natgeo Video by @chamiltonjames (Charlie Hamilton James) Tourists watch the sun set over the Grand Canyon, Arizona. Even with all the build up the view blew my mind. I love watching and photographing tourists hard at work - this was the perfect place. Testing out a pre-release version of an app 'hyperlapse'. #hyperlapse #grandcanyon @instagram 1h

natgeo Portrait of Tamara Pierre, 6, in a sugar producing area outside of Cap Haitian, Haiti. Tamara is wearing a “choublac” or hibiscus blossom in her hair, which is the unofficial national flower of Haiti. “I took this picture because the hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers,” says Myrmara Prophète, 14, a student of the first @natgeo @fotokonbit photography workshop series now in #caphaitian this week. National Geographic and FotoKonbit, a non-profit for photography education, are creating photos for an upcoming story. Photo by Myrmara Prophète 9h

Rodolfo Cordia (holding the little guy) and Leonardo Salgado named the late Cretaceous Dino after Zulma Bardoni de Gasparini, a well know Argentine paleontologist. natgeo Photo @coryrichards The basalt face of Rubini Rock in Franz Josef Land #Russia. Many different species of sea birds nest on Rubini during mating season, providing an incredible opportunity to observe and count populations. Birds are an incredible barometer of marine ecosystems, giving us a clearer view of our impacts above and below the surface. natgeo @paulnicklen on assignment for @natgeo. Emperor Penguins rocket to the surface. They release millions of micro bubbles from their feathers in order to reduce the amount of friction between their bodies and the water, allowing them to accelerate to much greater speeds to avoid leopard seal predation. Leopard seals hide under the ice edge, waiting to ambush the penguins at this moment when they are most vulnerable. @sea_legacy @natgeocreative @thephotosociety #nature #wildlife #penguins #picoftheday #instagramhub #marineprotectedareas 2d

natgeo Photo by Michael Yamashita @yamashitaphoto. For the nomadic herders on the Tibetan Plateau, the yak is vital to sustaining life in a harsh environment. Not only do yaks provide transportation, meat, milk and shelter in the form of yak hair tents, they are also a source of fuel on the virtually treeless plateau. Yak dung is a renewable source of energy, which once collected, is dried into paddies and burned for use in cooking and heating. #yakdung #Tibet #TibetanPlateau #nomads #chamagudao @thephotosociety 2d

natgeo Families visit the Plaza de la Constitución in the center of Guatemala City, Guatemala (Phone photo by @stephsinclairpix). This is our first visit to Latin America to look at the issue of child marriage. According to the UNFPA report Marrying Too Young, many developing countries lack evidence to document prevalence and trends regarding child marriage and are therefore unable to develop appropriate policies and programmes to address it. However the report states that the Latin American countries of Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala all have a high prevalence of the practice. #tooyoungtowed #endchildmarriage #nofilter 2d
