messygoat I picked up fifty copies of my first pattern today and have bagged them in zip baggies with hang holes. Getting the details worked out for the website and I think I should have things ready to launch soon! #thisisreallyhappening 13h
  •   elletaylor7 Stunning!! 13h
  •   rgstephens You're a BAMF. 12h
  •   buttoncounter If I pay three hundred dollars for your pattern, will you quilt it for free when the top is done? 11h
  •   sewpsychd Woo! 10h
  •   jpecraig @messygoat I need one, question are you going to quiltcon, if yes we need to meet would you want to start a junior modern quilt guild at your school like I have done at mine? 4h
  •   bbquiltmaker Nice! 3h

messygoat This is not fast. The logs are 3/4" wide. But it's really fun to watch how value controls the design and not color. 2d

messygoat I didn't get my papers graded this weekend but I did get the rest of the first half of my fabric stash all folded up purty. Now I want to #sewallthethings... I mean, more than normal. 6d
  •   sewpsychd Woot! 6d
  •   cyclingjanes So I'm not alone!?! I feel like I can't get enough sewing right now. --more than normal. 6d
  •   4mulafun What are you folding them around? I love this OCD-ness! 6d
  •   messygoat @4mulafun magazine boards-- I meant to buy comic book boards from Amazon but apparently I cannot read, so I got magazine boards. Turns out it's just as well-- I can fit four of them across and that would be true for the comic book boards as well because they wouldn't divide into 48" as neatly as 11.5" does. 6d
  •   messygoat @cyclingjanes oh DEFINITELY not. I always feel like this in January. I think it's the weather. 6d
  •   4mulafun Good to know! 6d
  •   laurapmalone That is super-human. 5d

messygoat Regarding using Frixion pens to mark quilts: the markings will come back if you ship your quilt anywhere during the wintertime. I'm sure they were visible in Albuquerque, and frankly I'm glad I didn't travel all that way to see it hanging there with markings all over it. #bummer 1w

messygoat Ok then... #teacherdeets Here we go: #1: high school (all grades, 9-12). #2: maximum 18 students per class (private school with cap on class size). #3: K-12, separate campus for high school because K-8 campus (1 mile away) was landlocked. #4: just under 400 students in high school and just over 1000 in K-12. #5: We start at 8:20 and end at 3:10. I arrive usually at about 7:50 and leave around 5. #6: I have taught in the classroom for 7 years and tutored privately for 8. #7: I've taught grades 8-12 (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, PreCalculus). My strengths are Geometry and PreCal. #8: Alabama, USA. 2w

messygoat If consolidating the mound of scraps from the last 5-6 sewing projects counts as cleaning my room, then yeah-- I'm totally cleaning my room. #cleaninguptheslowway 2w

messygoat Probably about 15% of my stash. Ran out of boards. This is gonna take a while, but I think I will like the final result-- and be inspired by it. The second shelf is all hand-dyes and solids except for one upholstery print that I keep wanting to make into a bag. 2w

messygoat For those who have wrapped their stash on magazine boards... This is just the subset that was on my cutting table waiting to be put away. I easily have 25 more bins like this to go. This took a while to do... So my question: is it worth the time/expense to do this to the rest of my stash? 2w
  •   quiltingfairy I'm interested in that same question! I've debated doing this for awhile. It looks lovely though! 2w
  •   evildemondevildog @messygoat I was told to clean my room so I have two packages of boards and away I go. I like the organization and I buy the comic boards on Amazon and they are fairly inexpensive. 2w
  •   auntiepami Not for me. 2w
  •   kristin_esser I'd never keep it up. 2w
  •   cleaverr It makes pulling fabric so much easier for me and my work area is better for it. I will stack wrapped boards as I use the fabric and "shelve" then every once in a while so that it's not a regular PITA. 2w
  •   allenandcatz I did it and love it. I was able to compress the space by about a third and agree that it makes it much easier to find what you need. 2w
  •   messygoat @allenandcatz I'm not sure it will compress mine, but my current system is very definitely not working. I don't know what I have, can't see it, and beautiful fabric I loved enough to buy doesn't get used. So I may slowly work through doing this to my stash. Two heaping bins finished so far! 2w
  •   danaandthread I say YES! It took forever but made it so much easier for me to organize. I usually have an "in box" of stuff I need to wrap but then I take 20 minutes and it's done. 2w

messygoat Finished this little quilt last night, and now the pattern is rolling out of the gate, preparing for takeoff. Thank you to everyone who has been a cheerleader for me through this process. I'll share the cover of my pattern when I have been given the thumbs-up by the copyright attorney. THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING! #leapandthenetwillappear 2w

messygoat This morning I had the privilege of speaking to the West Alabama Quilters Guild in Tuscaloosa about how my approach to quilting changed after our house fire. It was a great experience, and they were a very welcoming group to this newbie presenter. I had a great travel companion, too! 3w
