misstamchiak Charity dinner tonight at Iskina Cebu Lechon. @makansutrasingapore has bought three little piggies to make lechon stuffed with laksa risotto and seafood to raise funds for the disadvantaged and terminally ill kids from Club Rainbow Singapore. The laksa risotto prepared by @kfseetoh turns out perfectly soft, with crispy lechon skin and a kickass sambal, super shiok! If you are at Paya Lebar tonight, drop by Iskina Cebu now! 19h

misstamchiak In conjunction with SG50 celebration, People's Association has rolled out a series of 50.Taste cooking workshops this year. Aunty and I are attending a cooking demonstration by Chef Alan Seet as he teaches us how to cook some nonya delights. The sambal brinjal is so simple yet tastes so good. The wonderful and spicy taste of rempah mixed together with the fragrant aroma from the dried shrimp and belachan creates a perfect combination when stir fried together with brinjal. I am so gonna try it at home!

To celebrate the launch of 50.Taste, People's Association is holding a "COOK-OFF! Men Cook With Love" competition on 9 May 2015 at Tampines Community Plaza. If you know of any male individual who knows how to cook, encourage them to take part and prepare mouth-watering dishes revolving around the theme of “Our Secret Recipe”. Simply email your name, address, NRIC, contact number and date of birth to christina_heng@pa.gov.sg. Seeya there!

misstamchiak Dropped by Dazzling Cafe for tea before heading to Singapore Maritime Exhibition. This franchise from Taiwan is having soft launch now and is only opened from 12 to 8pm. I went at about 4pm and there was no queue, woohoo! The waitress recommended me to try Mango & Coconut Gelato Honey Toast as this is only sold in Singapore. Absolutely love the sweet 'dazzling' yellow mango cubes. Pairing the crispy toast with coconut gelato reminds me of old school ice cream bread that I always eat. Can't wait for the weekends to arrive. 5d

misstamchiak Malaysian Food Street at Resorts World Sentosa introduces new hawker dishes by 3 Guest Hawkers from Penang. The hawkers include, Hawker Hafaz from Mamak Mee Goreng of Penang Swee Kong Kopitiam, Hawker Ah Heng of Ah Heng Koay Teow Th’ng and the Kang family of Kwang Beef Noodles. I love the Mamak Mee Goreng most. Hawker Hafaz who is a second generation hawker will serve his father’s yummy fried yellow noodles mixed with crunchy bits of Indian fried batter and the secret, sometimes tongue-numbing, cuttlefish chili sauce. Drizzle some fresh lime juice for a fusion of taste and texture. Their dishes will be available for guests for limited period, from the 20th April to 10th May. 6d

misstamchiak Supposed to wake up earlier and go for hot yoga. But I overslept, SIGH. So I decided to have breakfast instead. Reminiscing the black carrot cake I had at Telok Blangah Drive Food Centre last Sunday. The stall serves both white and black versions. I love the black one, with sweet sauce, plenty of egg and chai po. It's super long queue but the aunty is still very friendly! 6d

misstamchiak Haven't been baking for some time, so I made banana cake tonight with my aunt. Didn't have sour cream and cake flour, so I used yogurt and all purpose flour instead. It's just very old school moist banana cake. Enjoy!

Old School Banana Cake

Ingredients:
240g ripe banana
120g yogurt
2 eggs
140g butter
100g sugar
2 tablespoon brown sugar
180g all purpose flour, sifted
2 tablespoon cornstarch, sifted
3/4 tsp baking powder, sifted
1 tsp baking soda, sifted
1/4 tsp salt

Method:
1. Preheat oven at 180 degree celsius. Line baking moulds with baking paper.
2. Puree banana, yogurt and eggs together.
3. Cream butter till light. Gradually add in sugar and brown sugar.
4. Add in banana puree a bit at a time, and continue to cream till smooth.
4. Fold in flour mixtures in two batches.
5. Pour the batter into the moulds. Bake for 30 minutes or till cooked.
