mdpny One month ago when I set out to host my first ever ‘remix my yoga selfies’ editing challenge, #mdpNYyogaFFA, I figured maybe one or two edits would be submitted. I was humbled that it actually was 52 images, submitted by many talented people, some of them new people I got to know through the challenge. It’s an honest example of what this simple app does best: connect people and create community. Was so cool to see the images I’d created in the dead of New York winter find new life, reimagined and reinterpreted through the eyes of others. From the simplest color grading to the most complex composite, I love each and every one that was submitted. There were no winners or losers in this challenge, that’s not what it was about. Just fun way to get to play with work outside of what you’d normally photograph. With that I’d like to thank and offer my deepest gratitude to the friends who lent their talents to this project. And would like to highlight the above image submitted by @papadecay as a fine example of how a story can be retold in a new way. This is warrior II, in all red everything. Red is the color of life. Thank you again to all who contributed, shared, and followed this project. Namaste. 5h

mdpny Day 25 on my #JourneyToHandstand: Today focused on alignment, stacking bone over bone and understanding how to get that perfect alignment for a straight handstand. In a whole other level, this posture could be done without the wall, just lifted into from a pike position, and lowered back into from the straight handstand, it’s still just a dream for me, but in the course of this month I feel like I’ve learned a lot to help clean up my handstand progression, and I see the progress. I can’t believe that March has come and gone so quickly. Would love to thank everyone who has contributed to my #mdpNYyogaFFA remix contest this month. Tomorrow will be the last day to pull down and edit files, as a treat for the final day, I’ve added some additional images from this month’s challenge to the dropbox (link in profile). Feel free to browse or submit a remix before midnight tomorrow 3/31. Wishing you a wonderful and restful evening. Namaste. -------------------------------------------------------- Challenge hosted by: @beachyogagirl @kinoyoga and @aloyoga. 2d

mdpny Day 23 on my #JourneyToHandstand: Today was work on core strength and hamstring flexibility. Most important part isn't the destination, it's the journey, and setting the right goals to get you there. mdpny Day 22 on my #JourneyToHandstand: Today we were asked to work on arm and shoulder strength in 8-angle pose. Was a kinda late day at work, so practiced the pose on this misty evening on a street corner with steam in TriBeCa. Have a ways to go with it to get the hips higher and the legs straighter but it's improving from where it was a couple months ago. So progress. Today I was also challenged by @haseemuzzaman to post an unedited photo straight out of the camera for the #sooc_challenge so here's a straight from the x100t unedited JPEG. I'm gonna follow his rules and challenge @icreatelife_ @midnight.xpress and @papakila to post one unedited photo straight from camera. Think it's a good challenge, shows that it isn't the fancy edit that makes the image great, it's the idea from the mind, eye and heart of the image maker. Namaste. -------------------------------------------------------- Challenge hosted by: @beachyogagirl @kinoyoga and @aloyoga. 7d

mdpny Day 21 on my #JourneyToHandstand: Today we were asked to work on jumping up into an arm balance with knees tucked in, we were warned that it was much more difficult than it looked, and I found that to be true. Using shoes, to give you a little more bounce, try jumping up into handstand with knees tucked in as far as possible. I seemed to struggle with momentum most, either not enough to get up at all, or too much that then pushed me backwards. Even when I did get balanced, didn’t quite find enough stability to tuck knees completely in without coming down in the process. This method definitely takes away the momentum you grow used to in hopping up from extended legs, so good one to keep practicing, and knowing with time I will get there, for today, respecting where I am, and looking forward to some less freezing temps later in the week. Wishing you all a great an restful evening. Namaste. -------------------------------------------------------- Challenge hosted by: @beachyogagirl @kinoyoga and @aloyoga. 1w
