mbevel Most likely only meaningful to folks familiar with both the Wonder Bar and the no longer standing Palace Amusements... but when did they add a dog to the reproductions of the bumper car paintings that used to be on the outside walls of the Palace? 3d

mbevel The bench... at the top of the bluff that used to overlook the lagoon and breakwater and the surfers a block further north where instead of waves there's now an expanse of sand... 2w
  •   shardrix Ah. Still a pretty scene but what happened? 2w
  •   mbevel @shardrix Although a few towns always said no to beach replenishment in the past (including Allenhurst), the destruction caused by Sandy has had many reconsider... It's going to be odd since high tide would bring waves crashing on the rocks at the bottom of the bluff - that won't be happening any more 2w
  •   shardrix Pros and cons to everything.... 2w
  •   mbevel @shardrix Wider beaches definitely offer more protection to the coastal homes and businesses... 2w
  •   shardrix Anything that minimizes storm damage is good in my book. 2w

mbevel Osprey II, Sanford, Florida 3w
  •   robmeknot Were you in town along the river? I saw a few nests and several Ospreys there, but only snapped the nests. 2w
  •   mbevel @robmeknot Yes, this was along the river just past the downtown shopping area. 2w
  •   robmeknot Did you go to the little museum there? The downtown had improved since I was there a few years ago. Of course it had its notoriety! 2w

  •   whosaneck Great captures! 3w
  •   mbevel @whosaneck Thanks, John... I was lucky to come across this guy relatively close to the shoreline... The only problem was the gusty wind making it hard to get a steady shot 2w

mbevel From one old lighthouse to another... When the original lighthouse (seen in the foreground) was built on top of the sand dune, the door was ground level... Years of erosion has necessitated the need for the wooden stairs... They are raising money to rebuild the dune back to its original height... 3w

  •   andrewscudder615 Great shot! 3w
  •   robmeknot Wonderful! 3w
  •   mbevel @andrewscudder615 @robmeknot Thank you, I almost imagine the lifeguard station is really a control tower and the pelican is an old seaplane :-) 3w
  •   robmeknot I like the way pelicans fly, seemingly with their chests puffed out...and so erect, like old generals. 2w
