messygoat Friday is helping me pinbaste the tree. I'm trying a double-layer of batting (one bamboo/cotton, one cotton) for this one so I get really good texture. Will report back. 4d
  •   messygoat (The flaming orange wall in the background is my kitchen. Love love love orange.) 4d
  •   the_orriginal This quilt is (already) so awesome!! I'm excited to see your quilting! 4d
  •   the_orriginal Is Friday in charge of closing the safety pins? ;-) 4d
  •   messygoat @the_orriginal I use an ordinary kitchen spoon for that. No special tools here. :) 4d
  •   paradisebreezequilts Ugh. What a job! Hope it goes well. 4d

messygoat Completely invisible when I'm stitching, which requires a lot of focus and muscle memory... But the setting triangles will add texture without attracting attention. Perfect. 5d

messygoat So I finished the interior quilting on this one (FINALLY OMG) and now I have to figure out what to do in the setting triangles. More of the same? Rays radiating from the corners? From the outside corners? #ignorethesprawledcats #obnoxious 6d
  •   ellathrowawench Nice pattern weights you have there! 6d
  •   ellathrowawench I really like what you are doing. I guess it just depends on whether or not you want the triangles to blend in or stand out. 6d
  •   messygoat Preference, @ellathrowawench ?? I could go either way, really. 6d
  •   ellathrowawench @messygoat I think my eyes filled in the same. I had to look a second time to notice the triangles weren't quilted. So I'm going to go with more of the same. I think if you do something too different then the triangles will stand out more than the rest and the rest is too gorgeous to miss. Sorry if that was too wordy. I'm tired and have a tendency to babble. 6d
  •   messygoat @ellathrowawench babbling is the only method of communication that I really understand so yay! :) that's where I'm kind of leaning. It's almost like the quilted areas reflect out into the linen now even when looking at it in front of me (as opposed to in pictures). 6d
  •   paradisebreezequilts This is so fantastic. I'm nowhere near experienced but don't think the triangles should stand out and pull attention away from your magnificent work on the main part. 6d
  •   sewpsychd Absolutely stunning!! 6d
  •   jolovestoquilt Amazing!...Seriously brilliant 6d

messygoat All assembled. And flat. And the center section is almost perfectly rectangular. This was such a stretch for me but I have really enjoyed it. 1w

messygoat Got to see a dear friend after we got back from the symphony last night! Rob was in the class the year after mine and we kept in touch even before social media. Now he's a professor of political science at Columbia College here in Chicago. :) #rstories15 #rschi9 @randolph_school 2w
