montessolu His current favorite thing to do. I never showed him directly. One day I tried to peel a banana for him and he screamed, snatched it away and showed me he could do it himself #montessorichild #metussori14 5d

montessolu Solu finishes school at 2.30 and my lectures go until 4. He has to be in class with me and has to be very quiet for the hour+. Its hard for both of us but we are doing our best. Usually he comes and tries to set up some work quietly. Today I have set up in advance and I'm hoping it makes it a little easier. 1w
  •   yurtsquirts Ooohhh.... I haven't seen a puzzle presented like that before. What age is your son again? 1w
  •   montessoricarrie @itsapracticallife A. still loves those construction puzzles even though she is into more pieces now for a good challenge. @montessolu I do the same for A. at my school. She has to stay late with me, today for almost 2 hours. I brought this same puzzle for her today! It is hard but we manage. She doesn't have to be as quiet as Solu probably does though. You are doing amazing work! The course, the mini-prepared environment for Solu and mothering all at once! Thank you for sharing your journey. You are in my prayers. 1w
  •   montessolu @yurtsquirts he is almost 3 (34months). I have never presented a puzzle to him in this way actually but it was his first time with this puzzle and I wasn't going to have time to say anything or show so I put it in this way with hopes that it would make it easier for him to just get into it. He got the idea but mixed it all up before starting. He does his puzzles by trial and error. 5d
  •   montessolu @montessoricarrie it has been the hardest part of being here. He is as the highest limit of how quiet you can ask a 2 year old to be but it is not enough. We are trying something different this week and hoping it works. Thanks for the prayers they are very much needed and appreciated 5d

montessolu I love how this picture shows some aspects of their personalities. Metu is definitely more outgoing and adventurous. Solu is cautious and very protective of his little brother. See how he is holding his hands? Ready to rescue him if the need arises. Being in a completely new environment has really put Solu on guard. Strange sounds startle him but he never runs without first grabbing his brother. It seriously brings tears to my eyes every time. I am so glad they have each other and balance each other. I pray they are grow up with so much love and are just always there for each other. #brothers #solumetu #lifeinperugia #amitraininginperugia #metussori13 #montessolu33 3w

montessolu I hope they grow up to be adults who are not scared of or indifferent to the other creatures that inhabit our beautiful earth. I hope they grow up to be stewards of the environment. #wefoundaladybug #feedingpidgeons #lifeinperugia #amitraininginperugia #montessori #childreninnature #childhoodunplugged #solumetu #montessolu33 #metussori13 3w

montessolu The ceiling in Solu's classroom. Every time I drop him off or pick him up, he points to one of the characters and asks who it is. Me: ummmm... Maybe Valentina knows? Except we don't know how to ask Valentina in Italian. #lifeabroad #livinginitaly #amitraininginperugia #montessoriadventures #montessolu33 3w

montessolu This guy is doing great too! His new favorite thing to do is take off his shoes. He hasn't completely figured out the taking off part but he is almost there. He is saying so many words. Yesterday we were at the park and a man walked by, Metu immediately touched his head and said cap. I looked and the man was wearing a cap. Later in the day I bumped my head and said ouch. He said sorry and made the hand gesture. He says no no no when he doesn't want something accompanied by wagging index finger. He is starting to understand Italian too and is seriously growing to fast. When they go to bed at 7/7.30 I am usually bone tired but I try to count the blessing of each day. They have seriously been amazing and I am grateful to them for putting up with this big change and adapting so gracefully #metussori13 #montessori #montessorichild #amitraininginperugia 3w

montessolu I am seriously high on the fact that my Solu is attending a Montessori school right now. He was the first child to arrive class today and wanted to show me how to iron. His teacher said that after she showed him yesterday, he ironed and folded all the handkerchiefs and asked for more. All the adults in his environment have had lovely things to say about him and it seriously makes it all worth it. I am so grateful for all the opportunities we have been given. It is so hard to have them here by myself especially with the intense course but I won't have it any other way! Did I mention this is an Italian school and Maria Montessori visited and observed here in 1913?! #montessorichild #montessolu33 #amitraininginperugia 3w

montessolu After a few days of constant hoodie wear, he figured out how to put the zip together. It took a long time the first couple times but he refused any offer to help and kept at it till he figured it out. #montessolu33 #montessorichild #practicallife #montessori 3w

montessolu Today was so much better for Solu in school. His teacher was very happy because he only asked for me once and when she explained that I was not available he took it. She said she started catching glimpses of his personality and saw him laughing and smiling a lot today. He told her he had worked on the pink tower in mummy's classroom and offered to show her how to build it. He really enjoys cleaning up with the assistant after lunch and always pushes the cart with her to the kitchen and empties it. I am really happy and feeling more peace. His teacher and assistant are lovely and have really made the transition positive for him. I am excited for all that he will learn and experience k we the next three months. #amitraininginperugia #montessolu33 3w
