mindygledhill For over a decade, @ryan_gledhill and I have frequented this hillside with our little boys, dreaming about one day buying it and building a house on it. It took a lot longer than we planned on. But I'm thankful to say that today is finally that day and we are the proud owners of a dream that's been a long time coming. Now we just need to put a house on it. #gratitude 1d

mindygledhill LOL!!! HAPPY WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY!!! So much to be thankful for. So much more work to do for the women of the world today. We can get there together. I want to express my gratitude to all the men out there who are pushing for women's equality too. You need to be recognized more. #womensequalityday 3d

mindygledhill For the first time ever, I'll be holding an intimate, acoustic concert in my own studio. It will be a lovely way to inaugurate my newly remodeled creative space in a historic building in Provo, UT. I have been on a break from performing my songs from "Anchor" and "Pocketful of Poetry" and plan to continue that break through next year, with the exception of this little show. In short, it will be a long time before I perform these songs again. Don't miss this! Space is limited. Also, every penny from this show will be donated to Cystinosis research. My little friends, Samuel and Lars Jenkins, are fighting for their lives. There is currently no cure for this fatal genetic disease and research is the only hope for them at the present time. Get tickets at samshopeforacure.org. Link in profile. (Photo by @jaredplatt). 4d

mindygledhill Buckle up. I just wrote a chapter book for you:

I was invited to sing as a guest for a John Lennon tribute show at @rooftopconcerts two weeks ago. "All You Need Is Love" is the song that was given to me to perform. I quickly learned that the live band was huge (horns, strings — the whole nine yards) and comprised of the most talented musicians in the state. I was simultaneously honored and intimidated. If you know this song, it sounds like the most simple piece of cake. But it actually possesses a complicated, irregular meter that is challenging to learn. (Behold, the genius of The Beatles). I would be lying if I told you that I didn't stress more than necessary over committing it to muscle memory and then singing it in front of thousands of people. "All You Need Is Love." I've been repeating a similar message in my mind all year. "Extend love. Extend love. Extend love." There may have been times when I have expressed views publicly that a good part of my grass roots fan base have been uncomfortable with. Being in the public eye inevitably results in having others form a perception of you and hence, certain expectations of you without actually knowing you in person. It creates a terribly unfulfilling temptation to mold to what people may expect. In the recent past I've had people comment to me "I'm disappointed in you." "I'm blocking you." "You are stupid." "I used to look up to you." "Have fun in the Great and Spacious Building." I don't share this for sympathy. Believe me, I've spent time on my own to work through it over the years. I share it because it's a good reminder that the people on the other side of the screen are real. Real and beautiful and complicated. I think of all the times I've done and said things I don't mean. Things I wish I could take back. And suddenly it's easy to extend love and wish people well as they go their way.
As I prepared to sing this song for the show a few weeks ago, I realized what an amazing gift it would be for me to stand up in front of my city and sing about love. I want you to know that I appreciate and genuinely love all you people. Thank you for being here and sharing in my musical journey. PC: @justinhackworth.

mindygledhill This week has been one massive parenting fail after another. I'm trying to remember the previous week when I orchestrated some pretty cool experiences for my family (like surf lessons from @theshopsurf in Arcata, CA). That was a good day. I guess that's how it goes in parenting. The tough days can serve as reminders to slow down, regroup and allow yourself the chance to start over. They also remind me not to be too hard on my own parents and the things I wish they had done differently in raising me. We are all human, trying to figure out life and relationships together. Forgiveness of self and others is key. 1w

mindygledhill Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, CA was the city dump in the early 1900s. In the 1990s the city cleaned it all up, but the beach still coughs up loads of smooth, glittery sea glass. Nature is a lovely teacher. I like to think that our ugliest times in life can also be our most transformative and beautiful. 2w

mindygledhill Our incredibly fun friend, Andrew Young, just might have the purest heart of any human we know. He started out his career as an animator of video games. He left that job feeling disillusioned over how violent some of these games can be and the way they are marketed and targeted at young boys. He later landed a job as an animator for Dreamworks in the Bay Area, during which time he also volunteered hours of service with boys from various backgrounds including low-income neighborhoods and difficult family situations. He eventually left his job with Dreamworks to create and film a TV series targeted for young boys to help teach them how to grow up with a strong sense of self worth and respect for humankind. When his investor unexpectedly passed away, Andrew crowd funded his project to get it off the ground. He found someone to donate over two acres of land just a stone's throw from Facebook headquarters in East Palo Alto (UNHEARD OF). He cleared the land of trash and debris and began planting corn and vegetables. The crops will be a part of his film set for his series but in the mean time, also provide a way for boys to come learn how to work and connect with nature in a neighborhood where land and space are scarce. Today he taught our boys how to plant corn, weed around it and pump water from a well while using these actions and objects as metaphors for life. I felt grateful to be reminded that there are genuinely good people in this world, planting the seeds of change. @honorpark 3w

mindygledhill Some thoughtful words from my brother-in-law, @dustingledhill, that I felt were worth sharing: "Dustin writing from @hiveriot to share some cheesy thoughts: Been thinking lately that everybody needs a constant spiritual recharge - whether through nature, music, family or religion - to reconnect with our best selves.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The spiritual in nature is my quest. In Summer, I make a solo pilgrimage to a beach in Fire Island - the same lonely beach every season. For a day or three, I shed the world's nasty layers and let the sand and salt control. A rhythmic drone for meditation offered by the waves helps to reconnect with where I'm at, where I was and where I need to go.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Once upon a time, I was a Mormon missionary, and for two years I practiced a different kind of meditation - a kind I do not regret. No matter the quest, the result should be the same - be patient with yourself." Photo by @iliveonmars.

mindygledhill I'm honored to be a guest artist on a song for tonight's John Lennon tribute at @rooftopconcerts. If it rains, what could be more magical than listening to the songs of John Lennon under an umbrella? Or tossing the umbrella aside and dancing to the music with your face to the sky and sprinkles in your mouth? Come. We are on, rain or shine. 3w
