miss_and A Place to Call Home?

The welcome mat at an exhibition about Australia's post WWII migrant hostels, at the National Archives of Australia, Canberra.
The exhibition features photos, stories and relics from a time when we welcomed new migrants from war-torn countries to our community... On until September 30

miss_and Colourful hands.
NAIDOC Week is a national annual week in which Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples celebrate their history, culture & achievements. Today in Canberra we had NAIDOC on the Peninsula, a big family day where everyone was welcome to join the celebrations.
After the Outside Broadcast for work was done, I went over to check out the event. Great to see crowds of people of all cultures enjoying the day.

miss_and HMAS Otway, a submarine that's a landmark for the tiny NSW country town of Holbrook (some 200km+ from the sea) has been yarn bombed.

The 90m submarine hull has been covered with about 2500square metres of yellow knitting & crochet by locals to celebrate 50 years since the Beatles toured Australia. Townsfolk now use the refrain, "we all live near a yellow submarine". The yarn will be taken down mid-July and the various rugs & blankets donated to animal shelters.

miss_and Decoration. Here's the other item I decorated: a charger (large plate). Sort of a 'here comes the sun' feel. 2mon

miss_and Class snapshot. Here's some of our class at the Canberra Potters Society getting our decoration on. Our teacher, potter Maryke Henderson (in the striped top) is a real gem. As well as a splendid artist.
Check out her work: http://www.maryke.com.au/gallery/index.html
