up and outside to leave the first footprints this morning? 1mon

nickcinema I was recently introduced to #theNWohiospot by @trevlee @b_dickman and @alexmgoetz. We made this video as a love letter to that special place and the beauty of NW Ohio. This Fall I was reminded that adventure and beauty are everywhere if you seek them, and inspired to never stop making things!
