miss_and A little sunset over the Dickson Wetlands.
Many decades ago Sullivan's Creek was concreted into a drainage canal, and was as ugly as you'd expect.
But in just the past few years, sections have been converted back into wetlands areas, slowing down torrential flows after rain and attracting bird life. Locals love to spend time in these areas.
Canberra, Australia.

miss_and Simpson and his donkey, carrying a wounded soldier, at the Australian War Memorial.
Though we now understand most of Simpson's story to be myth, his tale of selfless human endeavour in extremis is so well loved that his statue is adorned with hand-knitted poppies in the rain this ANZAC Day.

miss_and The rain held off until after the ANZAC Day National Service and March were done.
It's much busier today; on an early morning earlier this week the Hall of Honour was quiet and the rain fell softly in peace.

miss_and Canberra: land of sunsets, making the ordinary, extraordinary. These are our reward for cold, windy, shitty weather. 2w

miss_and Fog...
Hazardous conditions - typical, on the Oxley Hwy SE of Walcha, heading to Port Macquarie. NSW, Australia. Some 10km of tight winding slippery road ahead.

miss_and Brooding skies over Wellington, NSW, Australia.
If on the road and looking for a place to stop that isn't Dubbo, always choose Wellington. Smaller town with more heritage streetscapes, and some great emerging cafes and other spots

miss_and Driver Reviver, Canowindra
These driver revivers are one of the great, unsung Australian community services. At holiday times - most recently Easter - many people drive long distances across our vast country to be with family. We drove 750km (465 miles) over a relaxed 10 hours to get to our destination. Driver revivers are volunteer-run spots where you can stop and have a break over a free cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit (cookie) in most towns. They have saved countless lives over many years.
Thank you to Canowindra Lions Club, we enjoyed having a break with you.
